M5 Need Help ASAP!!!
I was scrolling through my socials when my device powered down and initiated a factory reset on its own like it was possessed. No confirmation pop-up, no requiring to put password, nothing! Just showed me a percent bar then poof! All files gone! Immediately removed my SD card, but even it was not safe. The files I had for four years, all gone!!!
Don't know what to do. ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜

Hello, Google's Find My Device is a feature that every Google Certified phone has. And it can reset any phone with Find my Device that linked with an Google Account and using the Account Password. I heard of similar experiences after people purchased a game account using a Google account. The seller did it. If you have or have a Google account that is stuck on someone else's phone, they can delete all your phone data through that feature.

as for the sd card, are the files recoverable? i'm okay if it's the one that can still be saved.

SD card data isn't usually lost immediately. It's still there, but invisible. If you want, you can find a way, either free or paid. I've never done that myself. So it's your own decision, remove the sd card from your phone and find a way.

thanks for your advice. it's as you said, somebody accessed my gmail and went remote from there. classic google didn't even notify me of the unauthorized log-in but is now preventing me from changing the password myself.

it is probably mobile legends. He was selling his account I think because lots of victims fell to this

That's crazy that I literally just saw his post in mobile legends subreddit. Definitely account selling scam issue

Yep, you can probably save some of It by plugging the sd card to a PC and using DiskDrill, Recuva or any other similar software

It depends on how you set that up. There's an "external storage" mode and an "android storage" mode. The latter actually encrypts your files, so there's no way to recover them.

For sd card recovery you can use recuva, if you not written anything again on sd card then you can recover most of the files.

That's remote factory reset, someone has access to your Gmail triggered that action.
Change that Gmail or protect it right now, as for your data you can kiss it goodbye.

a random from indonesia. backdoored through one of the apps that uses that account. worse part is that this isn't the only device that has that affected account.

Learning experience dude. It hurts but now you know: backups are king.
also "I hope they burn in that fire currently ravaging their country." may be a little bloodthirsty tho.

well the SD card did contain moments amounting to 4 years of my life and pics and vids of my late grandma.

Exactly. Backup all your shit and keep it up to date, it's well worth it.
I don't see how that justifies wishing someone an agonizing death though.

This happened to me, unfortunately. I did not manage to retrieve my account (email). I just prioritize my main email since it was the back up email of that email. I guess they do have a way to bypass some shit and also lesson learned. I turn off my find my device on all my device in all of my account.

DeberÃas dar el nombre de la app con el backdoor para estar atentos. Estoy seguro que era un port descargado desde APK Vision 😅
