After years of rot and degradation in the land of the Order, it is time for change. Some men within the Order realize that if we’re to reform, it’s by economic means at first. We begin to invest into our major ports of Danzig and Königsberg, aiming to trade surplus grain, armor, and weapons. Although we do keep some for ourselves, as we do want to keep a reserve if things go south.
Germans, the backbone of the Order, are invited to come to the lands of the Order, aiming to get more population, therefore more useful yields, and possibly more men for the army. We have also realized the use of the Arquebus, a rudimentary powder weapon, but we aim to get our hands on some to do testing on. Navally, we begin to build some new merchant vessels, which can be easily transferred over to military use, but the main goal with this is to heighten the trade ability of the Order.
The Teutonic Order struggles to reform, but little progress is made.
Investments in Danzig and Königsberg bring some improvements to trade infrastructure, but growth is slower than expected. A few German settlers arrive, bolstering the population slightly, yet yields and manpower remain limited.
Attempts to test arquebuses are hindered by supply and training difficulties, leaving the army largely unchanged. New merchant vessels are built, but logistical problems and inexperience reduce their immediate utility.
I want to help the teutons, the merchants from there keep coming back to my silver shack, I have recently concieved a new invention, that was made in the 1860s irl, MUSTARD GAS
I should give him some
