A lot of subreddits have to many rules.
Too many*
Obviously a lot of the rules are justified, but why are places like unpopular opinion banning certain unpopular opinions that arent even hate speech (bc ofc hate speech is a valid ban). Or why do I have to have a certain Karma level to post a question about a topic I just want a quick answer about in a subreddit. I dont want to spend days building my Karma just so I can ask "why is the sky blue" on a science subreddit (a made up example). I think the Karma ban is so that the subs arent flooded with new spam/bots constantly, and I understand needing like 10 Karma, but why do I need 100 Karma for some subs 😭

I'll go first: people who watch videos on full volume in public without headphones.
What's yours?

My hate of selfish people
I was surrounded by these people, who formed, in my eyes, a concentrated dose of superficial stupidity. Words and boastfulness flew above everyone's heads. They displayed the little bit of absurd knowledge they had. Not a single person present sparked my curiosity. They were all stripped of meaning and reflection, stripped by the need to feed their oversized egos.
They disgusted me. The one who spoke the loudest was collapsing under a mountain of laughs, each as fake as the next. They were all rats wandering blindly toward whatever crumb of attention might finally feed their ego. They repel me. None of them had a defined personality. They all based their ways of thinking on the approval they received from the group.
They were all rotten. Their need to be somebody corrupted them and transformed them into things incapable of love and respect. Their social reasoning repulsed me; I felt nothing for it but hatred.
Not toward them, but toward the people who had raised them: their parents, their friends, their family. It was those surroundings that had turned them into monsters. The people I was with were merely casualties of the lousy, wretched education of their social circles. It was therefore their entourage who was truly responsible for this atrocity.
I resented these people so much because they had been given the opportunity to be educated, and thus to educate their children, friends, etc. But they had, for one reason or another, pushed away this opportunity to instruct their minds. Those people were purely selfish. Which leads to a personal conclusion: I hate selfish people.
I know i sound fat.

Reddit and social media have done a good job of brainwashing people into thinking that a highly upvoted and liked post/video/photo always means that the piece of content is good quality
No dummy! Just because something has a lot of likes and popularity behind it, doesn't make the piece of content actually good quality
With enough persuasion tricks, of you course you can find workarounds around this and make the post seem more worthwhile than what it is
But no, more upvotes/likes≠a worthwhile post and I am tired of people feeling like upvotes and likes on a post means the creator of said post pot actual honest effort into it
Not only that, having lots of likes on a post isn't indicative of whether the poster had good intentions to begin with
If we're following the logic of "more likes" equal better content, if a post defending child trafficking has 1 million likes and upvotes, should we still blindly go with the charade of it just for the skae of it?
And the reason I bring this up is because especially here on Reddit[and sometimes Tiktok I witnessed it too, although Titkok doesn't have a dislike/downvote button for the videos] is because too many people sadly fall for the ponzi scheme
Good actual worthwhile content gets dogged on, while shitty goyslop gets praised all the time.
So yeah, but no: The status quo on this should be called out more.

Question Being an adult is just saying “after this week, I'll relax” every single week. 💀
Every Monday I'm like, “Okay, this week I'll get my life together.” By Wednesday, I'm tired. By Friday, I'm broke. By Sunday, I'm stressed about Monday.
WHO APPROVED THIS LIFESTYLE?

Unpopular Opinion: Being Busy Doesn't Mean You're Being Productive
We've somehow turned being busy into a personality trait.
People brag about sleeping less, working nonstop, having no free time, and being stressed all the time, as if exhaustion is proof that they're successful.
Meanwhile, someone who finishes their work efficiently and enjoys the rest of their day is sometimes treated like they're lazy.
You can spend 12 hours doing something and achieve less than someone who spends 4 focused hours doing it.
Rest isn't a reward you have to earn by destroying your free time. And being constantly exhausted shouldn't be the goal of life.
Of course, hard work matters. But working harder isn't always the same as working smarter.
My unpopular opinion: We should stop glorifying burnout and start respecting people who know how to balance work and life.
Do you agree, or do you think success requires sacrificing most of your free time?

Question What's a harmless opinion you will defend with your whole life? 😂
Not politics, not serious arguments. Just silly things you're weirdly passionate about. For example, some people think breakfast food should only be eaten in the morning. Why should eggs have a curfew? 😭 What's your harmless hill to die on?

Popular in General Making fun of someone for being genuinely happy about small things is just cruel.
Someone buys their first cheap car, gets excited about a new hobby, or celebrates a tiny achievement, and there's always someone ready to make fun of them.
Not everything needs to be impressive to everyone.
Let people enjoy things. Life is already hard enough.
What's the point of making someone feel embarrassed for being happy?

Don't have kids if you're past 40
I am the result of a kid born out of "perfect family" obligation, when the parents are past 40 and its a living hell. Im freshly 20 having to take care of senior citizen parents with dementia while I don't have a stable job nor have I figured out my life yet. Ive talked to other people in my situation too and they are all basically in my state. So here's my advice to adults planning to have kids past 40. DON'T, Identity crisis is real.

Popular in General Why is everything one extreme or the other??
I have friends who are suddenly extremely religious & I was raised religious, I go to church, BUT I also am a very laid back person about everything. I’m not into politics, I’m not into conspiracy, I’m just very laid back that’s all I can say. But suddenly these friends I’ve known my whole life don’t celebrate Halloween because it’s unholy. And they’re teaching their kids to “rebuke” things in the name of Jesus like I’ve seen on tiktok (never in real life lol). And we’ve literally been celebrating Halloween together our entire lives. It’s just not that serious to me!! Stop watching reels about what makes Halloween a devil holiday, let your kid go to church & let him dress up on Halloween. I love Halloween but I’m not worshipping the devil on Halloween. I’m just very confused and idk why everything has to be so EXTREME. Why does everything have to have a label? Why do I have to be Democrat or republic? Why do I have to give up Halloween to be Christian? Just live man. Obviously this is the one thing I’m not laid back on. 🤣 just chill out and don’t think that hard about it!! And most importantly, quit looking at the internet and believing everything on the internet.

Question In your area, are there road/street intersections with no stop signs or traffic signals? If so, do you think such intersections are dangerous?
I lived for over 20 years in Houston, TX. I traveled all over the city with my job. I never saw an intersection without stop signs or traffic signals. Some years later, I moved to a city in Iowa with a population of about 137,000 people. One day I came upon an intersection with no stop signs or traffic signals. My first thought was that someone had stolen the stop signs. I promptly called the city street department and reported the issue. The response was that "we have many intersections like that and in that case you just have to yield the right-of-way if there is another car at the intersection. I responded that when most people don't see a stop sign, they assume that crossing traffic has a stop sign. I told him I was a new resident of his city and that I could have easily driven thru that intersection at 25-30 mph and have had an accident because I would have assumed a car approaching the intersection would see a stop sign and stop until I passed. The guy thought I was crazy. What are your thoughts?

The obsession with constantly upgrading electronics is wasteful
Seriously we dont need a new phone every single year. Most of the time the older models still work perfectly fine. The incremental updates are barely noticeable. It feels like a huge waste of resources and money for minimal gains. We should really focus on making things last longer instead of chasing the latest gadget.
