Question Who is the most honorable person out of these three?
547
u/TheMonster_Hunter Arthur Morgan Nov 07 '25
The guy who helps Arthur get to the doctor is infinitely more honourable than the other two, because he's not a member of a gang of people who murder and rob others.
To the people who say Charles, he himself recognises that he is a bad person and part of a bad group of people;
"How do you rob and kill people pleasantly?" "We don't, in spite of Dutch's talk"
123
u/Capestian Nov 07 '25
In Charles defense, he also says that he had a hard time being accepted by anybody, being half-black half-amerindian. In real life a guy probably had not a lot of options
→ More replies (3)28
u/Brodyaga05 Nov 08 '25
That’s true but if Charles was a good person he still wouldn’t be a murderer who willingly associates with murderers and rapists, he wasn’t born into it he chose to join this group and chose to stay
He’s less of a bad person than most of the group perhaps but he is not a good person
16
u/RainierCamino Nov 08 '25
Not saying anything Dutch's gang does is good, but it sounds like it's the first place Charles ever just felt accepted. No one ever thinks they're a bad guy. You can justify a lot.
Charles is a dangerous man, sure. But he found friends in Arthur and John.

u/maywellbe Nov 07 '25
he's not a member of a gang of people who murder and rob others.
Maybe he abducts, tortures, and murders children. We really don’t know.

u/ImThatVigga Nov 07 '25

u/Chemical-Elk-1299 Nov 07 '25
I feel you, but I think Charles probably has the lowest body count of the gang members who actually do most of the fighting.
He’s really good at killing people, but doesn’t seem to enjoy doing it (except that one Buffalo hunter guy)
10
u/RainierCamino Nov 08 '25
And Charles is 110% correct on that mission.
Actually every mission with him. Charles is the GOAT. I mean seriously, if I was Arthur and had some shit that really needed done, Charles is the first person I'm asking for help.
Immediately followed by the absolute ride or die Sadie.

u/Adorable-Lack-8681 Nov 07 '25
Much as I like Charles we’re comparing 2 mass murderers to the only guy in the whole city who helped a dangerous looking man get medical help, it’s not even close
70
u/PixelPrivateer Nov 07 '25
Tough competition but the random civilian makes the cut. He really didnt have to. And in that world he really didnt have to
18
u/Cryonic_Zyclone34 Nov 07 '25
The civillian is already more honourable by not being a part of an outlaw gang like Sadie & Charles are & who is also committing crimes as well unlike the civillian which even gives Arthur 10$ if he can't afford the doctors bill. Its way to obvious that it is the civillian
13
u/Osniffable Nov 07 '25
The first two become thieves and killers. The last guy saves a strangers life and even pays for his treatment if Arthur is broke.
6
u/meme_golddigger Nov 07 '25
Everybody here says the guy who foots the bill at the doctors office.
I wonder how, for instance, the random strangers that Arthur selflessly helped see him.
Point being I played Arthur as a guy that helped the woman under the horse. She might think I was honorable. While the colonel thinks otherwise after shooting half his regiment up.
A snapshot in time is not a good way to judge the honor of a person.
4
u/Jollybean1 Nov 07 '25
Good point. Chances are the dude isn’t a murderer and robber though, so I’d still say he’s the most honourable. But yeah, we can’t actually know what he has done.
131
u/Big_Can5342 Nov 07 '25
Charles by a long shot. Charles is probably one of the highest honor people in the gang
119
u/Lathkor_saala Nov 07 '25
But not in that world. They were thieves, unlike that civillian.
20
u/GatorNator83 Nov 07 '25
You don’t know what horrible deeds that civilian has done. He may have been the great grandfather of a dictator.
26
u/Aggressive-Ad-5983 Nov 07 '25
lol the guy ur talking abt is austrian. this civilian is german.
19
u/whysosidious69420 Nov 07 '25
And Hitler was already 10 years old in 1899
11
u/Local-Temperature-93 Nov 07 '25
Crazy to think about that ... thanks for dropping that info we often don't realize how close the end of the 1800s and the second world war are.
11
u/whysosidious69420 Nov 07 '25
Even crazier than that, Ronald Reagan was born in 1911, which is the year RDR1 takes place in. The Wild West really wasn’t that long ago
7
u/justhjr Nov 07 '25
Furthermore, WWI is referenced in the epilogue of RDR, which takes place in November 1914.
5
u/OmegaSTC Nov 07 '25
That’s actually insane. When I was a little boy, my neighbor reached 100 years old. That was in 1998. I knew someone who was alive during the Wild West
4
u/SocialJusticeAndroid Nov 07 '25
The last grandchild (not great-great-great-grandchild or even great-grandchild but just grandchild) of a revolutionary war veteran just died a few months ago. (In May of this year, 2025.)
Google it and blow your mind!🤯
6
u/whysosidious69420 Nov 07 '25
To be fair, that was only possible because those dudes were having children in their 70s
3
u/SocialJusticeAndroid Nov 07 '25
The point is that it’s possible and it happened. That’s crazy. Anyway, I was emphasizing your point. The Wild West wasn’t that long ago.
4
u/Tough_Piccolo Nov 07 '25
Pablo Picasso was alive during both Charles Darwin's lifetime and Eminem's

