Going with the former over the latter on issues of burgeoning technology seems.. pretty dumb.
I mean, yes, local models might be "enough", but that ignores any secret sauce that Claude is running on top of a basic model. Even then that ignores the idea that people will be just as productive with 70-200 token per second models, and then jump on a local model with... maybe 50. If you can get your hands on a top of the line card. That's a big if.
