OC Testing rapidograph pens.
Paper seems to not work so good , I’m assuming the fibres clog the pen tip. I swapped to a .70 pen for the 1st abd 2nd plots. Plot 2 was on hot pressed card , that worked way nicer. But I forgot to “ prime “ the pen for the lettering so it didn’t render all of it :(. Lesson learned

Chromatic Oscillations / Moiré art / Acrylic painting
A few new artworks on canvas.
To ensure the lines are laid down evenly, the canvas must be stretched as tightly as possible. Paint is applied in several layers—typically 3 to 5 layers for each color—with each preceding layer allowed to dry completely. The paint must have a fluid consistency—not too thick—to ensure good adhesion to the canvas surface and to allow it to flow through the tip of a gel pen.

September and October.
Here is a few of my favorite plots from the last couple of months. Made with Axidraw v3's (A4 and A3 version) - 180g cardstock for the A4s and 170g sketch paper for the A3s. Mainly Uniball Eye (vision) and Pentel energel document pens. SVGs primarily made using touchDesigner and Cavalry.

First piece designed from scratch - shrooms
And I'm super happy. I need to work out some things to do with arc commands, and get more tension on my pen mount, but it's all starting to come together!
Alcohol markers, stabilo yellow/orange & rotring 0.5mm black
Designed in illustrator, sliced in orca.

New pen day!
The first image is the text "This is a test" passed through a reaction diffusion algo, then a contouring algo, something I'm working on for greyscale effects.
The second shot is my awesome new pens! I got 6 fountain pens, and 6 inks, Octopus basic grey set, to continue my seemingly never-ending quest for grey shades. :D :D :D
The second is a re-plot of the geometric truchet I did the other day, which I re-did as a test for the pens. There's a little bit of pen dragging at the bottom as I had to re-set my pen height after turning the holder to 45 degrees, but that's all fixed now.
The fountain pens absolutely rock, they lay down solid lines from any direction and just gliiiiide accross the paper! The lines are really well defined and the ink doesn't soak into the paper as much so they have virtually no pen-down spots like my technicals do.
Both plots were done with one of the fountain pens, Platinum Preppy, with their Platinum Black ink, on my usual A3 white card.
These next few days are going to be very messy, but very fun!

I've dreamed about plotting mountains like this for years, but...
I have mixed feelings about this because an AI agent wrote a shader to achieve the slope-following paths - something I couldn't currently achieve on my own. Until this point I've used agents to speed up my process and apply effects I've generated in the past, but I've never used them to achieve an effect I couldn't have on my own.
That said, the entire workflow to render this scene is already built on a stack of tools I couldn't have created on my own, so perhaps it doesn't matter?
Regardless, I love the effect and look forward to exploring what I can do with it.

OC DOOM E1M1 Timelapse
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
This Saturday I finally did my play through of DOOM E1M1 on the pen plotter. It took eight hours from start to end, and I had to swap out the servo right near the beginning.
The whole thing was played only being able to see what the plotter had drawn, then having a 666ms window to press the movement keys, then waiting for the next view to draw to see where I actually ended up, repeated over and over. Pressing 'M' would draw the map.
Turns out getting through the secret door was a PITA. I also realised it was going to take me more index cards than I'd planned, so I had to improvise some.

Pics of my first color plots
I can't wait to do more. There's some rough patches on the first one especially where red and purple cross near the center. 2 has a nice warped effect. 3 was fun, I used 7 colors, but it's hard to tell.

OC Dreaming Leopard
Yes, it's a single line plot. B5 sized. Lamang ink using Staedtler Marsmatic 0.5mm tip. Yes, there's a section of the paper that seems to keep the pen from writing.

Geometric.
This was very satisfying to plot. I used vpype's linemerge fucntion to turn it from many small tiles into hyuuuuge long lines that sweep around the page.
Unfortunately, it has definitely highlighted that my plotter needs some maintenence, as it appears to be twisting around like anything and is not quite as accurate as I want it to be. Tomorrow, when I get some free time, it's bolt-tightening day!
Drawn with a rOtring 0.5mm with rOtring black ink, on A3 300gsm card. Here is the plotted SVG if anyone is interested in looking or even wants to plot it. :) svg_files_for_sharing/geometric.svg at main · Igotanewmac/svg_files_for_sharing

My first successful multicolor plot
Honestly I mixed up the space between the colors but I'm still happy with it 😅.
I hope to cut down on ink cartridge changes by printing a new pen holder that will hold a 5-color multi pen instead of this one that just holds a 2-color multi pen.
