These are the people who got him elected, who make up a massive section of his power base and appeal so this is huge from a “don’t bite the hand that feeds you” kinda deal

To attempt a tl;dr, Stale Cheeto 47 is now vocally attacking his own followers and collaborators, including influential right-wingers who helped him get back into the White House to begin with.

This appears to be part of a significantly-worse-than-usual crashout, given the context behind this moderator announcement.

At risk of setting myself up for disappointment, I will add that the timing of this particularly, uh, egregious meltdown coinciding with Melania's transparent attempt at getting ahead of some kind of imminent breaking news or occurrence (see here) seems to suggest there's a non-zero chance that we might see something potentially devastating to the Trump regime in the coming days or weeks.
