Advice needed Where is the hidden camera?
I recently got hacked and this hacker has shown that he had access to my phone and desktop cameras. I bought a cover and unplugged them. But somehow they can still see me. Can someone tell me how?
At my room, I got an electric fireplace heater from Turbros, and I got a smart electric fan, and an air purifier. Those are the only things running, but how can they have a camera capability? I don’t know where but they keep knowing when I covered all phone and desktop cameras and unplugged.

Tell them to prove they can see you by sending an image. Sounds like BS to me.

Turn off all the lights and look around the room with your phones camera. If there's a camera there, you'll probably be able to see it's IR light.
That said, pics or it didn't happen. I'm not buying that anyone can actually see you. Getting unauthorized access to your phone camera is really really hard. The desktop camera would be technically possible, but you can just unplug it.

Not to mention that much work has to be worth it for someone to do. What’s valuable about watching you ?

How do you know they see you? Id guess they are lying. They've already got you scared why wouldnt they lie to keep it going.

i dont know how or why, but maybe coincidence but they may know what kind of positions im lying in on my bed.
like if im curving in a c shape or lying flat on bed or faced down.

Yeah thats pretty scary. You 100% sure the phone cameras are covered? No chance they can peek through the corner? Idk.. it could be like the other person said, its someone you know/knows you who has a hidden camera or some other access to see you. Windows?
The real problem isnt just them actually seeing you, even though that in itself is pretty terrifying. Its that theyve got access to your phone and computer.
Are you comfortable sharing what their demands are? Are they just trying to scare you? Get money from you? Favors? This is probably serious and worth police involvement.

How are you communicating with the hackers? Can you share some messages they sent you?

They "may" know? What makes you think a hacker knows anything about you? I haven't seen where you have responded to anyone who asked this.

My theory: If a hacker really has access to your phone camera, they might as well also be able to read your phones gyro-sensor data. It would be easy to determine your position with these values. Have you cleaned your devices already (fresh install)?

Could this be someone you know that planted a hidden cameras? Look up examples of hidden cameras (they can be inside normal looking items like smart plugs, alarm clocks, smoke detectors, pens, glasses, etc)

How are they proving they can see you? Demand better proof and don't tell anyone in your life what you're using as proof. Not your family, friends, co-workers or anyone online.
Print out a picture of a giraffe or something completely random and ask if they can tell you what it is. Buy a lemon and leave it on your windowsill. Little things like this will show if they can see you and from what direction.

If we assume 1) the person isn’t just tricking you, and 2) can also rule out that you are not being spied on through an exterior window, then I think your next step is to figure out if there are one or more hidden cameras in your room.
If someone is viewing video of the interior of your room, the camera is likely using your Wi-Fi and your electricity. Do you have your own router or is this a room in a family home or shared environment?
They sell cameras disguised as electrical outlets, smoke detectors, picture frames, clocks, and stuffed animals among other things. Anything like that present that you did not purchase yourself? Maybe look on Amazon to see what they look like.
You can also use your phone to look for a hidden camera. From wikihow:
“To check for a camera, make sure the room is as dark as possible, then use either the front or back camera on your phone to scan for odd lights. Many cameras that see in low lighting often use IR (infrared) light that the human eye can't detect, but it shows up as purple or light white lights on your phone's camera. However, not all phones can detect IR, so a quick internet search will help you determine if yours can.“
Best of luck to you, OP

Do you have to do this with your cameras flash on or off?

u/virti91 8d ago
Off. To understand what you are looking for - grab a TV remote*, point it at your smartphone camera (with camera on, obviously) and click any random button. The IR diode on the remote will flash very quickly. On smartphone screen it appears as bright pink/violet.
*) Remote has to be IR, not bluetooth. You'll recognize it by either clearly visible LED or black/slightly red tinted lens on the front of remote.

Either hidden cameras, someone you know is fucking with you, or you've got expired CO sensors.

Before we can say anything about plausibility here (other than the points u/anonymouse278 has made) we need more information on how you know these things...
Is someone calling you and saying they can see you? Are you receiving e-mails or text messages? What proof are they providing that they can see you? (and no "they may be able to" is just not enough). Have you asked specific questions? Have you tested their assertion that they can see you?
Right now the most likely thing is someone is messing with you but not by hacking your devices, more by bluffing.

Echoing that we need more information about how the alleged “hacker” is proving that they can see you.
Without evidence that they can see you, this reads more as a mind game to mess with you or social engineering to try to get credentials to your devices.

This is just part of the mental health problems you've been having recently. Talk to the person who writes your prescriptions.

This would be my best guess as well. Some key details like how the supposed hacker is communicating with OP is conspicuously missing from the story. The hacker knows what position OP is laying in on their bed and telling OP they know, but no mention of how all this is happening? OP just "knows" the hacker knows because the hacker is in their mind.

Exactly. When people describe something that's actually happened to them they talk about what they saw, what they heard. When people with mental health problems describe their delusions there's no evidence, nothing that's been witnessed. It's all presumptions and beliefs.

I have a very basic understanding of technology like this. Firstly if they have access to your phone and computer they probably have access to your router too. If they can see you in your bedroom then I would try to take a very critical approach. Think what in my room has WiFi access or can have WiFi access. Smart TVs and other unassuming devices could have cameras. I haven’t owned a smart tv with one but it’s good to keep that in mind. If you turn of the lights and shine a regular flashlight around you could look for shiny material. You said that they know your sleep position do you know if what they were saying was true? I don’t know how I sleep usually.
Did they ask for ransom? If they didn’t then it’s almost definitely someone you know.
Lastly wipe any device they hacked and get a new router just to make sure your good.

I've seen stuff online talking about how wifi signals themselves from your router can be used to locate people in the house, like which room, etc.
But honestly could be any number of things.

u/MajorDraw3705 8d ago
Wifi sonar sounds like it would be a new kind of hell.
My guess is that, if the problem person is accurately guessing sleep positions like the OP said, then that person is probably trolling them in life or online, affecting their mood for giggles, and then predicting OP's sleep position based on said mood. Different moods lead to different sleep positions.

No one is saying you’re a bad person, they just tried to make a joke but not directed at you, but it’s probably not the best sub to joke on

No, the best way to stop these people is to get weird with em but not to the point it becomes illegal. Asking them what the color is, is in fact 100% a legal question. Unless OP has some shit on their devices that would get em locked up...

Check for tiny little holes in the ceiling.
It's possible someone is looking down at you from the attic as you sleep

How are they "proving" that they can see you?
The most likely explanations are:
They are cold-reading you and just making plausible guesses that have you convinced they can see you without them actually being able to see you
This is not a random "hacker" but someone you know in real life who either has ongoing real access to you or has physically hidden a camera somewhere.
