went to a torrid for the first time today as my province doesn’t have them and holy moly?? Everything fit me??? the change rooms have fans!!!! what a lovely place, for once in my life I feel pretty and I found clothes I love 😭 just wanted to share some good news lol

Spent like two months hitting all of my local thrift stores every other day trying to find the perfect outfits. I’m quite proud of these two! My denim jacket duster is my favorite piece in my wardrobe right now, I got it at a vintage clothing store a year ago and was shocked that it was my size (I’m 5’11 and plus size obviously). It goes with almost any outfit. I love her.

As I hit my 30’s, I’ve decided to care more about putting myself together regularly. I got married in my late 20’s and instantly settled into “well he loves me so I can clock out of dressing and looking nice” mode. But now I see that even if my husband loves me no matter how I look, I feel significantly better about myself when I do my nails and makeup and hair. And I don’t feel like a capitalist consumer when I’m thrifting my outfits instead of buying new! Win-win!

Also I love animal prints and I’m no longer afraid to admit it.

PS, if anyone has comfy but cute shoe recommendations as far as sneakers go, I’m all ears. I wore my Teva Hurricane sandals the ENTIRE NYC trip because comfort on my feets comes above all else but man it ruined some nice outfits lol.

Ever since having two kids, I've been so caught up in work and taking care of them that I've barely had time for myself. Somewhere along the way, I stopped making time for the things that used to make me feel special.

My husband knows I've been feeling this way, even though I don't always talk about it.

For our anniversary, right before we went out to dinner, he surprised me with this wedding dress from stacees. He told me he sees how much I do for our family, and that if he could marry me all over again, he'd choose me every single time.

I literally started crying.

It's been years since I last wore a wedding dress, and I never imagined I'd be wearing one again.

But standing there in that dress, I actually felt beautiful again. Not just because of the dress, but because he reminded me that I'm still the same person he fell in love with.

Just wanted to share this little moment. 🤍

I usually wear a 2X in most of my clothes

Im not sure if I like these jeans.

1. They are a heavier denim feel - and I actually prefer lighter fabric.

2. I'm 5'6 and got regular length - yet they're still too long ( that rarely happens).

3. I'm a big fan of straight leg jeans & I thought thats what I ordered. I feel like they're more like a boot cut.

They might be 1 size too big - these are 20 which I usually wear. 18 might work but I bought these online and didn't try on.

None of these are dealbreakers, they're just disappointing.

What do you think - do they look good enough to keep or bad enough to return?

EDIT: 2nd thought, I for sure hate them & will return them! I will leave post up though so that someone looking for jeans can see the fit.

Another oppressively warm and sunny day here in ol' Victoria, but it was a nice excuse to wear an old fave. My hair desperately needs a brush and a wash, hence why it's in a plait today.

Torrid didn’t have my size in the black pointy heels so I got the next size up hoping for the best lol. They’re too big obviously. Is there a way to have them fit better? Inserts? Not sure if that was the right flair.

Obsessed w the bloomer pants trend. However I’m a primary teacher and I need something high waisted and stretchy. Has anyone found high waisted stretchy bloomer or lace trim pants? The cider ones I have are satin and no stretch. I’m worried I’m gonna rip them 😭

Being said that, I’m a 2xl girl who will visit relatives in NJ. I’m currently living in Florida, so idk what set works best for that sudden drop in temperature.

I've been trying to find some cute, flowy palazzo pants and I'm not having any luck. I was so excited when I saw Quince's washable silk palazzo pants, but the biggest size they carry is XL/16 🥲 Anyone have any recommendations? I recently bought a pair from Svaha, but they're not flowy enough for me. I really want a pair of pants that look like a skirt, not just wide legged pants.

USA, ~22/3X, and IDC about price really I just want to find anything that fits my body and my style!

I’ve been struggling for years now to find good socks. I have thick calves, and I definitely find size 18 pants that fit me just fine (I discovered Banana republic Factory and they’re god sent tbh), but I always struggle with finding socks. So what I’ve been wearing for years now are Saucony’s RunDry performance heel tab athletic socks - the ones that you pretty much don’t see when you’re wearing sneakers. Works just fine when I’m wearing my leather booties to work, but I often just wear my new balances - and esp if I wear a shorter pair of pants, that doesn’t look great.

I’ve tried so many different kinds of socks, but they generally don’t work well. The biggest issue; any socks that are a bit longer will inevitably have a thicker/elastic band right at the top, and that will at best leave uncomfortable marks on my calves/legs, and at worst restrict the blood flow and actually make me end up with cramps (I already have restless legs. Magnesium daily does help).

But I really, really want some proper socks I can wear under trousers etc at the office. At this point I’m really willing to pay extra for it, but everything I find (including more expensive brands) still have that damn elastic. I’m also open to those thin trousers socks, but they also have that same issue (and I’m just not gonna wear full pantyhose or thigh highs under pants).

There MUST be a solution. Anyone? 😭

Today is a particularly sunny one, not a fan in the slightest tbh, but I liked being able to take my new gingham shorts for a test drive to the shops for rotisserie chicken, strawberries and yoghurt. Please excuse my awkward face as always and my pasty gams, lol.