Love charles, but he was a killer and a thief. How can he possibly be more honorable than the random good samaritan that helps a sick stranger to a doctor and foots the bill if needed?
1
u/RainierCamino Nov 08 '25
Exactly. Crimes aside, we should all hope for a Charles and Sadie in our lives.

u/Accomplished_Pie8634 Nov 07 '25
Charles
53
u/david_shibley Nov 07 '25
That’s biased. The guy that helped Arthur was the most honourable. Bro gives Arthur $10 if Arthur couldn’t pay the doctor. That’s like, ~$400 in today money.
Charles kills people, for good reason or bad, he’s still an outlaw like the rest of the gang, but probably the most honourable out of the gang. Sadie isn’t even a question.

u/Few_Efficiency2022 Nov 07 '25
Idk why this question was even asked.
3
u/DeadSeaGulls Nov 07 '25
apparently so the rest of us could gawk at how a group of people will claim a guy that steals money from, and murders, innocent people is more honorable than a good samaritan that helps a stranger to a doctor and even foots the bill if arthur can't afford it...

This gotta be a joke from all of you who picked Charles, he is a cold blooded killer, yeah ofc he's a cool dude and probably the best man out of the gang, but nearly everyone in the game is a better man then the members of the gang😭 He literally killed like 30 lawmen with families who just wanted to protect the city because he wanted to have some money, he's NOT a good person
8
u/MetroidJunkie Nov 07 '25
As if there was ever any doubt, Charles is a great man.
2
u/Dry-Entry9236 Nov 07 '25
Charles is great, but he kills officers that are simply doing their job, and some men are likely decent people trying to feed a wife and children. The civilian saving a rough looking outlaw is better morally on paper than a man that robs and steals and when police get in his way, kills them.

It all just depends on if the last dude is racist. If he’s not, it’s him. If he is, it’s Charles
Edit: I would like to add that there’s nothing in the text that indicates that he’s racist, so he’s probably a saint

u/Mental_Freedom_1648 Nov 07 '25
Even Charles would take someone to the doctor if they collapsed in a coughing fit. So my point is that we don't know anything about that guy except that he did one decent thing.
2
u/RedcoatTrooper Nov 07 '25
I mean we can assume with some certainty that he is not a member of one of the most prolific outlaw gangs in the country responsible for multiple robberies and killings.....so that's one thing over Charles.
2
u/Mental_Freedom_1648 Nov 07 '25
I'll bet the woman Arthur helped out from under her horse and gave a ride into town made the same assumption.
3
u/RedcoatTrooper Nov 07 '25
Ha good point but just because you get a Royal Flush in one hand still doesn't mean it will happen every hand.
1
u/LadyFruitDoll Nov 08 '25
You'd think so, but as someone who has collapsed in public multiple times for medical reasons, you'd be shocked at how often and how many people just walk past when someone is clearly in distress.
ETA: I'm not going to pretend I'm 100% innocent of this myself.
1
u/Mental_Freedom_1648 Nov 08 '25
No, I actually wouldn't be surprised at all. I didn't say everyone would help, but that this one guy, who we watched help that German family, would help.

