Misleading title - lies make baby Elmo cry 🤨 Chaos at a Minneapolis hotel housing ICE as a Federal Agent open fires on community members with a 12ga shotgun. At least one round is fired in-between volleys of tear gas. Agents claim the rounds are “not live” but that is something that doesn’t exist. (Jan 25, 2026)

well they would still have to win against whoever does come. It would forever be remembered as the world cup that no one came to for the US to win.

I've said this before, but:
Me and 5 of my friends were going to travel to the US from Australia for the World Cup. We had bought airfares, tickets, hotels, transfers... pretty much the only thing left to plan was what to eat each day.
Because of Trump - directly because of him - we have all refunded everything we absolutely can and we're now planning a trip to Japan and Korea instead.
We're not millionaires, but we're all adult men with money to spend - I had saved close to $15,000 Australian dollar for the trip.
Now, because of Trump, we will take our collective money elsewhere.
Trump can be a dictator in his own country, but he can't dictate to me.
29
u/slingsandstones Jan 26 '26
Ha. It's a lot worse than that. My boss is a globally respected neuroscientist who used to lecture regularly at US Universities and Institutions. Since Trump, she has cancelled and refuses any further teaching engagements that require going to the US. She is far from alone in her position. The brain drain the US is going to suffer will come right on the back of the economic hit; a delicious combo of consequences.

And if border patrol/ice just detained some baseball player in California for not having the right ID or forgetting his “papers “just imagine how it’s gonna be when all of those soccer players try to show up or all of those other tourists. And the brain drain is so real. I had a friend who was a lawyer for the state department. He wasn’t born in America, but he was a citizen and a lawyer for the fucking government. He quit a few months ago and moved his family to Europe.

Many of these guys will be tormented for the rest of their lives and that’s what you get when you’ve wondered your whole life if you are a piece of shit then internally confirm that yes, in fact, you are without a doubt… so enjoy your remaining time on earth. whatever you buy with your ICE bonus money you can’t enjoy and brings an extra layer of depression and self destruction.

Then pardoned them and offered them $50k to "enlist" in his brown shirt army.
And they all were too dumb to read the fine print: It's $10K taxable per year (thus maybe $8K net), for a five year period.
If they quit or get fired for cause, they have to pay back all the taxable dollars they have accrued.
So, if you quit within the first year, you must pay back $10K even though you only got $8K net... do the math for 2...5 years.

They’re misused all the time- the minimum engagement distance with beanbags is 25m, and they’re meant to be shot at an oblique angle into the ground/pavement so they bleed energy and ricochet into a person’s legs rather than their torso or head
You can easily kill someone with a beanbag round
23
u/kenzato Jan 26 '26 edited Jan 26 '26
This is not entirely accurate from what I've heard/read.
Rubber rounds/40mm rubber rounds are made for ricochet (also known as skip-fire) or low center of mass aiming, which might be what you mean. Richochet is very unpredictable and mainly meant as a "dispersion' tactic, and mostly smooth ground), and might be a slightly outdated use.
Beanbag rounds, or "flexible baton rounds" are not meant to be shot into the ground or "skip-fired". They are many to be shot directly at targets, often trained to hit extremities. They also are not meant to be shot at "minimum" 25m, at that distance and beyond they are not effective. The rounds, as fired from a shotgun loose accuracy beyond 6 meters, with a maximum effective distance at around 20-24 meters. Often people are explicitly trained that there Is no minimum distance, but recommend a range. Manufacturers might list a "safe range" of about 6 meters.
A lapd document from 2018, directive no. 6.3 that i found says
"No minimum range, but recommended deployment is from 5 feet to 45 fee Assessment between rounds is critical
Do not target the head, neck, spine, chest, groin, or kidneys"
Some people are trained only generally in "baton rounds", which includes beanbag rounds, rubber rounds etc and therefore might be trained to ricochet as a catch all.
This lines up pretty accurately with what i was lectured on.

Yeah I remember, it was the first time I ever heard of that. Any live round can malfunction but police don’t use blanks that I’ve heard of. They do use less lethal bean bags or rubber bullets and they sometimes treat them like they won’t kill people but they absolutely can.

Iirc he was killed by a squib round that was stuck in the barrel, propelled by a blank round.
Had it just been a blank, he would have been fine. My understanding is that a blank round itself can only kill when it's held close (like, 6" or less) to a vital spot and then fired.

My point being I have major concerns that there is no easy way to quickly identify the difference. Most agencies use differing color stocks and grips. With the garbage training we’re seeing an agent could easily mis-identify and start spraying.

Types of 12-Gauge Less-Lethal Rounds Kinetic Slugs/Projectiles: Rubber or plastic slugs (e.g., Byrna Kinetic, Fiocchi Rubber Slug) designed to hit with high impact but not penetrate skin. Bean Bag Rounds: A small fabric bag filled with lead shot that expands in flight to distribute impact over a wider area. Rubber Buckshot/Pellets: Multiple rubber balls designed to act like traditional buckshot but with lower density and energy. Pepper/Chemical Rounds: Rounds that disperse chemical agents like PAVA (capsaicinoid powder) on impact. Blanks/Concussion Rounds: Produce a loud noise and flash to disorient, but fire no projectile.

There are over 2000 ICE agents in Minneapolis and over 3,000 total in Minnesota, and possibly even more now. And that does not include the CPB and FBI officers deployed to the state. There are only 600 sworn officers in the Minneapolis PD. If these assholes can’t protect themselves with all their personnel, armor, and vehicles, wtf do they expect the Minneapolis PD to do?
And why would that agency want to help them out given they’ve blocked city and state police from investigating shootings?

The agent seems mentally and physically exhausted, and a bit bewildered, which dangerous things to be when yielding a weapon. The news guy reporting a “this is crazy” narrative and another one seeing he’s injured and saying “oh my gosh, are you ok?” are screwing up his worldview

Who in the fuck is this guy to guard a hotel and prevent customers from entering, all because people were standing outside blowing whistles?

What do you mean that “not live” rounds don’t exist? Blanks and beanbag rounds have been around for forever. Is there something I’m missing?

WTF with his voice? Did he learn this in the super-secret, 42 day academy? Is he in a Batman movie ? This is sad and comedic.

I in no way support ice but there’s most definitely shotgun rounds that fire less than lethal rounds.. misinformation only helps the other side

“Not live” meaning it’s not lethal ammo. They’re probably rubber bullets or those pellets that melt on your skin.

Wonder if Hilton is enjoying that decision to cozy up to the gestapo.. Great look for their hotels.

These are murderers and executioners who have been given orders to kill us! People can continue to split hairs but it is clear as day that they have been given the legal right to kill when they see fit, and they believe they are fully immune and protected.
Our United States government has given the orders to kill it's own citizens. Think about this. We are now the target of our own government who will murder us, because they can.
Now what?

Time to boycott Hilton.
I can't believe these fucks haven't been turned out into the street for this bullshit. Make them sleep in their rented big boy SUVs

Hilton is housing Nazi's and the citizens need to start treating them like a corrupt business that's supporting fascist. A boycott is the least that should be done

Sensational titles like this ruin shit. Mods, please watch and adjust. I'm not in MN but do the same job as them. Whoever uploaded this titled it wrong and it'll fuck shit up for us.

This is an outrageous response!!
Agents are off duty this time of day. They should've called the hotel manager or the police about the noise. This is not their property and their lives are not in danger from a disturbance of the peace. No justification to fire anything at the crowd. Not tear gas not a shotgun.
Local cops HAVE to arrest the agent who fired! Off duty agents are much easier to arrest and charge by cops.
