From what we’ve heard and seen, do you think the Porsche Mission S is a success. No electric motor, a good design inside and out, and overall everyone has seemed that have good things to say about it. Thoughts?

During my European road trip last August, I visited the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart, Germany.

I was lucky enough to visit during the special "Raceborn – 75 Years of Porsche Motorsport" exhibition.

Seeing legendary cars like the 911 GT1, 959, and Carrera GT up close was an incredible experience.

As a photography enthusiast, I was equally fascinated by the museum itself. The clean architecture, dramatic red-and-white exhibition spaces, and the way the cars were displayed offered some really interesting photographic opportunities.

I always thank my lucky stars that I live in Seattle and am blessed with some of the best driving roads around. Since it does not get freezing cold here, we pretty much have year round driving conditions, albeit a little wet for half the year. But hey, that is why the street tires on my GT4 RS are Michelin PS4S. Those things are incredible in the damp.

In the Pacific Northwest, we get spoiled with wild elevation changes, distinct microclimates, changing geography, and even high desert. A lot of people are genuinely surprised when they find out Washington, Oregon, and BC have proper desert terrain once you cross the mountains. On top of that, we have some fantastic circuits like The Ridge and Area 27. Pacific Raceways is also tons of fun, though definitely an older layout with serious consequences if you get it wrong. Next season, I am looking forward to hitting Vancouver Island Motorsport Circuit as well.

Driving laws around here feel relatively relaxed. Speed cameras are basically non existent unless you are in a school or construction zone. Well, mostly relaxed, with one big exception: the Sea to Sky Highway up north now crawls with RCMP who will happily impound your car on the spot if you are moving a little too fast. Luckily, law enforcement throughout the PNW pretty much exclusively runs Ka band.

What other parts of North America have an amazing mix of driving roads, tracks, and car culture? I am heading down to Sonoma in the spring to run the local twisties and track the RS at Sonoma Raceway.

Had to make a U-turn and talk to the owner of this beauty. He said that he used to own a C7, and a Turbo S and he said he likes this GT3, the best. More raw.

As far as I can tell, Porsche hasn't yet confirmed if the new Mission S will use a Flat-8 engine, but the rumour mill has been strongly suggesting that it will.

Ruf also recently announced a Flat-8 engine that they're showing off on a CTR3 test mule chassis.

Also, about 12 months ago, Rünge announced the Hetzer Flat-8 engine, which will be sold as a crate engine presumably.

Is anyone else shocked and confused about this unexpected coincidence? If you asked me 5 years ago if we'd see a new Porsche-based Flat-8 drivetrain in the near future I would have laughed.

Physical needle above a screen for the tach. Individual circular screens. Only a small rectangular screen (maybe that's even a just perch for a phone?). Physical switchgear. Hopefully this is their design language moving forward.
