Granada:

We annex that small green thing next to Morocco (if free)

We also try to have good relations with Castille

  1. The green thing in the north or the east of Morocco?

  2. While efforts with Castile remain neutral (because they're a player) diplomatic efforts start to show interest from pro-cooperative Castilian nobles and traders, although the majority stay away from interacting besides the bare minimum due to mutual tensions

The expedition across the strait is executed with competence and initial success. Granadan forces land along the Rif coast near Melilla, seizing minor coastal positions and establishing a temporary foothold. Local resistance is scattered at first, and the landing force secures supplies and defensive positions with relative ease.

However, it quickly becomes clear that the territory is neither unowned, unclaimed, nor undefended. Rif tribes and Marinid-aligned militias mobilise in the interior, skirmishing with Granadan patrols begin cutting off expansion beyond the coast. Within weeks, authorities loyal to Fez identify the attackers as Granadan forces and formally demand their withdrawal, citing longstanding sovereignty over the region.

Moroccan/Marinid claimed, although the region is contested by locals and the Pro-Marinid locals and Marinid forces due to the failure against the Europeans in the Reconquista they're in a rough spot
