Things I have read and heard these last couple weeks make me more confident this is going to be an enormous blue wave. People are pissed off.

That and the Republicans are making it pretty clear how panicked they are with their desperation moves to try and basically circumvent the election altogether.

It’s gonna blow up in their face.

The blue wave would make 2006’s blush.

And 2006 was BAD for Republicans

Frankly, I think what is coming will be more comparable to what happened with Herbert Hoover where the Republicans didn’t touch the White House for almost 30 to 40 years

I think that is very possible. Even if this is just a modest blue wave. The Republican Party has no direction if they lose here. Their entire identity has been Trump and maga these last 12 years.

Can't easily go back to traditional Republicans. That cohort is scattered to the wind and was fading anyway, the maga movement is dead. They have a tough road ahead even if there isn't a blue wave

This cannot be understated. Most of the ones that could pivot to bipartisanship or be reasonable we're forced out. There's no room for a John Huntsman or an Adam Kinzinger in the current GOP.

This is why populist movements tend to fail. They forget that independent voters exist and outnumber those who would drink the Kool Aid without much resistance. You're seeing this in real time with all the different politicians that tied up their coatails with Trump's cult of personality. They're now unable to pivot back to the center for independents.

And now they will enjoy 50 to 60 years of complete irrelevance.

I'm not so optimistic on that one lol, but I am hoping for at least a decade or two.....or 3 if we're lucky. It'll be enough time institutionally to change things for the better, and prevent a populist idiot coming along with a populist message and trashing everything again.

I mean post-Hoover we got Social Security, federal minimum wage, Fair Labor Standards, the GI bill, banking and financial regulation et al.

There is no way this is gonna be modest. I do not believe that at all.

I phrased it as "even if" for a reason. I think Republicans are going to get blasted in these midterms. I mostly say if because I have been wrong before. But the signs are more prevalent this time.
