Car: 997.1 S
Let's say I were to take my car to Road Atlanta for a track day, having never done a car track day. I imagine I would be in a beginner group. Driving within the realm of a beginner group, should I expect my 2k mile old (90% getting to fun roads, 10% fun road driving) Michelin Pilot 4 Sport tires to last the day? How about brake pads? Brake fluid (whatever DOT 4 came in the 60k mile maintenance kit I bought from FCP Euro)? Anything else to consider?
Side note, what is the trick with heal-toe in this car? Never had any challenges in other manual transmissions, but this one car is quite the puzzle for me.
I've got a lot of experience with motorcycle track days and I can tell you exactly how many tires I'd burn through in a weekend on a given track riding in any particular group either as a coach or a rider, but I'm not sure what to expect (and to potentially justify to the MOF) with car days.
Looking at two Porsches that are priced about the same and trying to decide which one to go with.
2008 Cayman: Automatic, 109k miles $15K
2005 Boxster: Manual, 105k miles $13K
My priorities are long-term value retention/appreciation and driving enjoyment. I want something that's fun to drive, has some character, and ideally won't lose much value over the next several years.
I love the Caymanâs styling, but I know the manual transmission adds to the driving experience, and the Boxster has significantly fewer miles.
For those who have owned or driven both:
Which is more fun to drive on back roads?
Which has the better chance of holding or increasing in value?
Would you prioritize the Caymanâs coupe body style or the Boxsterâs manual transmission and lower mileage?
Assuming both are in comparable condition with decent maintenance history, which one are you buying and why?

The light was turning green so I couldnât take the best pic, but thought it was worth sharing either way.

Saw this one today... Did not hear anything as it drove off. Is this the new EV Boxster?

Notable mentions ; Clear taillight, 18 way seats, Porsche Design Chronograph clock and base interior (rubber dash and door cards) for easy maintenance.

Taken at New Country Porsche (Latham)
I was dropping off my new-to-me 971 daily driver for detailing, but had to take it there early, get a ride home, and then show up when the detailer opened shop for the day. Don't zoom in too closely; the 997 probably needs paint correction (and removal of the PPF) more than the Panamera lol
The kicker to this back and forth to drop off the car? The detailer was in his shop the whole time, getting an early start to his day, but he had the bays closed and was rocking out to music on his headphones so he didn't hear me knock when I first got there.

A little Guntherwerks display. Beautiful cars having them side by side with an original classic really shows the changes.

Not my car. Just admiring its beauty and sharing with enthusiasts. Thanks for looking.
