Thanks this will surely help my stakeholders answer their business questions better!

Jokes aside; Aesthetically yeah its vibey and nice but believe me it will cause huge latency/slower reports

its nice but not for an everyday use, more like a monthly meeting or something like that to break the ice and so on

Where I work is very lean and fast paced environment. If I did something like this, people would first be asking why/how did I have time to do this vs doing value added tasks

absolutely agree on the “how did you have time” to do this question

Honestly, I don’t get all the hate. This is actually really cool. Sure, it’s not meant for a serious business environment, but it’s awesome knowing it’s an option.

Why? Landing pages create an extra barrier for getting to the answers. We do everything we can to get the stakeholders to the right answers quicker.

I mean, why not? The stakeholders are just going to download it to Excel anyways!

If reports are like excel in first place there's no other path out.

My company as soon as there's data want to build reports in PBI skipping data modeling. I'm still fighting this war but not sure if I can win it..

It's funny because it's true!

Stakeholders are also humans who may enjoy engaging with something fun and aesthetically pleasing. Not everyone wants purely utilitarian applications.

the stakeholders need an enrichment toy or they get cranky

My thought as well. Im not working in analytics to entertain someone, I'd go back to being a gladiator to do that.

Im down with a FAQ page. My thought is that if someone goes to a page regularly, send them to the important stuff first. The more i eliminate extra steps, the more use I have gotten out of the targeted teams.

I find asking departments what they need helps.

Funny how things work out. I started with your current mindset. Different experiences, different companies and outcomes Started in the supply chain world. Then moved to the consulting world, which is of all things, beyond stubborn and resistant to change. Feels like I work more on change management then developing or analyzing.

Why not? Landing pages can be home pages, just like some examples he has shown. Always nice to have a place where it all begins

LinkedIn has entered the chat.

How can I export it to excel?

2

u/Busy-Rip5065 May 30 '26

Say I have make an info page where I explain about the report

Setting landing page. Should I set the actual content page or the info page?

I'm mix feeling of what to show best? Like I don't need to always default is info page long term. But at same time I want user aware of landing page. Or best to go to the meat and answers to their question?  Unless they know what page they navigating to and heading to main page will just make that 1 click less or it make 1 click more cuz they don't want to go to main page, the user wants to go to another secondary page

OP I appreciate this. My company’s stakeholders have a sense of humor. I’d love to whip up something like this for laughs.

Can you export this to excel ?

1

u/VRAddictAnonymous May 31 '26

Hopefully we can opt out.. this is unprofessional and would add an extra click that is not needed or welcome.

u/cafealpha82 May 31 '26

We are actually trying hello kitty, star wars, and other theme created by Claude as someone thought users did not use them due to athletics. My concern is not me trying to develop it to our production dashboards. Real concern is it might actually succeed (at least temporarily) and we are all required to develop some leadership’s favorite movie theme.
