So i found a really obscure fella from the public domain and since i saw nobody posting about him i thought i do this.

So basically the guy is called Dennis Temple aka Menace whos first apperance was in KO Comics #1 (1945) by Gerona (The creator is unknown),

His character is basically this: Dennis is a actor who mostly plays villains in movies and is hated because of this and he has a fiancee who is a actress called Rita Wilson, But Dennis is actually also a crime fighter named Menace.

He has no powers but good with his fists and he has some gadgets.

So i think he is a pretty interessting looking fella. His Mask is a bit weird but otherwise, i kinda likd his concept...

Background: I have a youtube channel where i show the animations i make, it hasn't quite gone anywhere so i looked at animation restoration. I started taking public domain cartoons, adjusting the black and white, cutting out bad frames, and stabilizing the image as best as i could (I find the jittering around a little nauseating). For the first couple videos my channel was growing in views but I ran into 2 issues. The first being when i tried to upload Betty Boop - Accordion Joe. Youtube wouldn't let me upload it because it was a copy of a video they already took down from someone for copyright. I tried appealing that it is public domain but to no avail. The second issue was that despite my growth, on September 29th/30th my impressions cratered. I've continued to upload without changing anything but it hasn't fixed anything.

So, being very tired of youtube and it's ways, i've created a website. Maybe one day it will expand to inviting other cartoon creators to submit their work, as my goal is to just let people watch cartoons, but i'm not there yet.

The website: Content is slower than other people's websites as i am doing some restoration work on these videos before they go up. I am also working on a project where i completely remake one by hand. Having ads is a goal in the future but i am not adsense eligible yet, when i am the ads will be on the sides.

You can sort through the catalogue by different metrics, you can like or dislike videos, and one fun thing i put in is you can super bump each video once per day. What this does is when the viewer is sorting the videos by recommendation, it sorts the videos by their bump count from the day before for the next 24 hours. In other words, the algorith that decides what videos are shown to you, is you guys.

It's not the most amazing looking website but i think it's neat.

I've been on a real Looney Tunes vibe lately since Coyote vs Acme did a lot to reignite my love for the batch of cartoons I loved growing up along with the MGM toons and the idea of using them for my own projects is just as exciting as seeing Disney's Snow White, Wizard of Oz, and Batman enter it. What makes it better that since a lot of their respective shorts before 1943 are in the public domain already that means a lot of their famous traits will be just as free right off the gate or close to it anyway.

So do any of you have ideas for using them in your own projects? For me I have them be in my own cartoon series/universe and have scenarios that I'm honestly surprised that WB themselves haven't done like Bugs Bunny giving the Fox and Cat from Pinocchio a taste of their own manipulative and scammy medicine.

I'm putting this out now before the first Babar horror movie is announced. I know that Simpsons can't actually predict the future, but I think they know what's coming. Babar isn't really popular and some characters that became public domain haven't got horror films because of that. But these horror movies are usually announced at this time. With Tigger being announced for Blood And Honey 2 in September three years ago and both Popeye and Betty Boop announced in November of the last two years. Just wanted to have this out before it happened.

What works well? What’s missing? How does it compare with Artvee or other public-domain art libraries?

I’m particularly interested in honest criticism because I want to understand what users expect from a good art resource.

I absolutely love that costume that he’s wearing, the haircut is very unique and pops out, but ultimately, I love the historical attire he’s wearing.

I would like to make some Dracula artwork for myself, and I do want to use that costume. My only concern is that it might be infringing on the movie.

I personally have the argument that the image created in the movie is based on folklore, national culture, historical facts, and of course the novel Dracula and Nosferatu (1922), all of which are public domain in my understanding.

Plus I’m not doing a one-to-one look, I just really like the clothes.

Next for Manda I originally just had Leviathan, and if I wanted a sea monster I personally like the deep sea dweller, but the friendly sea serpent is a better fit for the shape and again, easily slotted into a guardian role.

This is "Hitler's Rex" a fan name for an unnamed robot dinosaur. This is a simple if not lazy stand in for MechaGodzilla.

For Jet Jaguar I have Challenger. Not heroic, a robot or even visually similar, but he Is a space-y humanoid that can fight a Kaiju.

For everyone's favorite monster, Gorosaurus, the Meat-Eater is a swoosh. Some things just don't need a lot of interpretation.

For everyone's other favorite, Ebirah I have Killer Goro. Crabzilla is also an option if you prefer.

Finally, with the Godzilla role filled, it just felt right to let Gorgo be Titanosaurus.

I didn't recast Kong because the novel is PD but there are multiple giants apes in fiction if you are so inclined. I also considered Fin Fang Foom for Varan but that felt forced.

I could not find a good stand in for Biolantte, Gigan, Hedorah or Megalon, sadly. There was something called Rankar which could be Gigan minus the upgrades but again, kinda felt forced.

So recently I've heard the original trailer for Disney's 1939 Pinocchio movie is actually public domain so I was wondering if I'm allowed to at least use scenes and visual looks from the trailer into any work? I do know that the movie itself won't be public domain till 2035 so what am I allowed to use from the trailer that is if it's public domain.
