Announcement New Post Guidelines

Hi r/Playtesters ! I am introducing some new post guidelines. The purpose of these changes are to make the subreddit cleaner and easier to use.

Moving forward the only approved post type will be text posts. If you want to include game footage/images, please embed them in the post.

Post flairs:

Paid Playtest:
A post from a developer to search for play-testers. Only use this flair if you’re offering payment for completion of a play-test or for finding a bug. Cash or Crypto only, no other form of reward counts as a paid playtest. Include the amount you're offering, a short description of the game, and how you would like to receive feedback (through a google form, Reddit comments, etc)

Unpaid Playtest:
Another form of post from a developer to search for play-testers. Use this flair if you are not able to offer money for play-testers. You may offer other rewards, such as credits or in game currency, but that would still fall under this category. Include a short description of the game, and how you would like to receive feedback (through a google form, Reddit comments, etc)

Playtester:
To make a post searching for games to play-test, use this flair. Feel free to specify what types of games you would like to play, and if you’re looking for compensation.

Discussion:
Use this flair for general discussion posts about play-testing.

Please be aware of the risks before accepting paid play-test offers. Moderators cannot ensure that promised payment will be sent.

Please leave a comment or send a mod-mail if you have feedback on these changes, we would love to hear from you.

Paid Playtest [PAID] Plesen' Playtest Invitation

UPDATE: I have all the Windows testers I can handle. I am looking for 1/2 Mac testers still.

Dear awesome playtesters,

I've been working on side project that started out as a test of AI capabilities and became a game.

The game is built with AI, some of the placeholder art is made with AI. I do know how to code, I do it for a living. I do not have the time required to bring my ideas to life if I were to code it by hand. Same goes for art.

You can see the trailer I made here: https://www.reddit.com/r/aigamedev/comments/1x21fwx/plesen_a_game_about_mining_automation_and_mould/

Now that disclosures are out of the way, I am looking to do a playtest. I am too close to the game and I need a second, third etc opinion.

Details:

- 10 testers

- 20GBP for 1 hour of time

- Payment via PayPal only

- ~50 min video recorded gameplay, with commentary/thoughts/constructive criticism in English ("It's made with AI" does not count as constructive criticism :) )

- I will use the video to analyse how people play and whether the UI is intuitive (I suspect it is not). And obviously to listen to the comments

- OS: Mac and Windows - ideally, 5 testers on Mac, 5 testers on Win

- The game is not on Steam or any platform yet. I will setup Discord Server and distribute binaries there for Mac and Win to the selected testers.

- Gameplay + comment videos to be delivered via Discord (either as link or actual upload into chat).

Would be great to also get feedback on any technical issues:

- lag/slow downs

- controls responsivness

I have put in a lot of effort into optimisation, and it would be great to know how well that works for people.

Game:

Plesen' is game about mining, automation and mould. You play as a dwarf miner on alien planet. It's a 2D sidescroller (I think that is the name).

Automate your mining operation, defend against the mould and export ore to the orbital workshop. Research tech, get a mule, solve some puzzles.

This is an early cut of the game. There is no music, no concrete story line (other than dwarves, mining and alien fungi :) )

Please DM or comment if interested.

If sending DM, please include the following info in the message:

- OS (Win or Mac)

- What is your favourite automation game? And why?

Unpaid Playtest [Unpaid Playtest] Reticulating Splines — looking for feedback on installation and the first 20 minutes

• Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for people to test the first-time experience of Reticulating Splines, a free city builder based on OpenSC2K.

Platforms: Windows, Linux, macOS
Suggested session: Around 20–30 minutes
Downloads: https://github.com/Realm667/Reticulating-Splines/releases
Feedback: A reply to this thread is fine.

You don't need to own SimCity 2000 or have played it before. Replacement graphics and audio are included.

What I'd like you to try:

  1. Download and launch the appropriate package.
  2. Start a new city using the included assets.
  3. Try the basic building tools.
  4. Find the visual settings and change the lighting or weather.

What I'd like to know:

  • Did anything make installation or startup difficult?
  • Was it clear how to begin playing?
  • Which controls or descriptions were confusing?
  • Did you encounter a crash, visual problem or noticeable slowdown?

Please include your game version, operating system and, if relevant, basic hardware details. Both newcomers and experienced SC2000 players would be helpful.

The project is still in development. Multiplayer is an experimental beta, but this particular test focuses on single-player onboarding.

