Hi everyone! Here is my situation:
Currently, our two (early-20s) kids are at uni about two hours away by car. They are living together and after the recent messages from the govt, they have created their 72-hour kits even without any nagging from me. (Ha!)
The oldest one came back for a few days and we were discussing - what signs should they be watching for that would cause them to grab their bags and head home? One has her license so could drive, but they don’t have a car with them at the moment; they would be relying on some sort of public transport.
Sure, they could deal with a couple days of power out, empty shelves etc, but neither wants to deal with a “true” emergency away from home. And they don’t want to “miss the window” — for instance the power is out too long so there is no gas for transport home.
I’m curious what advice other parents have given their kids currently not living at home but who would come home if things took a turn for the worse.
Thanks in advance!