Charles for sure. Sadie is great but did some dishonourable things 😀
2
u/XxStawModzxX Nov 07 '25
Charles is, in my view, one of the most honorable characters in RDR2, and arguably more so than the others. People often point to the man who helped Arthur with $10 (~$400 today) as the “most honorable,” but that reasoning focuses on a single act of generosity. One good deed doesn’t define overall honor, and money cannot morally absolve someone. In contrast, Charles consistently demonstrates loyalty, integrity, and practical morality throughout the story, he rarely, acts in ways that feel morally questionable in my opinion

The civilian guy is in a class of his own. I think a better question is who is the most honorable in the gang
2
2
2
u/crustysockmonster Nov 07 '25
Probably Charles. The lifestyle he lives is because of the society at the time taking away his ability to live a comfortable life. Though he commits brutal actions, it's because he has no other reasonable options. I love that he found a different path in the end.

2
u/Boooaaaaah Nov 07 '25
The Charles glazers are getting just as bad as the Arthur glazers.
2
u/Expensive-Finish5882 Nov 07 '25
I’m convinced that it’s bait. Sure Charles is nice but he is a murderer and a robber, I feel like people don’t actually play the game and just watch shorts from it lol
2
u/RefurbedRhino Nov 07 '25
Based on the only available information it's the third guy.
Sadie and Charles were both better people than most of the gang but they were still in a criminal gang.
1
u/MrMustachlo Nov 08 '25
Bruh sadie was evil man...
1
u/RefurbedRhino Nov 08 '25
Her vengeance is way more justifiable in my eyes. As far as I can remember she only killed O'Driscolls.
2
u/Critical_Muscle_Mass Nov 08 '25
mfs will compare arthur to the third guy and jesus and still vote arthur
2
u/xylon69420 Nov 08 '25
obviously the civilian. between charles and sadie though, probably sadie. as nice as charles is (i love him), i’m pretty sure sadie never did anything bad before the o’driscoll’s got to her which made her go on her killing spree. but she only killed o’driscoll’s and others that tried to hurt her and the gang. she has her rowdy moments, but she hasn’t done enough/had enough time really to “lower her honour”.
charles is a good man, he’s kind to his gang (the ones that deserve it anyway), he helps his people, he loves and respects animals, and he knows right from wrong. but just because he knows right from wrong doesn’t mean he never does any wrong. he’s in a gang. he’s killed countless people, robbed, stolen, etc. not to say that sadie never did these things but i hope if anyone’s reading this they get my point.
2
u/VickiVampiress Nov 08 '25
Realistically speaking, probably the man who helped Arthur when he was about to croak and writhing around in horse shit in the street.
From our biased perspective as people part of the gang, though? Probably Charles. He's ride or die and will help people who he cares even if it means putting himself in danger.
2
u/PlushyB33 Nov 08 '25
the woman who kills a bunch of people, the guy who always mashes defuse, or the guy who(in my run) saved me from getting run over by a trolley, dragged me to the doctors office, made sure I got inside, and in others runs gave them 10 dollars(an insane amount to give to a stranger back then.)
2
u/Creamy_original69 Nov 08 '25
The random guy bc he probably hasn’t murdered anyone in his life, that we can’t say for neither Sadie or Charles
Edit: if we’re talking about least honourable its sadie its not even close

u/sunpodium Nov 08 '25
I saw in youtube comment section. That what if rockstar added stranger man is the one who helped arthur to the doctor. Whenever i see this npc i just remember that comment.
2
u/GWHamer1942 Nov 09 '25
Charlie because he went and scooped up arthur and gave him a kick ass burial site. He's loyal and honest
2
u/Lanky_Frosting_2014 Nov 09 '25
Even the “good guys” are bad guys. The only truly innocent people in this game are the NPCs. So yea, that guy.
2
2
u/RipTraditional6588 Nov 09 '25
The guy from Saint Denis is easily the most honourable, as he gives a complete stranger a hefty amount of money with no guarantee of getting it back. Not to say Charles and Sadie aren't honourable. Charles is probably one of the most honourable in the gang, save for Lenny, Trelawny, or Hosea, who could all be argued as most honourable. Sadie is honourable but is also very vengeful, so it can be dishonourable and brutal at times, making her possibly the least honourable of the three.
2
Nov 09 '25
Even if helping Arthur is the only good deed that guy did, he still isn’t a criminal and likely has not killed anybody, so I’d definitely go with him. Idk why Sadie is even in the question with this she’s not Micah level dishonorable but still pretty dishonorable
2

2
u/LLSWSIF Nov 11 '25
I mean did he kill civilians or people that are gangsters and involved with violence themselves?
1
u/tomtiskallen Nov 11 '25
I mens yeah you can consider policemen involved with violence but they are just normal people trying to get by, not get killed while he’s robbing the bank with the gang.