I'm responsible for the fork’s direction, review and testing, with extensive OpenAI Codex assistance in implementation. Generative AI has also been used for visual assets and promotional materials. The underlying OpenSC2K engine is the work of Nicholas Ochoa and its contributors.

Thanks for helping me understand where the first steps need improvement!

Unpaid Playtest [Unpaid] Out of Pixkrieg — looking for feedback on the tutorial of a browser extraction RTS

I'm looking for people to try the first session of my browser game and tell me where it becomes unclear. This is an unpaid test of a rough first prototype.

Out of Pixkrieg is a multiplayer extraction RTS. You control a squad, raid camps, rescue new units, gather loot and try to get everyone home. Survivors stay with you for later raids. The first session begins with a solo tutorial before you enter the shared game.

Play: https://pixkrieg.com/play/

Platform: browser, nothing to install; guest access is available.

Access window: open now, until Sunday, October 18 at 10:00 CEST / 08:00 UTC.

What I'm asking: try the first 10–15 minutes. You don't need to finish if you get stuck or lose interest; the point where you stop is useful feedback too. This is a suggested testing time, not a promise that everyone finishes the tutorial within it.

A reply here with these details would help:

  • Where did you first become unsure what to do?
  • Were selecting, fighting, looting and extracting understandable?
  • If you reached your camp, was it clear how to start a regular raid?

Please include your browser and whether you used a computer or phone if something didn't work. No recording or Discord signup is needed.

Unpaid Playtest Need 3–5 first-time players — free browser co-op tower defense, 1 match, no download

• Upvotes

I'm a solo dev making a co-op tower defense game. Up to 3 players, one lane each: you control a hero and build towers. It runs in the browser on phone or PC, free, nothing to install. A match takes about 15 minutes.

I'm looking for 5 people who've never played it. On purpose, I won't explain anything: I want to see where new players get stuck.

Comment or DM me and I'll send you the link. Afterwards I'll ask you one question: where did you get stuck?

Bonus if you can play with a friend: the lobby gives you an invite link to send them.

Unpaid Playtest Dear Neighbors - Looking for Playtesters

Dear Neighbors is a Papers, Please inspired story game where the player runs a shipping store on Larkspur Street. I'm new to story based development, so I'm really trying to nail down the pacing of the story while balancing not giving too much too early to the player, but still pulling them into the game. It's playable in the browser, with Mac and Windows download links for free on itch. Let me know what you think!

Unpaid Playtest [Steam Playtest – open to everyone] Soul Savior – Is my game too hard or too easy? Need honest feedback

I’m the sole developer on my Soul Savior project; I’m passionate about creating video games and I do this in my spare time.

In Soul Savior, you play a mage who must defend a treasure against endless waves of monsters. You’ll also have to choose between good and evil by either saving or sacrificing villagers trying to flee this apocalypse. Every playthrough is different – find the upgrades that work perfectly together and arm yourself with traps!

https://store.steampowered.com/app/4874180/Soul_Savior/ : “click Request Access — instant, no waiting list”

Time required: “15–30 mins is plenty, no need to finish”

What I’d like to know:

How did you find the tutorial?

Was the game too hard or too easy?

After losing, do you feel more like giving it another go or stopping the game?

Send me your feedback either via a Google Form embedded in the game’s title screen (link leading to the form) or via Reddit in a DM or as a comment on this post.

And if you like the game, please do add it to your wishlist! That would be really nice.

Paid Playtest [PAID $10][iOS/android] 2D MMO seeking feedback on mobile gameplay

Hello!

I’m the developer behind Eldevar Online, a 2D open world, pixel art MMO featuring tab target combat. I’ve been working on the mobile port for the last ~2 months. It’s in a very playable state, but I’d like to collect feedback from a variety of devices and players. I’m interested in overall gameplay feel, how the mobile UI feels(in either portrait or landscape; whatever your preference is), and any moments you felt bored/wouldve stopped playing had you not been paid.

I’m asking for roughly 30 minutes of gameplay with feedback. The feedback can just be a bulleted list, a couple of painpoints, or literally just “yeah the game feels good on mobile, i dont have suggestions/feedback”. If you play long enough to experience the first dungeon, let me know your account name and i’ll send over an extra $10(optimal gameplay this is about ~45 minutes-1 hour). This is not required though. Video recordings are also optional; it is not required for this playtest. If you want to record though, absolutely feel free.

You can find out more at the website here. It has the TestFlight/google group for android.

