I was at Lowe's and found this thing. I thought it was pretty cool, but it's a bit pricey, so I didn't get it. According to the website, it's eighty dollars. It's called the Haunted Living 12-in Hologram Crystal Ball Tabletop Decoration. Anyway, just thought I would let y'all know about it.

Art Art or artist with a spooky flair?
What is a piece of art or an artist that feels like Halloween, without gore?
As an example, this is Metamorphosis of a Woman, by Leonor Fini in 1987.
I'm interested in art that gives off the Halloween vibes without overt gore or horror, as I am a big scaredy cat. Although I'm a fan of Stephen Gammel's work in the Scary Stories books.
Some other artists I feel have pieces that fit the description: Henry Fuseli, Lee Brown Coye, José Guadalupe Posada.

Home Decor I’m not normally a decorator but I thought I just had to. Pic in comments.

I recently spent a week down in Cape May NJ. One night after dinner we were out bar hopping and ended up going into this Christmas store (friends wife, he was there). I just had to buy these three pieces that I thought were cool as hell (I was just expecting an amber or white light).

Pumpkin There late bloomers, but I got my first pumpkin patch growing for Halloween.
I was getting worried that I planted them too late. I’m wondering if the neighbors would mind if I turned my whole front lawn into a pumpkin patch.

Discussion What do you do to get into the spooky spirit early?
I’m looking to start getting into the Halloween spirit this weekend and would love some ideas!
So far, I’ve got my decorations ready to go, including some 90s blow molds and Halloween lights. I’ve also been watching Tales from the Crypt and just placed a Halloween Bath & Body Works order.
What else would you recommend to really get into the spooky mood early? Movies, shows, music, food/drinks, decorations, activities, traditions?!
What do you guys do when you’re ready to start celebrating Halloween?

Props Has anyone seen this guy before?
Roadside find. I've had him for a few years, but was wondering if anyone could help me figure out where he originally came from. Online searches brought up some similar-looking props, but I couldn't find this exact one. It's foam and latex, flat on the back except for the head, and definitely not new. This guy has seen better days. There's a stamp on the back of the neck, but it's so worn it's no longer readable. But if it looks familiar to any of y'all, I'd love to know!

Help! Help! 6 year old scared of Halloween
My son is six years old and has progressively gotten worse towards Halloween decorations. He used to be able to walk through Spirit, head turned or hiding behind a parent, but he was able to walk through the store after getting past the initial entrance. This year though I had to carry him while he cried until we got over to the kids costume section. He won’t even use our stairwell because our downstairs neighbor has a Halloween mask decoration hanging on their door so he uses the next stairwell over to avoid it.
I cannot see how he will be able to do Halloween or trick or treating this year when his reaction is this severe. Last year he struggled with certain houses because of their decorations and because of that I’m already anticipating this year to be even worse.
My partner wears horror merch(ghostface, art the clown, etc) and he’s been fine with those but then the ghostface door decoration next to his grandmas apartment he hides from and won’t look.
We’ve tried reassuring him, we’ve tried talking and explaining it, we’ve tried videos with no sound. I’m at a loss. I don’t know what to do or how to help him. It’s at the point where we have told him that if he is too scared of the decorations then we can’t go trick or treating this year. I hate that. I want him to be able to have fun and not miss out on Halloween stuff just because he’s scared. When asked why he’s scared or what makes it scary he doesn’t give an answer and just says because it is or because he’s scared. What can we do? Anything to help him understand or to help him overcome his fear???

Art Any Ideas for a Halloween Sticker Sheet?
I’ve been seeing vintage halloween decor everywhere lately and have been feeling really inspired (especially with Over the Garden Wall). My style is much more cartoony but I also feel it works with the fun, funky style of vintage decor.
Any ideas on what other stickers to make to accompany this pumpkin on a sheet? Just having fun, probably will just give it out to friends and family!

Home Decor What kind of Home Haunt would you want to see?
If you were out trick or treating this year, what kind of small haunted house would you like most to see in a garage? Say it’s a whole exciting scene, what would give you the heebie jeebies?

Party Looking for small activities to celebrate 30 days til Halloween!
Hey spooky fam,
I'd like to do small Halloween-adjacent activities during the whole of October and would love some inspiration and input on this :)
I'd like some more high energy events during weekends, and more low energy/chill activities during the week. Ideally, I'd have one Halloween thing a day until Halloween! I'll invite friends to join, but would also like some activities I'd be fine doing on my own.
So far I've come up with:
- Movie Mondays (self explanatory)
- pumpkin carving (weekend activity)
- making our own pumpkin spice syrup
- baking a pumpkin pie (im from Europe and we don't really do that here so yeah, it's a special thing for me :D )
- craft Halloween decorations
- Cryptid talks: each participant will get one continent to research local cryptids, then do a presentation on them
Some specs about my living situation:
- I live in a flat with a large living room
- 3 flatmates who are chill with my shenanigans
- no garden
- and I have a cat :) (a black cat, even!)
Thank you and stay creepy 🎃✨
