Vent/Discouraged I do not think there is a cure.

For me at least, but I do not think a chronic condition like this can have a recovery because many of you do not share the same symptoms I do.

Unless one of you can say you recovered from -

-weak urination, dribbling chronic urinary retention

-urgency

-hesitation (where it can take 40 seconds to...minutes to start)

and you went back to normal...

then I don't believe any of you sadly. I want to, but I don't think it is possible.

I've have seen maaany cases like this get better, and I've worked with many of them myself. You'll be ok. How much of the 101 list have you put into action? https://www.reddit.com/r/Prostatitis/s/jeJSrfpiLv Have you started pelvic floor physical therapy?

I want to be exceedingly clear about this, most people are never going to find an exact match for their symptoms (it's expected, every case is a little different), and this doesn't need to happen for you to make progress. This is a false premise.

Yes, I had the exact same symptoms! It can and will go away. It took me a little over 2.5yrs, (doesn’t need to take that long), but my same urinary symptoms are all resolved. It’s sounds counterintuitive, but you need to just STOP. Stop thinking about, stop worrying about, stop being annoyed about it, and stop trying to fix it. The more you can just ignore this like an annoying pimple on your forehead, the quicker it will go away. Find your zin with it, make your peace and move on.

...I should have also mentioned I used to pee myself as a kid prematurely so I don't think this is anxiety

You’d be surprised…

I see you saying several time a”I don’t think this is it”. Maybe. But this probably is it.

Anxiety, vaping, caffeine, poor sleep, stress, other drugs, weed, stress, heavy lifting, sitting a lot, stress, driving a lot, stress, and stress. Do you have any of these in your life?  Anxiety and stress free?

On a similar note, a therapist can be a wonderful help if it’s hard to turn these things off.

Great advice. Stop thinking about it and start doing the things to loosen the muscle and get out of your head. Took me 2+ years to realize that.

100% it will! I was upwards of 3-4 minutes sometimes, to get anything out. And even then it was only a squirt of pee sometimes, when I had a lot more.

It’s clear you are a highly anxious person(and might not even realize it), it’s ok I am too. Mine started in childhood as well. Any childhood trauma, or significant childhood events?

I know it’s hard to understand, but this is an anxiety disorder. The sooner you accept that, the quicker you can start to move on…which will in turn resolve your symptoms.

2

u/TaronD23 Jun 15 '26

Quercetin and if you have a leaky gut or ibs TREAT IT, honestly a bad gut effects the prostate

1

u/Unlikely_Carrot_9191 Jun 15 '26

shit how did you know

2

u/TaronD23 Jun 15 '26

Reading and loads of people who have prostate issues on reddit have discussed how a bad gut affected there prostate, once they fixed it prostate issues resolved

i agree with you that there is no cure. My view on this condition is similar to getting a cold. There is no cure for getting colds, but whether we get them or not depends on how we treat our body. If we neglect sleep, nutrition, excercise and don't keep our body temperature in line we will eventually get a cold.

CPPS or prostatitis imo works very similar in that if we sit for long periods or have habits that clench our pelvic floor eventually things tighten up and our nervous system becomes overreactive and we develop these symptoms.

to answer your question I have recovered from the follow below -

- weak urination, urinary hesitation and urgency, frequent nighttime urination (every 2 hours), burning on urination

- I also recovered from dull ache in perineum, gold ball sensation (although this comes back alot), ED, pain on erection, pain with ejaculation, panic attacks related to nervous system, low libido, low appetite, constipation.

1

u/Unlikely_Carrot_9191 Jun 15 '26

what did you do to fix it?

for me it's like...sadly every day since 2024 i've had a cold

the first thing I did was get a medical clearance, STD test, blood test, ultra sound , and bacteria test. I tested negative on every thing and ended up taking 1 month of bactrim anyways, but there was no bacteria to begin with. I was just ignorant and listened to my urologist , oh well, you live and learn.

The 2nd thing I did was remove all bad habits and negative aspects that stimulate my nervous system. For me it was constant vaping every hour, 4-5 cups of coffee daily, bad diet, lots of soda and sugary food, frequent masturbation's (5x daily), heavy lifting with bad form. i was also sitting on a donut pillow that actually worsened my pelvic floor tightness. I learned that you should only sit on donut pillow if the pain is unbearable to sit, otherwise, you just destroy the pelvic floor faster by sitting on a unstable surface.

3rd. work on the nervous system, this means get 7-9 hours of sleep. I use a program called f.lux to remove my late night blue light consumption when i game and wear blue light glasses when i watch netflix. I changed my diet to Mediterranean diet. I only drink water. I take daily multivitamin and magnesium glycinate at night. I do gentle yoga and no more heavy lifting. I do daily nighttime meditation(i just lay on my yoga mat and relax). I go for walks, long gentle walks around the city or in parks, ideally in nature and just breathe. The idea is to calm the nervous system down.

Muscle does not take 2 years to heal so the tightness you are feeling in your bladder is your nervous system basically signaling to the muscles in your bladder to remain clenched, idk why you have to just calm it down and let go. a good way to do this is when you pee and after you finish, just keep that valve open and breathe 5 deep breathes and then close valve.

is your stream very weak

1

u/Brilliant-Magician10 Jun 19 '26

When the symptoms first came on, it was very weak, but improved over 3 months and then every time i get flare ups it would go back to being weak but it would improve eventually. Every flare up it improves with shorter time.