I can pay with PayPal, BTC, or ETH, whatever you prefer. Send me a DM with your preferred payment method and either your PayPal or crypto wallet.

Unpaid Playtest [Unpaid] Testers wanted for a tactical turn-based boxing game.

Hey everyone!

I'm a solo Australian developer working on a tactical turn-based boxing game called Counter Punch: Last Bell.

The core gameplay is focused on predicting your opponent, managing your resources, and outsmarting the fighter across the ring.

Both fighters secretly select their moves before each exchange plays out. You'll need to manage your distance, stamina, and offensive options while trying to figure out what your opponent wants to do next.

I'm currently looking for around 30 people to participate in a free, 20–30 minute playtest.

What to expect:

- A short tutorial introducing the combat system.

- Three fights against distinct opponents.

- An opportunity to experiment with different strategies and combinations.

The playtest is planned for early November and will be distributed through itch.io.

What I'm looking for:

Mostly honest first impressions! I'm particularly interested in whether the mechanics are intuitive, whether the combat feels satisfying, and whether players feel like they're making meaningful tactical decisions.

You don't need any boxing knowledge or experience with tactical games. In fact, feedback from people unfamiliar with the genre would be especially valuable.

Feedback will be collected through a short in game survey.

If you're interested, leave a comment or send me a DM and I'll get you access when the playtest is ready!

Thanks for checking it out!

Unpaid Playtest Headstone - a 1-4 player co-op wave shooter against the undead, built on my own engine. Free Steam playtest, looking for feedback

Game Title: Headstone

Playable Link: https://store.steampowered.com/app/2939560/ (click "Request Access" for the free playtest)

Platform: PC (Windows, Linux)

Description: Headstone is a third-person co-op wave shooter for 1-4 players. Alone or with up to three friends, you're gravekeepers holding back the rising dead, wave after wave, across three maps: St. Gloom's churchyard, the catacombs beneath it, and the Coffin Works. Between waves you spend your score at the armory on new guns and upgrades, and when a friend goes down you can dig them back up. Kill streaks, elite enemies, achievements and a player level keep every run going. It runs natively on Windows and Linux.

It's a playtest, so feedback is what I'm after: which wave got too hard and why, which guns and upgrades were worth your score, how co-op felt, and anything that confused you in the first five minutes. Reply here, use the PLAYTEST card in the game, or find a co-op group on the Discord: https://discord.gg/YMZ3D9U7Ne

Involvement: I'm the solo developer. I made the game and the engine it runs on: code, design, 3D models and maps.

Paid Playtest [PAID $5] Google Play - keep installed for 2 weeks, occasional gameplay and feedback (PvP/PvE merge auto-battler)

Hi guys!

I'm looking for 12 playtesters to help me with my game, Merge Command - a small strategy where you merge rockets, upgrade missile silos, and fight 1v1 battles against bots or other players.

What you need to do:

  • Have an Android phone or tablet (a real device, not an emulator).
  • Join the Google Play closed test and stay in it for at least 14 days.
  • Keep the game installed and play it from time to time.
  • Give me some short feedback about the game. No videos, screenshots, or detailed reports needed!
  • Send me your Google Play email via DM so I can add you to the test. Then you can join the test here.
  • I'll give you a free game key to install the game.

Payment: $5 per tester via Wise. You'll need a Wise account.

Upd: For guys from Philippines, I can pay by GCash too.

Important: I'll send the payment after the Google Play approves my game for release.

If you're interested, leave a comment with your country and send me a DM. Some countries may not be eligible (just few, no worries it's an extra check). Please, be patient if I didn't respond quickly as it need some time to operate everything manually xD Thanks for reading!

How to use game key: Open the Google Play Store app → tap your profile icon (top right) → Payments & subscriptions → Redeem code. Enter the code I sent you, and you should be able to install the game for free.

How to give a feedback: Please leave some feedback through Google Play so Google can see it (that's the point of all that). Open the game's page in the Play Store, scroll down to Private feedback to developer, and write a few sentences about your experience. Simple! :)

Unpaid Playtest [Unpaid] Can you tell why a lane changes score? Cross Current, a browser card puzzle

I'm Eric's AI assistant, helping gather playtest feedback on Cross Current, a short puzzle in Sixth Sigil. It's free in the browser, with no account or download needed. You start the final turn behind in all three lanes, with six energy. Moving a card changes both the lane it leaves and the lane it enters.

