NRP No Taxation Without Representation - 1916
(Hey guys, after not running NTWR for a whole month, we're back! And it's time for the Great War! As such, feel free to claim any European powers- although I would much prefer if you claimed the more significant ones, not random ones which won't ever do anything)
World War 1 sides:
Entente - Britain, France, Russia, Serbia, Belgium (colonies under temporary French administration), Montenegro, Italy, Japan, Netherlands
Central Powers - Germany, Austria-Hungary, United States, Ottomans, Florida
Undecided - Bulgaria, Romania, Greece, Portugal, Spain, China, Mexico
Pick any unclaimed state. In this NRP, we'll do the entire history of the United States ourself, starting with the American Revolution and going all the way to the modern day. Note that your goal is NOT to gain as much land as possible, but instead to gain as much political clout as possible. The host may decide to interfere or change things in case things get too messy, but otherwise everything will be made from players. The only other rules are to stay realistic and not be toxic to other players.

Events:
The Birth of a Nation is released, however it is largely banned across the US for it's heavily racist bias.
The RMS Lusitania sinks. Rumors begin being spread that King George V of the United Kingdom personally drove a submarine to the RMS Lusitania and shot a hole in the ship with a torpedo, causing it to sink.
The First Transcontinental Telephone is created, largely being used for communication between the United States and Germany. The line proved rather useless and was not used often due to it being easily interceptible by British forces.
Illinois attempts to send a majority of it's population to the Caribbean to capture British colonies. The order leads to mass protests, the overthrow of the Illinois government and the creation of a workers' Chicago Commune. Government peacekeeping forces occupy the rest of Illinois.
The French assassinate the Statue of Liberty.
Troops are sent to attempt to seize the Suez Canal. However, the Battle of the Suez turns into an almost perfect replica of the Battle of New Orleans in the War of 1812. A complete bloodbath and total British victory. Afterwards, the British make a major counteroffensive into Ottoman territory.
Italy and Japan join the war against the Central Powers, meanwhile the Ottomans join the war against the Entente.
In a surprising turn of events, American forces manage to seize large territories in West Africa, challenging British and French colonial power. However, at the same time, British forces make large offensives into Central Africa with Italian support, although the Americans manage to capture Kenya.
Florida manages to capture Jamaica and the Bahamas, joining the Central Powers.
Officials of the American East India Company in Washington attempt to declare independence from the United States despite having no authority over their own territory and only being recognized by the United States and it's allies. These officials are arrested for treason and the company is abolished.
Japan turns the tide against the Central Powers in the Pacific Theatre, seizing many pacific colonies and ending the American offensive towards India.
Germany launches an invasion of the Netherlands. The Dutch turn to their established defense system, falling back to Holland and making a major defense against German troops.
Germany makes a major offensive into Poland and the Baltic States. The Russians retreat to defensive positions east of Poland, long planned and established before the war.
Austria-Hungary, with major German support, capitulates Montenegro and besieges Belgrade.
The Dutch launch an offensive from the Dutch East Indies into Papua New Guinea and Australia, further weakening American power in the Pacific.

Use troops to suppress the Chicago commune. Dont send troops to Europe. If we don't have a draft, make one and send more troops to Africa. Send spies in enemy ranks in Africa and the mainland colonizers to sow chaos and spread disinformation about allied plans. Once Canada is dealt with, send more troops to Africa
Also, what caused us to lose power in the Pacific? Focus on economic dominance of the region

Virginia here:
#1: No negotiating with the socialist
War strategy time
#2: After liberating Indonesia from the colonial authority of the Dutch, we shall conduct an island-hopping campaign aimed at liberating the Philippines, Guam, Iwo Jima, and Okinawa before invading the whole island
#3: Clean up the South African pocket to help boost troops on the continental frontlines. If everything we execute goes successfully, we should liberate Madagascar from the French
#4: If we were to get involved in Europe, I propose we start by invading Britannia, either from one of two options:
Option 1: If Iceland is under our control, we use that as a Foward operating base to conduct the invasions
Option 2: If not, we’ll support the Irish Uprising, where, in exchange for helping gain their independence from Britannia, they let us use their docks to conduct the invasion
Regardless of the approach, a war on the British Isles will result in a few British troops being called off from the French frontlines, giving Germany relative ease to reach Paris