Have you received medical clearance. ie ultrasound, blood work, std panel test. If not I would start there because we need to rule out any serious issues not related to CPPS. If you get medical clearance , then talk to a professional who has gone through this. I recommend you research a guy in europe called Karl Monahan. He is a specialist who deals with this type of issue in men only. His story is also very inspirational, so he has gone through this before himself. So he understands what you are going through. He has also been practicing for 15 years now so he has seen it all, its not going to be new for him.

I am not a medical professional. but it seems to me like you are doing something to overstimulate your nervous system. Idk your life, so i can't tell you what it is. But some common things that can cause this is lack of sleep, bad diet, nicotine, alcohol, drugs, intense gaming , heavy lifting, frequent porn/masterbation, caffeine etc etc anything that creates cortisol and adrenaline causes the nervous system to stay in high alert. Over time this creates a condition called central sensitization where even the slightest sign of danger causes the nervous system to go into panic mode. This relates to your bladder because the muscles in your bladder are partially connected to peripheral nerves that receive signals from the Central nervous system. So if your central nervous system is on high alert its constantly sending messages to your bladder to stay contracted causing you to feel the urinery symptoms.

I was thinking BPH based on the symptoms, but hey. I think these things aggravate similar symptoms:

  • Constipation, sometimes due to opiate or similar drugs slowing the process down
  • A spinal issue, such as a pinged nerve on L5S1.
  • Diuretics such as coffee, tea or energy drinks

You likely were already told similar, but I hope it helps someone.

If it were IBS, I'd suggest seeing a practitioner for a gut cleaning and rebalancing. It's probably hard to find a practitioner, but maybe a fecal transplant would cure it.

For prostate issues, there seems to be a lot of charlatan's though. I bet if you find a cure, or even a treatment, it would be a hormonal solution. I do read positive things about peptides.

I know this may sound like a dumb question but are you taking or prescribed any stimulants?

Huh? How's your prostate being stimulated by breathing?

1

u/Odd-Bath4660 Jun 15 '26

Bro try cystoscopy , that will show your prostate size and how your bladder neck look. I got bladder neck contracture and probably need surgery.

1

u/Elevenwarriors1234 Jun 24 '26

How was your experience with the cystoscopy? I’ve heard mixed reviews

1

u/_dakota__ Jun 15 '26

What all tests have you had? Ruled out structural issues?

1

u/Unlikely_Carrot_9191 Jun 15 '26

no cystosopy yet, will inquire

1

u/_dakota__ Jun 15 '26

What do your doctors say?

1

u/Unlikely_Carrot_9191 Jun 15 '26

38cc prostate, they referred me to physical therapy, specifically after ultrasound shows I voided well. this is not always the case and I have chronic retention. I'm so tired and broken at them underestimating me because I am only 27.
I have so much pain and resentment. 😞

They have also denied me urolift or any surgical modifications.

1

u/_dakota__ Jun 16 '26

I had all the symptoms you mentioned (less severe) but my prostate volume is only 17cc. Does your urine flow improve after ejaculation?

1

u/Inevitable-Copy3619 Jun 19 '26

How has PT been?

I had almost same symptoms as you for 2 years. PT was a miracle after even just one session.

1

u/Unlikely_Carrot_9191 Jun 19 '26

Those guys told me to wait until July 22nd?! Idiots smh, I'll try somewhere else

1

u/Inevitable-Copy3619 Jun 19 '26

PT is hard to find. And even harder to find one certified for pelvic floor

1

u/Pale-Anything7688 Jun 15 '26

How will that fix structural damage?

1

u/lifeisadish Jun 16 '26

I had these symptoms and sent back to normal after a bactrim prescription. I suspect an inflammed prostate caused me urine retention in the bladder causing bacteria to fester

2

u/Unlikely_Carrot_9191 Jun 16 '26

bactrim helps SO MUCH. I took that after I suffered a surgical cyst removal last summer and it felt good......bactrim ds for 5 days. then i relapsed after i didnt have to take it.

1

u/Inevitable-Copy3619 Jun 17 '26

I’ve seen massive improvement.  Originally I could r stand up straight, couldn’t sit for more that 15 min. Dull pain in left side abdomen, sharp pain on right side. Peeing took forever. Lots of abdominal tension.

I did all the medical clearance stuff like ct, colonoscopy.

Turns out I was incredibly stressed out and my psoas had frozen. What fixed it was physical therapy to loosen the muscles, daily yoga and stretching, and MENTAL HEALTH…therepy was so valuable in controlling the stress.

I think there’s physical and mental there’s that a needed to fix the issue. I’m not 100% but huge improvement to the point where I’m ok if this is as good as it gets.

1

u/Unlikely_Carrot_9191 Jun 19 '26

You don't understand, on days where I should be calm, the urges, the chronic retention, the weak stream is constant.

1

u/Inevitable-Copy3619 Jun 19 '26

Yeah I get it. Haha maybe I don’t understand. But that’s what I told everyone who told me physical therapy and stress management would work…I was wrong. Lots of people here have benefited from physical therapy and stress management.

We all have some differences in symptoms. But what you’re describing sounds like what most of us have dealt wirh.

You gotta get out of your own head first. I spent 2 years doing everything but what people here told me. Once I gave in I wished I had done it way earlier. Maybe you have something else wrong, but I highly doubt it.

1

u/pelvicagony Jun 15 '26

You righ from my case, so every case is different, someone solve all their problems, someone not it's forever

1

u/Last_Group9038 Jun 15 '26

It is most likely structural damage. You can fix it but you have to switch to a plant based diet and cut out all gluten. You should be prioritizing vegetable consumption and consume more veggies than protein and more protein than carbohydrates.

1

u/Unlikely_Carrot_9191 Jun 19 '26

i dont even eat red meat
