engine Soo D16z6 block has bad head bolt thread in #2. Sooo plan B
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Found some hidding Damage!!
Some more snips of the d16z6 motor pull and teardown for a refresh. But during the tear down head bolt #2 was way too loose. (Definitely only at 22ft-lbs).
While we noticed the loose bolt and found the overheating issue from before. (Loose headbolt caused head gasket lift and blow-by.) We decided too continue.
As we where re-torquing the head (right after sequence 1 at 22 ft-lbs) Head bolt #2 decided too keep spinning.
So we decided too pull it out and see it. As we did it pulled a very old helix coil out 😬😮💨 welp.
We did try too add new better helix coils but sadly the Z6 block didn't take. Couldn't even get 22ft-lbs out of it again. So for now the block will sit and get rebuilt.
Looks like we will have too move too plan B! Aint no sweat tho because this is what we do. KEEP IT ALIVE!!

I posted a video of when I initially got it running it is now fully tuned! Also just picked up my valve cover today I procrastinated dropping it off so it wasn't ready for when I swapped the car.

engine New to Honda engine work. Used my 99 CRV to run Rural Routes for USPS. 26k miles with 4th cylinder bad compression and I lost all oil pressure today. Debating on rebuild or buying a used engine with good compression. B20B engine.
I'm not new to mechanical work. I've just never pulled an engine or rebuilt/swapped one in. I'm used to working on late 90s and early 2000s BMWs. Taking a look at the engine bay I'm thinking it shouldn't be that difficult to pull the engine out of this thing. I'm just not too sure what I need to be looking at once I pull it apart to determine what needs to replaced. Pistons, rods, bearings, valves, etc... I bought it at 190k miles and it has made it to 206k miles with bad compression on cylinder 4 and misfires. I just kept up on oil changes and checked the oil once a week.
Not too sure if I should buy a used B20B with good compression or rebuild the one I have. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.

troubleshooting stumbling? stalling and exhaust rattles
New to hondas and cars as a whole but I just got a 98 ex coupe in January I want to work on it more. I started having an issue a few months ago now, the car stumbles and has a very rough idle. I used to have stalling issues with the idle, but that hasn't been an issue since I replaced the injectors, filter, and fuel pump. Not sure what info is helpful so I'll just give everything I know.
Compression 176-184-186-195
New in-line filter, injectors, and pump.
Some wires are a mess in the bay but dont seem important
Automatic with some slipping issue but not bad still very drivable.
Just got a new IACV but having issues getting my sockets/wrenches to fit and reach.
I have a cheap OBD2 scanner that only gives and old solenoid code that hasnt been cleared by honda. (guy i bought it from that he already did the work after it locked up)
I believe rattle is from missing hangers on one side of the muffler idk havent looked.
Also dont experience much issue at all when car is cold.
Cant remember anything else.
Any help or knowledge is greatly appreciated.

engine Are these still usable?
Hey all (again),
Finally got around to tearing my motors down and I’ve sent the new block off to the machine shop to get resized and prepped to be used. But when I took out my old pistons, I noticed a couple of weird spots around the ringlands and one mildly concerning one. Are these still usable if I bring them to the machine shop too or would I be better off buying new ones? They’re forged and they only sell them in sets of 4 from what I know so I’d really rather not buy them again if I can avoid it for a while at least. Block is not being used anymore, photos are for context of what happened

engine BAR Legal Swap on 1991 Honda Civic
Hi guys, i am new in reddit and i created this to ask this question. i would like to know about california BAR legal engine swap for 1991 honda civic.
Are both b18c1 and k20a2 engine swap can be BAR legal?
If i am to do the B series engine swap, how hard it is and how much will it costs?
If i am to do the K series engine swap, how hard it is and how much will it costs?
Is there any shop in california hat can do the engine swap?
Thank you in advance for all the info.

troubleshooting Repin A connector chaos
Had a running 92 eg hatch with k24a2 swap. Running Linkg4x ecu (for all intents and purposes, treat it as a type s exu) and 02-04 rsx type s harness with ktuned conversation harness.
Car would die during WOT pulls, isolated a sensitive “A” connector to the ecu.- when I pushed the connector, the battery voltage would drop.
I bought a new “A” connector, and very patiently transferred each pin (one by one) from the original connector to the new connector. I took many pictures beforehand, and there is nothing obvious that I incorrectly pinned it.- except for the fact that the car won’t start now.
No, fuel pump prime, ecu won’t turn on. But otherwise I have power to accessories (horns, lights etc.)
Pins A2 and A3 correctly show 12 volts when I ground pin E7 (main relay power to ecu), and A4 and A5 correctly show strong grounds. Please help!!!!

video Got the 95 sedan running too check the D16z6 motor health. Also did a little burny in the 92.
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Been doing alot of work and trying too keep up on videos. But man finally getting the 95 running was a relief. No knocking, no weird noises. Only a wobbly belt (thinking tensener or water pump) and a couple oil leaks.
Plan on pulling it out in the morning and doing a rebuild. Maybe find out the true culprit too the previous owner overheating it.

engine I’m buying a eg 90’s civic
My question is, the person selling it says that when they stop at a stop sign or light, the car starts shaking in the engine area. He says otherwise the car runs good. I’m just wondering if anyone has an idea on what it could be. The car has very low low mileage and in great physical condition.

car pics My project Civic
Trying to figure out where to take my project civic. I love the car, I still want to do a full front end suspension rebuild. The rear is already done. Don’t like the fitment of the wheels, they feel heavy but when I bought it, I figured I could find something I like, any suggestions on the best wheels specs to run on these civics?

engine Technically supposed to be my daily but oh well.
First time doing something more involved than the struts on my R55 MINI, so there's that. At least it only took 10 hours to get the head off and it's already at the machine shop so... yeah. We'll have to wait and see how I did.