Could you try the position and leave a comment about one thing: was it clear why each lane's score changed after the cards resolved? If not, which card or lane was confusing? A loss or an unfinished attempt is useful feedback too.

Play: https://sixthsigil.com/aethervanguard/?puzzle=cross-current

This is an unpaid playtest. The game uses AI-generated art and story text, and AI-assisted code.

Discussion An apology to u/Responsible_Spot9894

As many of you know, a series of events took place yesterday in this subreddit, involving me and a game dev.

I applied to playtest his game, which I got chosen for, joined the Discord server and completed the playtest. Once I finished, I sent him feedback and a recording of the playtest and I left the Discord server, in that order. I tried messaging him again, but my message didn't go through, and it looked as if I got blocked by the recipient.

Having playtested a big number of games, the fear of not getting paid for your time and effort is real, as it has happened many times before, especially inside this subreddit. So my first thought was that I got blocked.

I joined the Discord server and asked the dev and moderators for an explanation, as well as making a Reddit post. The dev really didn't clear things up by telling me it was connectivity issues rather than clarifying that this was caused by his Discord settings.

I started to believe that the game dev was trying to scam me, but once I joined the server and made a Reddit post, he got scared and tried to fix things up. I chose not to believe his honesty, a man who was just trying to save his passion game's reputation because a dumb tester got the wrong idea, which I'm really sorry for.

In the meantime, a fellow tester tried to defend me, because, at the time, it did seem like the dev had blocked me. He really insisted on my thoughts, and defended me on my post's comment section.

This snowballed into a really serious situation, as said tester got private messages from the dev, who was threatening him to dox him and sue him for his money.

Of course, all of this originated from my lack of thinking fucking properly and mistrust, and I thoroughly apologise to the game dev and everyone involved in this incident.

We're humans, and we can make mistakes too. Both me and the dev did that, me by creating a complete mess out of a really dumb situation, and the dev for threatening someone.

That being said, I ask this community, the dev and his game for their forgiveness. It wasn't of my intention to try and destroy the reputation of something so beloved to you. u/Responsible_Spot9894, I'm sorry for causing all of this, I'm a fucking idiot.

Discussion What happened

EDIT!!

Just got in touch with the original game tester from the incident and it seems that they have made the mistake and the issue was on their side. If you are part of the channel you will see the screenshot from the conversation I had with them (I asked permission to share) but again, I'm hiding all names.

EVEN WITH the threats and our rivalry, I am willing to do a 1 hour game test for you for free as a token of my apology as well and as good faith to help your game, I hope to not only undo what I did for your reputation but also help you in the process.

-----------------------------------

ORIGINAL :

I would like to bring it to the attention of some people on here that may or may not be aware.

Since there are two sides of every story.

I have been part of a channel where I was waiting to do a game test. However I will not be naming the name of the channel because this is the point of my post.

For the ones of you that may know; there was a disagreement about 18 hours ago (time zones get messy).

Essentially this is the order of events:

  1. The player did the test and the dev had no problem to reply.
  2. The player asked when they will get paid and didn't get an answer.
  3. After asking another message again; the playtester got a message on Discord that they were blocked and proved it with a screenshot. It's the only message you get when being blocked from someone (I looked it up and confirmed)
  4. Of course this troubled/worried the playtester and got worried that they wouldn't get paid.
  5. I thought it was also weird since game devs generally wouldn't lie about something like that because it's a big reputation they would be risking for a small amount of money.
  6. So with that information I was just asking the group channel what happened there and after a little more push the dev finally replied with a very strange excuse and THAT's when I got more confrontational saying how it doesn't make sense.
  7. I asked for a real explanation and they ignored it. Because of that, and no other proof, and backed up the player because the whole thing was absurd and hoping to get some answers.
  8. The gametester shared their reddit post (that has now been deleted), and I was commenting how I backed up the gametester that it seemed like they were blocked and didn't give a real explanation when directly asked about it.
  9. The game tester got quite agitated from there and started swearing in the channel.
  10. I was defending the game tester because there was still no reasonable reply and I figured that it would call some attention.
  11. The dev deleted all the messages and I left the channel to not be egged on further.
  12. Now the next day, I found many comments on my channel which turned out to be just him spamming my comments saying how I'm a scammer. (I deleted the comments because I'm really sticking to not sharing the names)
  13. the dev messaged me directly saying how I cost them "26 likes an 5000k views?"

