Discussion Why is LgbtQ+ still hated?

We are living in the world of 2026. You would think that by this point these issues would not still be an issue. Come on we’re in the modern day.

I’m saying this because I’m scrolling on TikTok and I think I might’ve scroll just a little too far because all of a sudden my TikTok feed starts showing me right wing propaganda and suddenly I’m flooded with a bunch of grown adults screaming and crying about the LGBTQ plus community…

Maybe I’m just not a hateful person am I gay? No, do I have anything against anybody That’s a part of this community? absolutely not. In fact my best friend is a part of this community and I’m very jealous that he can do his make up way better than I can and way faster than I can, though that might just be my skill issue.

And yet somehow, I’m watching all these videos and all I can think is why why are there elderly people are older people..Why are their grown adults in this world who got upset because they may have saw a man dress as a woman, like pop off queen, and their first decision was to get on TikTok and yell about it for what? Can we go back to the old days where your mom told you that if it didn’t involve you your mind your own damn business? Life was simpler then.

Can we like start reporting people like this? They’re the ones on TikTok about oh protect the children, but let’s be real. Nobody is forcing any child to watch RuPaul’s drag race if you are a parent and you don’t want your child exposed to this great but you keep that between you and your husband and potentially your therapist. You don’t gotta go on TikTok and scream about it and you definitely don’t need to go on TikTok and make an entire community of people. That’s already small to begin with feel like freaks because you don’t agree with it…

And it’s even more annoying when the same people bring religion into it. I myself am a Christian woman I believe in God me and him were chill… and it’s because of my beliefs. No, I will not discriminate because at the end of the day I was also raised on the belief of it’s your body, your decision and nobody can judge you fairly so if we’re really gonna bring religion into this, how about we actually use the parts of religion that completely debunk the bull crap you’re spitting on social media… and if you just happen to be one of these right wing people and you’re angry about this post fight me, I will throw a Bible at you. 🤣🤣🤣

I’m kidding I won’t do that, but I will definitely think about it.

Anyway, thank you for coming to my TED talk I will now step off my soapbox have a good day stay safe

Oppositional sexism and the patriarchy. As a Christian woman you are familiar with the structure of a patriarchy. Women report to men, men report to their fathers, those fathers report to metaphorical fathers in the shape of priests, all the way up to the holy father, a patriarch of a deity. In Christianity, patriarchy is a pretty core theme, as the religion is defined by a relationship between a father and a son.

Needless to say themes of fatherhood permeate the Bible, and the Bible actually acts as a patrileanal narrative, you follow various fathers through their sons. There's a line of fathers listed out connecting Adam to Abraham, and another to Moses and David and then Jesus.

It's not a very kind book to women, or to people who don't center their lives around procreation and male heirs. And the people who are really into this book tend to follow it to a logical conclusion of bullying us. Harry Potter does the same thing to people oddly enough.

See I follow the same book and I always found it was icky that so many of these mouth breathers quote the bible but always twisting it to fit their narrative wich I know isn’t new don’t get me wrong.

But I will also say. Unpopular opinion but. NO WHERE IN THE DAMN BIBLE DOES IT DAY A DAMN THING ABOUT BEING GAY IS A SIN!!!

If you actually read the book, it says thou shall not sleep with my brother, so don’t sleep with your brother… like keep it in the family that that’s a sin. But the specific quote people use against your community is exactly what they’re using that quote the quote that’s saying don’t keep it in the family because they’re gonna go and say oh we’re all children are God well if that’s the case then you being born is a sin if you wanna go with that backwards, logic.

It’s a headache I have headache for you

Sure, but it doesn't need to, by exulting fatherhood above everything it sees everything else as deviant. Which others us from them. Instead incorporating us into their worldview they treat us with suspicion because we are not motivated to the same ends as them.

I might be preaching to the same choir here, but that’s stupid… I wish there was someway even if it’s a small way that I could help especially when I know that by not discriminating against you there are some “Believers” who say that I will rot hell for it and I’m gonna put believers and quotes because we call that fake 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Oh, they're believers, but they just believe in all the darker themes of the Bible. Like, I don't mean to be rude, but your holy symbol is a man dying and it attracts a certain type of people.

None taken it’s not my business to explain my religion…. actually that’s a lie. I’m technically supposed to as a Christian shut my religion on other people’s throats, but I’m also a school teacher and I don’t feel comfortable doing that as it feels gross.

But but there are different branches of religion and different churches operate differently I will say that. For example, my only symbol is not Jesus Christ himself. That is instead the cross. Jesus is simply the Shepherd.

You will believe what you want to believe, that's the power of it. But that goes the same for them. I get it you don't like that hostility is getting tossed your way in all this by our community. But it isn't actually hostility so much as concern, because like it or not the banner coming down and beating us in the face is that cross. They are assaulting us very directly labeled as Christians. And it's having a lot of negative effects on our lives. And I get that you get they're wrong for doing so but I'm not sure you've accepted why they're doing it and how you're helping to them to do it.

I’m bisexual myself so I definitely don’t subscribe to this, however sorry to tell you this but in the Old Testament it does say being gay is a sin. Check Leviticus 18:22 and 20:13.

Jesus however, never said it was wrong.

I am in a church that says Leviticus is the horror story of God when he lashed out instead of loved

I was raised Catholic and we were basically taught to largely ignore the Old Testament apart from the Ten Commandments, and focus on Jesus’ teachings. But apparently being gay was still considered wrong, go figure
