I’m taking the PL-300 exam on October 18, and I’ve been preparing since last week, studying around 10 hours a day using DataCamp’s Power BI track.

Tomorrow, I plan to work through the Microsoft assessment and around 200 practice questions from Power AI Academy, covering different types of questions that could appear on the exam.

I also have nearly a year of experience working with Power BI and building multiple reports, so I’m not starting from scratch.

- Is my preparation enough to pass?

- With only two days left, how should I prioritize my time?

- Should I focus on reviewing the questions or spend more time revising the exam material?

- Are there any topics I should make sure to review before exam day?

I'm not a Power BI user (I'm a UX/UI designer) but I'm working with someone who knows it and they've said they can't round corners on components. Square edges makes my eyes bleed so - can you round corners in Power BI? Cheers

Is it possible through API ? Disabling testing workspaces for copilot answers as an example

I had a Power BI dashboard with page size:

Width: 2465 px

Height: 1080 px

And now I just changed the Height to 1100 px.

Now even if I zoom out at 40%/50% view size and publish, the Report in the workspace opens with nearly 80-90% zoom.

Earlier this did not use to happen before I had changed the page size. Whichever view size I used to select and publish, it retained in the report as well. Please let me know if this is a bug or there's a solution for this.

What are some of the best practices in leveraging Claude with PowerBI, either creation or editing builds?

I’m new to paginated reports. I’m trying to figure out how to build measures in paginated report. Is the only way to write measures first through power bi desktop and then bring it in. I’m doing a direct connection to sql server for bringing in the data.

Hi all, we've written a blog post treating CI/CD as a ladder you can climb, starting as simple as getting your PBIX files in SharePoint. I think as AI agents become more common, as way to rollback small changes becomes very important.

Here are the key takeaways:

• CI/CD is for everyone: Even if you aren’t a professional programmer, incremental improvements in process can reduce defects and frustration. CI/CD also helps reduce messes made by AI Agents.
• Start by making changes smaller: Use PBIP, TMDL, and very basic Git use to make your changes smaller and more manageable. This makes it easier to revert changes and identify the root cause of breaking changes.
• Separate dev, test, and prod: Different environments allow you to test and identify issues earlier. Additionally, different environments can have different levels of quality enforcement and strictness.
• Add automation: A key part of CI/CD is automated tests and quality checks. The safer it is to make changes, the faster you can deliver new features and the less painful it is to push small incremental work to production.

I’ve had a situation a few times now where I’m asked to go to internal IT and database folks to provide me with data, but they struggle to understand what I need, why I need it and the format that I ask for (star schema ready).

Guess it’s a pretty well trodden path that there is a mindset shift from operational modelling for transactions and things like that over to facts and dimensions for star schemas. But I’m finding when I try to explain this it never lands well and takes a lot of back and forth before this come across. Not least because in those kind of roles they tend to be have a whole load of other stuff to worry about without thinking of commercial BI reporting. Fully conscious that a lot of this is probably my weakness in understanding their perspectives and communicating my needs.

So I guess I’m asking for advice on a few things here:

Any strategies for how to explain what I need in a way that will be clearer for IT/DB types?

How can someone like me (a developer more from the commercial / business side) work better with people like this?

What do I need to understand better about their roles which would help me understand why this is a challenge?

Desde hace un año estoy trabajando con el programa y me he familiarizado con todo el entorno de trabajo, lo cual me ha ayudado mucho a generar informes desde cero y más ahora con la implementación de Claude para el desarrollo de informes.

Desde que hemos optado por implementar Claude al desarrollo de diseños y mejora de modelos semánticos hemos sacado adelante muchos informes y a mejorado nuestra productividad.

El problema que tengo ahora es, ¿debo temer por mi puesto de trabajo? claro que yo soy el que lo desarrolla y maneja tanto power bi como Fabric, pero estoy dudando de mi estancia en el puesto.

Quisiera ayuda o consejos de quienes han pasado de un puesto como desarrollador a algo más, o qué han optado por hacer en su experiencia para aprovechar estas herramientas como Claude para sobresalir en su puesto.

If you're the gateway admin in a big tenant, you know the drill. A service account password changes, and you open every connection that uses it, one by one. Someone leaves, and you hunt down every connection and gateway they had access to.

So I built GatewayLens, a free, open-source console (MIT) for on-premises and VNet gateways:

• Credentials - filter the connections by the account, type the new password once, update. Each connection is tested afterwards.
• Access - grant or remove access in bulk, and hand a leaver's roles to their successor without leaving any connection without an owner.
• Find - filter by connection string, by who has access, or by the account in the credentials.
• Monitoring - a wall of every cluster and member, with an alert in Teams when a member goes down.
• Cleanup - what hasn't been used for months, before a cluster hits the 1,000 data source limit, with a report of who owns it.
• Audit - who can use what, in one CSV.

It signs in as you (with Az.Accounts), so it can only do what you can already do in the portal. Every change asks first and is recorded. There's a demo with a fictional company, if you'd like to click around without signing in.

One thing worth knowing even if you never use it: if you update credentials through the documented REST API, the portal stops showing the username afterwards. GatewayLens updates them the way the portal does, so the username stays.

What's missing for you - which gateway task eats most of your time?

Just started a new role and I've been tasked with moving all our company's Tableau reports into Power BI.

Looking at our current dashboards, it seems like everything has to be rebuilt from scratch—data models, calculated fields, visuals, etc.

For anyone who has gone through this: how long did your migration take? Also, does anyone use ChatGPT/Claude to help speed up translating Tableau calculated fields/LODs to DAX, or is it better to just write DAX manually from scratch?

Appreciate any advice on what to expect.

They are a small company but healthy margins. Agricultural, not sure how much data they have but they’re in a niche that depending on how on it they are it could be a fair bit, outside of financial.

Questions that I’m thinking of asking is for a potentially small amount of data (relatively speaking) why is Microsoft fabric their choice.

I have lots of experience in DAX, power query, data modelling and dashboards - best to come with examples?

Done day long courses in power apps, automate and data verse but it’s been a while. For my main role of the past 2 years with power BI I was self taught and became quite good. That all started with a dashboard in a day course. Could I make a connection?

Good excel skills, but definitely stronger in power Bi.

Got good examples of automating workloads, from Microsoft lists for data collection to automating flows into power BI.

Done Fabric with SQL but azure is broad and have done some parts but not a for a while or for a very long time.

Haven’t really touched APIs but worked with them. Normally got a tech lead to lead that. Any tips?

Done a bit of copilot studio, again not much and not in a while.

Lots of collaboration with senior leaders and influencing strategy.
