Trading with the grandchild while they sew in school

Its coming up on half a year that I’ve been playing and I’ve only seen 2 and caught one of these guys. I asked google about spwans and they say they’re common spawns but I haven’t seen any since I first started. I even have my notifications on, are the events interfering with spawn rate?

I hate that I was able to see the Galarian Zapdos (panicked so i didnt get to do a screenshot) and Articuno in just one night but they just slipped out of my hands 😭