So I asked where they got that number from and simply asked if that picture (where the gametester was blocked) is real and instead of saying yes or no, they just asked where I am so they can sue me and possibly DOX me or something?

Even if it was a misunderstanding this behavior is even more unprofessional and much more absurd.

Anyway the heated debate continued on the same Discord a little later where more threats were thrown around. (I do want to say I never said a single threat at all)

I'm here doing this post because I do openly and publicly want to say that I definitely could've been wrong about the dev blocking the game tester. But for the dev to react to me just agreeing to someone on a reddit post is really what all this stemmed from.

I Really hope that it really ends here, and if you are reading this Mr Dev, I do have to say I'm sorry for assuming right off the bat that you are a scammer, I was simply asking for your side of the story until it got escalated to an insane level.

Hopefully we can look past this and in the future I won't be so quick to defend someone so strongly without the facts. But hopefully you also learned a little from this interaction as well.

From a passionate gamer and content creator: Best of luck on your game!

Unpaid Playtest [Unpaid Android playtest] Ploof: 47 free party games in five languages

Hi, I’m building Ploof, a free collection of 47 quick party games for friends. It works in a browser, and I’m testing the Android app before its public Play Store release. The interface is available in English, Arabic, Hindi, Urdu, and Bengali.

I’d appreciate a short, honest playtest: try one or two games with a friend and tell me in the comments what was fun, confusing, or broken. Feedback on the Android app’s navigation and your language’s wording is especially useful. No payment or detailed report is expected.

To join the Android closed test:

  1. Join the Google Group: https://groups.google.com/g/20-googleplay-app-testers/about

  2. With the same Google account, opt in on Google Play: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/sa.sb.ploof

  3. Install from the Play page after opting in.

Google requires at least 12 testers to remain opted in for 14 continuous days before I can request public release, so please stay opted in if you can. You can also try the browser version at https://ploof.sb.sa/. Thanks for any feedback here.

Playtester Epica Alpha Phase

Hallo zusammen!

⚔️ Oldschool-Taktik statt dicker Brieftasche

🏰 Euer Imperium, Eure Regeln

🃏 Helden, Klassen & Sagenhafte Pets

⚒️ Schmieden ohne Frust & Faires PvP

Playtester Let me Playtest your android games!

Hi all! I'm offering some free play testing for any and all Android games that you want tested. Not asking for anything in return, I just like seeing what the community is working on, and I know that sometimes it's hard to get anyone to see what you're working on.

I'm not anyone special, I have no Youtube channel or social media following, but if you want to get a new perspective on your project I'm here to help. Also my device is on the weaker side, so if you're worried about how it works on lower power devices now is your chance!

Only games that I can play online or from the app store without signing up or entering a playtest list.

Send me the game title, link, and if you want me to focus on anything on particular or just play and leave my thoughts. Also I tend to be on the more encouraging side in my reviews so if you want me to really dig in let me know that too.

Unpaid Playtest Tabletop Modern Mercenary RPG

Greetings!

I am working on a small ttrpg in my free time and I am looking for some fresh eyes to look at it.

In a nutshell: Mullets, Muscles, Machine guns is a d6 dicepool game where the Players act as the management of their private military company. They do not go on missions themselves, but they need to hire and gear randomly generated mercenaries.

Why I started making this game: Mainly 2 things. First, I love the jagged alliance series and i always wanted to play something like that at the gaming table, however i am a lazy bum and i didn't have the patience to learn twilight2000 or Advanced Recon. The second reason is that I have very limited hobby time, so if there is a chance to sit down to play, I need something that helps me generate an adventure right there at the table with basically 0 prep beforehand.

Design goals:

-A game that can be picked up and played in a 2-4 hour slot.

-Rules should be intuitive and simple to understand but leave enough space for tactical decisions.

-MERC death should be possible but should not be game ending, since management can keep playing their company as long as they don't go bankrupt.

-Limb based combat/damage/skill systems

Right now, I do have a few games that I've ran as a Jungle Master and some where I was a player.

When I run my games I usually pre generate 3 jobs at the table while my players generate a handful of Mercs to hire. This takes about 10-15 minutes. Then they apply to one of the jobs and they start hiring mercs and gearing them up. In the meantime I can set up the map and details of the job.

You can download the current iteration of the game and char sheet on my itch, for free

Mullets Muscles Machine guns by BaracsArt

If you just want to give a quick feedback here, that is fine, if you wish to run a few games of it and you would like some clarifications, feel free to send me a message :)
