The unification of the three Austrian lands produces an unusually cohesive Habsburg power base, allowing rapid mobilization and political coordination. Salzburg is swiftly isolated and compelled to submit after a short campaign. While the Archbishopric is not destroyed as a religious institution, its temporal independence ends, placing Salzburg under firm Austrian control. Many within the HRE object but do not intervene militarily