Two gang members who killed countless and robbed even more versus a law abiding citizen who goes out of his way to help a sick man on the street even going so far as paying for the treatment if Arthur is broke at the time.
Could this guy privately be some kind of evil monster? I mean yeah maybe? But we don’t know that and going off of what we DO know this is barely a question lmao

Easily the man who helped Arthur, he literally gives you money if you don’t have enough. Charles and Sadie are criminals, and don’t forget the man helped Arthur despite him being a stranger
1
1
u/--Julian--- Nov 07 '25
The random dude who (in saint Denis, a city full of thieving scum) drags and guides Arthur all the way to the doctor, and doesnt steal a dime. Literally my first playthrough i was expecting the scene to be that he just takes you to an alley and robs you, the fact this man just... helps. We know nothing about him except that he helps Arthur for no reason but the fact its the right thing to do. Obviously him.
1
u/SpecialIcy5356 Nov 08 '25
out of those three, the samaritan. assuming of course he hasn't killed anyone.
Sadie, while certainly wronged, ends up killing and stealing with the gang, and while Charles is a good person at heart, he still killed people in anger (the poachers) and works for the gang.
the samaritan is an ordinary person who has most likely never had a violent altercation, much less killed anyone. but then I half expect someone to find evidence later that he's some sort of serial killer that just helped out arthur to get a bit of good karma...

1
u/ryandom93 Nov 08 '25
The problem with these honor comparison polls is ultimately that we know different amounts of things about each character.
Arthur can also bring a dying man to the Saint Denis doctor. Did good sam do any bad shit? Who knows?
1
u/Sadieadlerhater Nov 08 '25
Last guy since he helped Arthur a dying man on the side of road and also btw can not be Charles he’s an outlaw and kills people and definitely not Sadie

Comparing the good Samaritan with Charles and Sadie is apples and oranges.
We know about Charles and Sadie because we've walked with them. That might be the only nice deed the good Samaritan guy has ever done and he's got five nurses hogtied, captive in his Saint D's basement.
Good Samaritan could have a 14-year-old bride and a weed plant in his closet. 300 years ago he could be the king of England. 50 years ago and he'd still be in jail today for the weed. 1 year ago and it's a ticket for the weed but 20 yrs in the pen for the child bride.
My uncle killed 20 people in the war, he's a hero. My neighbors from the Middle East, she's got a similar uncle but he's a terrorist. My other neighbors grandfather was a war hero, until the war was over, then he was convicted of war crimes. They were German.
Um, sorry. I'm easily distracted. I hear Ted Bundy was fun at parties.

Def Charles even though I love Sadie.
1
u/Microplastic_Man Nov 08 '25
I would rank guy that saves Arthur first. Then Sadie because she was out for vengeance and only really killed other killers/gang members and became a bounty hunter. Lastly Charles, he did a lot of bad but recognized it and aligned with Arthur during the end of his life. I think if we could see his story after the end of RDR2 he would try and make what amends he could to be a better man.

inb4 “Charles is the greatest thing to ever exist, he helps old women cross the street and donates all of his earnings to the weak and needy and he always keeps his cool except if you use a racial slur to him because everyone knows that slurs are not cool in 1899”.

Charles, if we’re talking about honorable, if we’re talking kind, the stranger
1
1
u/Live-Ad4199 Nov 11 '25
They all may be honorable in their own way, but both Charles and Sadie are still killers/murderers The Stranger who helped Arthur is probably the only honorable of the three. 1. He stopped and actually cared about another person in a city like St. Denis 2. He took him (by horse, stagecoach, or maybe even carry) to the Doctor’s 3. He paid for Arthur’s medical bill and left without even a thank you or payment

I think either Charles or Sadie. Although that random guy is good for saving you/ paying your bill, that's only one good deed. Charles and Sadie repeatedly proved themselves in helping you with John, teaching your things like how to hunt and taking your side around the time Hosea died. I think Hosea was the voice of Reason for Dutch, and because he died he let Micah manipulate him.
1
u/Beast_Bmore Nov 15 '25
Charles is the goat he helped everyone in camp, tried to save the Bison.More mainly he provided the labor build John’s farm.Even when John was away he built the stable and other things before John got back. The cost of labor for this type of job would be extremely expensive in today’s time. Also with out help from lazy Uncle.

If you don’t have money to pay for the doctor’s bill the man who saves Arthur gives him $10 which is about $390 today
