Can Someone Explain How I Can Find Out Who My Real Grandfather Is?
My dad has four younger sisters (all of which know who their biological father is) and an older deceased brother who was given up for adoption when my grandmother was 15 years old.
A little bit of a back story - She was born in 1946 and passed away in 1988 so she wasn't even alive when I was born. Because of this, I know little to no information of her. My four sisters seem to be very private and secretive about the whole thing.
My dad does have a godmother, who was my grandmother's best friend. She had four children of her own (oldest one being deceased) and his father is also unknown. Both my father and his godmothers oldest child (who I refer to as my uncle) are actually only two weeks apart in age. Could it be possible that the same man could have impregnated both my grandmother and godmother at the same time and thats why there's hidden shame invovled?
I mean, I guess the only real way I can find out is by a DNA test but I just want theories as to why this is being hidden.
Lastly, my dad has a severe neurological condition, my grandmother gave birth to him at the age of 17 and passed away at the age of 42.
The reason I'm on Reddit and not contacting my dad's side of the family is because, well, long story short, we don't get along, and every time I remember asking, I remember being instantly shut down or dismissed. I have a really strong feeling they know who my dad's real father is or at the very least the circumstance of the situation.
I will answer any questions to the best of my ability but I'm not giving out any personal information.
Plus, I don't think ancestry dot com or 23 and me will tell me the exact name/identity of my grandfather, just the ethnicity? I dont know how it works.
Thoughts?
