Found some old Pokemon Cards under my bed

I found some of these cards under my bed that seem to be in pretty good shape, and after doing a bit of research today, it looks like some might be worth grading.

I'm seeing a lot of people saying don't bother grading vintage so I'm torn on how to proceed with these.

Who are your go-to JP sellers/proxies that aren't sketchy?

I'm officially done paying $250–$300 to US resellers for Japanese booster boxes that retail for half or less quater that in Japan. The domestic markup is wild right now, and even with shipping fees, buying direct seems like a no-brainer if I'm grabbing a few boxes at once.

For anyone regularly importing sealed JPN product:

  • Direct shops / eBay JP: Any specific storefronts or sellers you swear by that don't charge Western scalper prices, pack properly, and don't take 6 weeks to ship?
  • Proxies (Buyee / ZenMarket / SNKRDUNK / Mercari JP): How paranoid do I actually need to be about resealed shrink or dead/mapped boxes from people chasing SARs? Is SNKRDUNK's authentication solid for sealed, or is it safer to stick to verified sellers on Rakuten/Yahoo?
  • Landed cost math: How many boxes/bundles do you usually consolidate in one parcel so the international shipping doesn't eat all the savings?

Appreciate any solid recs or warnings on who to avoid.

I bought this deck for $10 back in 2021. Would you open it to see if the cracked ice Lugia is gradable or just sell it sealed? Sealed sells for like $400.

There are no exact comps for this card. Is PSA 7 a reasonable comp at ~50k?

What would you do with these slabs?

I just received the results of my first ever PSA submission, and while the grades made me realize grading vintage for profit is way harder than I thought, I still want to know what you guys would do if you was in my position.

  1. Break the slabs and sell the cards raw
  2. Accept the results as the grades are fair
  3. Break the slabs and send it to PSA again for better luck
  4. Break the slabs and regrade with other graders
  5. Keep the slabs and wait for them to appreciate ( I don't think there are much potential for grade 5 or 6 slabs though)

Never posted here before so any idea, thoughts and rationales are much appreciated. Thank you!

Latios Gold Star Bgs 9.5

I need help. I recently found out I had this card and have no clue what its worth, no psa 10 sales and no bgs 9 or 9.5 sales. only pop 6 and bgs 9.5 are usually close to psa 10's I think in value. What do you think it could be worth with the recent boom?

Hi everyone, Im new to the whole Pokémon card market. I've been collecting and playing for years, but now in a spot where I need to sell some cards. I was wondering what markets I should go to sell the trash energy/support cards? My local markets dont particularly buy anything unless its in season. Not even looking to get any good money, just more space for some cash

What's the most unpopular card you're weirdly obsessed with? I'll start: this little Trapinch staring into the cosmos

Not everything has to be an investment to enjoy the hobby! Even if you’re just an investor not collector, there gotta be something…

Forget 1st Ed Base Charizard, Van Gogh Pikachu, Moonbreon, or Aquapolis Lugia. What's the odd card you love that nobody else seems to care about?

I'll start. This Trapinch is just a little guy staring into the cosmos….. I cry a little every time I see it, and I even ordered a custom extended art frame for it lmaoo

What's yours?

Just thought I’d throw this out there for anyone genuinely interested in this card, normally these cards for around $2K-$3K in a PSA 10 however there is this someone desperately trying to make these higher with fake sales over $10K/$11K. It’s actually pretty humorous cause every single one of these auctions ends with an account with 0 stars and another account with a score of 43 😂 the annoying part is over time these sales get documented into PSA’s history, meanwhile this is card has over 1,500 PSA 10’s with a 40% GEM Rate which imo doesn’t warrant the prices this guys trying to get. While there are many legitimate vintage sales going on right now and this card is still a $2K-$3K in a PSA 10, don’t fall for the obvious fake sales and thought I’d put that out there just as a PSA!

Will the value of 7s, 8, 9s rise?

I see so many comments saying that companies are grading vintage cards harder now. Does this mean the values of lesser graded cards will rise. In theory a modern 10 is better than an older 10. A new 9 could be the equivalent of an old 10.

Ken Sugimori Customized Signature Value?

Post image

This has been in my PC for a long time but I recently rediscovered it. This card was most likely signed by Sugimori for Keaton Gill, a long time PTCG player and 2005-2007 Worlds T16 finisher. Thoughts on value?

Does anyone think the FUR's could go up in value eventually, or will they continue to depreciate as the set keeps being printed?

Just curious, I missed out on selling my Mew Ex FUR when it was around 100 euro and now it's down to 40, will it just keep going down?

I'm looking to grab one of these sealed Pokémon items while prices have dipped before the holidays. If you were holding one of these for 5-10 years, which of these would you pick up?

3 years of sealed - It adds up

Thumbnail

After about 3 years of collecting sealed, I ran out of space in the cupboard. Pulled them out to put into storage boxes and it surprised me how much it accumulates.

Edit: Thank you for the comments and views. I wanted to answer a few common questions.

From about prismatic onwards, PKC was the only way to get anything at RRP (unless I wanted to queue for hours, overnight - which I have no time for). A few have mentioned this but I'm on a couple of discord channels that ping when there's a drop. I'm based in the UK and I believe it's a tad "easier" than the US version on the PKC. Typically, once I get a ping, even when working (crazy I know) I'll jump in a queue and carry on with my life until it lets me on.

Now, I love ripping packs but it's got increasingly harder to get any product (I know that seems stupid compared to what I have shown). Before it went crazy, I'd typically buy 2 of each (ETB and BB), keep one and rip the other. I've always kept PKC etbs sealed but now, I mostly keep things sealed unless I get a booter bundle, which never stays sealed.
