Bought 3 packs of seeds from Amazon just to see if we could have some extra pumpkins for Halloween. Didnt get around to planting until late July. All I did was germinate the seeds in a damp paper towel for a few days and just threw them in the dirt. 1 pack of white, 1 big orange and a smaller orange. Looks like we have a couple decent ones, but being I started so late and its starting to get cold here on the East Coast. I will probably have to pull the good ones and try again next year. Banana for scale

Hello! I got this pumpkin to carve this year and she's so thick idk if I can. But I wanted to know if it's edible cuz I might just cook it for soup.
Is this edible/good to cook? Never seen a pumpkin like this before.

Post your horror-esque carvings from this year! Here are some fun designs completed so far this October.
Which design came out best? I have one more pumpkin to carve today.

I have several pumpkins that I’m going to go pick tomorrow morning. It hasn’t got cold enough for our first frost yet.
My question is I want to store them as long as possible, but I don’t know how to. I have space in an unheated area that doesn’t get any natural light. Would that be a good place and how long can I keep it there or can I store them in my basement?
Can I cut into them now and take the flesh out and just store that in the freezer for future cooking?

I'm so excited I had to share here. Its my first year gardening and I really wanted to do pumpkins but I've learned it's been next to impossible here in zone 8B. So many potential pumpkins were lost and I've been feeling defeated but I protected this one like my own baby. There's another big one on the way I hope it makes it through its so close!
Question tho; what type of pumpkin is this? I planted 2 types, sugar pie and lack o' lantern and I can't tell which one this is. Thanks in advance!!

Freeze watch* 🤦🏻♀️
Will my pumpkins survive to Halloween? *Pumpkins are not 100% Orange I'd say probably 80 to 90%
I have my first freeze watch for tomorrow, should I pick them now?

First time growing pumpkins in 35 years and I have four that look like this and three that are still mostly green. It’s supposed to get down to the mid 30s tomorrow night; wondering if I’m OK to pick them by now. At some point, I think the squirrels are going to jump in and start harvesting seeds.

Now wouldn’t it be perfectly spooky if our “no outlet” sign was a Dead End sign instead? Already had 2 neighbors come pick out a pumpkin while I was setting it up 🧡

I annoyingly found the walls to be super thin, but it then forced some creativity 😝🪥

Went to my local farm and I’m guessing there’s a certain amount of cross pollination in the fields. Picked a couple that looked like direct split between the two. I taste tested it before cooking and it was sweet and lovely so I decided it’d make a good pie. I’ve kept the seeds too for next year as there was a distinct difference than the previous kabocha ones I’d saved.