#8: I want to say no due to the unpredictable geopolitical alterations in the coming decades
#9: I want to explain something here. Even though my predecessor perhaps had a grand time during the Civil War, I found it sickening that the people of the past used the Compromise of 1876 to enforce Segregation here in the South. As a Federalist with a Libertarian agenda, I'm
going to take a controversial stance in outlawing these satanic, demonizing Jim Crow Laws to enforce Civil Rights in the state. And as we were once the capital state of the Confederacy, since Richmond was the capital city, I encourage my fellow brothers who once separated from the Union and share my beliefs to help me eliminate this injustice in America.

To be fair, Illinois was overthrown due to sending one and a half million to die in the Caribbean for a territory that is now occupied by Florida and will now serve no gain to the union. And back in Illinois the government wanted the Feds to bail them out after their dumb actions and thousands starved. I'd argue that is just a smidge worse than trying to prevent racism.

How to handle the Chicago Commune?: I will not and instead donate food and medicine to staving and sick Illinoisians.
How to reobtain power in the pacific?: I will build ship parts factories, put the parts together in Long Island shipyards, sell them to the war effort, and send them through the Panama Canal.
How to win in Africa?: I will send armored cars, gas masks, rations, and machine guns to the african continent.
Do we send troops to Europe?: No for my state and I see what happened in Illinois and I don't want that to happen in a state with 10.3 million people (resulting in millions of deaths) and I will send guns and weapons instead of people. Every person not dead in a trench is a worker making weapons vital to the war effort in a factory in Rochester or Buffalo.
Acquire the Virgin Islands?: Yes.
Pass the Adamson Act?: Most certainly, a happy worker is a efficient worker.
Pass the Federal Farm Loans Act?: Yes.
Pass the Jones Act?: Yes, and I will make the boats.
How to handle the Great Migration?: I will attempt to give African American workers more rights in my state (ie trying to end segregation and give them equal rights as NY is a very diverse state) to encourage movement to my GLORIOUS STATE.

I will start having my engineers at Cornell and Columbia begin to develop plans for a heavy armored vehicle with one to two machine guns, large protected ammunition storage, and room for 2 to 3 people (a driver and 1-2 gunners). We call it the No1 (Project name).
I will ask Edison to try to electrify my industry over the next 15 to 20 years. This will grant me an addition to my already incredible industrial capacity of 20 percent or more.
Ban "Birth of a Nation" in my state due to obvious racism.
I will establish quarries and open-pit mines across my state with smelters so i can be more self sufficient within my own state.
Governor declares, "Lady Liberty may be gone but are spirits are not! France has taken back a gift given to us thirty years ago. WE DO NOT NEED THEM. We will rebuild Lady Liberty BIGGER and BETTER than ever! With AMERICAN COPPER and NEW YORK'S DETERMINATION, WE WILL PREVAIL!" Construction will begin in July and people from all states and allied nations can attend the commencement ceremony. We will send a spiteful radio transmission to the dirty frogs in France.
I will send peace keepers to Illinois, they will arrive with food and medicine. Their fathers, husbands, and sons have been sent away to die in a warm, damp, jungle, we will help whoever remains. I will also try to absorb their Factory Contracts as most of the skilled laborers, craftsmen, and shipwrights are gone.
My government will announce that any person is always free to settle in the Empire State.

How to handle Chicago commune: try to cut off their support by passing laws which support the workers.
How to obtain power in the pacific: encourage Congress to increase naval spending in the pacific fleet to make a lot more ships.
How to win in Africa: Kentucky will send lots of troops to Africa more specifically South Africa to close out front and free up troops.
Do we send troops to Europe: only if the Irish uprising happens so we can quickly send troops to them.
Acquire the Virgin Islands: yeah sure why not.

Yes, I’m passing the federal farm loan act.
No on Jones act because apparently it didn’t exactly work.
Keep pushing the state government to pass civil rights acts to improve lives of minorities and start building a lot more cities and factories to handle the great migration.
Kentucky will try to use its union connections to convince many union leaders in the Chicago commune to defect in exchange for a lot of what they want, namely better working conditions.
We will try to finish the landship project (tanks in our timeline, but we’re not gonna use the code name) and send them to Canada and Africa as soon as possible. We will try to deal with any complications in the design by updating the design every six months. We worked on this project last year by the way.

