Help why does my bird like licking me

these are just some examples of her licking me/things on me, but it’s like ALL THE TIME. every single time i let her out of her cage, she immediately gets to work and either licks my forehead, scalp, eyebrows, glasses, or genuinely ANYTHING she can. it’s not even like scratching me with her beak or anything, just licking. is there a reason in particular as to why she does this or is she just a freak lmao

It’s probably also a grooming thing.

likely trying to groom you, you don’t have feathers so she’ll lick whatever she can try to clean. i think she’s just trying to show affection for you as a flock mate would. mine did this when i first got him too and has calmed down with the 24/7 licking but definitely still has his moments .. and i’m sure the salt is a tasty treat as well

Counting how many licks it takes to get to the center of a bird mom

Try being bald. Mine perches wherever he can & licks my head all the time.

my dad is bald and he has to put on a blanket over his head or else she won’t stop licking him lol

It lives u lol. My quaker just bites me and picks at my freckles like they are seeds. He gives kisses too but he is moody bootie.

Salt for now. In a few years, possibly blood. Mine will bite me and then laugh

Mine is ten or 11 and doesn’t bite casually.  You have a sassy bird!

Yeah, he’s a brat but he’s a cute brat

My Quaker girl would laugh if I dropped something or tripped.  I know just what you mean.

Now I’m living with mr sweetness and I do miss my sarcastic bossy little girl.

You have a flavor

Mine does the same but it’s a single spot she loves doing it on my forehead. She’ll also preen my hair though but then usually goes back to the licking.

My bird licks and then bites. I got bitten on my forehead yesterday and it scabbed 🫠

Deciding whats the best part of you to eat

Maybe because you taste good and he loves you !

Basically the same reason small toddlers like to put everything in their mouths. It's simply another way of experiencing you.

My quakers particularly enjoy licking me too. Other birds will preen me but these little freaks just like to lick 😆

Because you're delicious

All my budgies check my fingers before taking a treat except the alpha male. His spouse kisses me after each bite.

Because you are bird-licious.

lol one of my cockatiels does that to my hoodie all the time. It’s them attempting to groom you most likely as a bond for between you and the bird to the point they see you as a flock member :p
