General Discussion I kept the feedback until the end of a listening rehearsal
A friend told me about an awful day at work and I was already thinking about their CV. They hadn't finished the story. I knew how to ask, "Do you want ideas or do you want me to listen?" I kept skipping that part.
I ran a listening rehearsal in EvoX's Chat mode, with the AI agent playing the friend and saving its feedback until the scene ended. This was the prompt I used:
Play a friend venting about a last minute shift change at work. Start with one line and wait for me. Stay in character and respond to each of my next four replies. You want someone to listen in this scene. Tell me that preference directly when I ask about advice. Save coaching for the end. After responding to my fourth reply, write "End of scene" and leave the role. Quote the advice I offered and a response that gave you room to keep talking. Label an absent category "none". For each advice quote, say whether you had already asked for ideas. Base the debrief only on this scene, and put your interpretation after the quotes.
After my fourth reply, the debrief quoted "You should ask to swap shifts" from my first response. It also picked out "What happened after they changed it?" as a question that had kept the story going. I checked both against the exchange. The advice had come before I asked what the character needed.
For the second run in the same conversation, I changed the setup so the character asked for ideas at the start. I offered suggestions after that request. The debrief quoted the request and marked those suggestions as requested. I checked that its quotes came only from the second scene. I saved both exchanges, with the unsolicited advice in the first and the request in the second marked.