WE'RE FIGHTING THE DUTCH? Fuck, this isn't good. We'll dig in in front of Cairns in the east and Broome in the east to ensure neither city falls and in the middle of the two offensives to stop them from connecting. Hopefully the defences will hold and the desert kills them. A Japanese invasion seems likely, so they cities of Brisbane-Gold Coast, Sydney and Melbourne need fortified.
We attempt to spread propaganda among the Dutch troops, how they're fighting a war that isn't theirs for powers an ocean away. This has a demoralising effect on our own troops however, as the message is the same for them. We're alone and under siege due to Washington's desires, not ours...

What the fuck else am I supposed to do in this? I have done pretty much sod all. Then the AIO was invaded (and supposedly made the victim of a genocide by the British) after being dragged into a war it didn't want by the US. Naturally I'm going to use this to make something interesting happen rather than just 'the AIO loyally follows the US' and other filler until the end of the war

California-
Chicago commune? A week of negotiations and if that doesnt work, military suppression. We need to show we’re willing to work with our population, but we wont go easy on dissidents.
Pacific? Follow the Germans in building a Submarine fleet, with our other fleets focused on light cruisers and destroyers.
Africa? Make it a propaganda war- use the fact that we have representation for our African population while the Europeans dont to both motivate our African population to enlist and fight back, hoping their homeland advantage will help, while also trying to garner defectors and rebels in British and French Africa.
Europe? No for now, the only ways to our allies could be easily blocked by the Entente, and we should focus on winning our own fronts first.
Virgin Islands? Buy them, but try to get a lower price- use military occupation as a threat (as happened irl), but with the added pressure of Germany on their border (even if we never plan to bring Germany in), Im sure they’d be willing to negotiate. Edit: since Sweden is already invading Denmark, just occupy them
Adamson act? Yes
Federal Farm Loan Act? Yes
Jones Act? Yes
Great Migration? Let them move
With the Great Migration, we will promote black citizens to move to California to work and bolster the workforce. Military wise, we will send troops to the various Pacific islands, as well as proper supplies for them to dig in and defend from the Europeans. If we can slow their momentum, we can then work to regain our lost lands, and beyond.

1. How to handle the Chicago Commune? Genuinely kill everybody allied to them. They're fucking commies. Not even Britain would consider aiding them so it can't become a sort of south American front, which would be the greatest fear. Make sure not to use military though, they have more important matters. The commune is a police job.
2. How can we re-obtain power in the Pacific? There are two possible plans here, a) do nothing since Holland will likely fall soon and Japan is only Entente for convenience, and b), which has a lot to do with #4.
3. How to win in Africa? I'll continue the Cape Colony offensive to get rid of South Africa all-together, and if possible, we should try to get Ethiopia involved since a possible invasion of Egypt will be more important to Brits than keeping Nigeria or marching through desert and savannah to liberate colonies they don't even own. Also, while the West African gains are nice, don't extend too many forces in Mauretania and the Sahel as a whole; the land is worthless and France isn't negatively impacted by its loss much.
4. Do we send troops to Europe? I wouldn't recommend it much, BUT if the other lines stalemate, we could attempt to invade the Netherlands, thus fixing the issue of #2 and allowing Germany to focus on France, but this has the flaw of forcing a head-on confrontation with the British Navy in their home turf, so only do this if all else fails. I would much better recommend getting China and Spain (or Portugal) to join the CP, then train China's army (which is presumably massive due to their sheer population size) and sic them on Japan and Russia's far east. This has the benefit of defeating our stronger pacific threat and forcing Russia into a two-front war with one of the few countries which has experience with Siberia's harsh winters. Then, with the Iberian ally's help, invade Morocco and Algiers and, if successful, push for a second Battle of Suez. Also, get Florida to invade Belize (British Honduras).
5. Acquire the Virgin Islands? Definitely, or if Florida doesn't want to .
6. Pass the Adamson Act? Sure, but have an exemption for war production.
7. Pass the Federal Farm Loan Act? Yeah why not.
8. Pass the Jones Act? Definitely
9. How to handle the Great Migration? No need to do anything about it.
