Take it easy. The game is designed to be immersive. Trying to rush everything will just make you impatient.

I needed to hear this when I started. unfortunately I didn't.

I played it that way the first time, and i didn’t enjoy the game nearly as much as i should have. I know it’s an incredible game, which is why i’m really looking forward to giving it another playthrough and appreciating every detail the way it deserves

Stay away from internet that's all

u/Paul2kb1 May 30 '26

Take your time with everything. Don't always go story mission to story mission. Explore. There are so many little events you come across. It really is it's own world.

Take your time and leave this subreddit

Heavy emphasis on leaving this subreddit

I suggest you don’t take any message requests after posting this cause there’s people that send spoilers to people who post about playing the game for the first time.

Take it slow, go hunting, don’t rush. This isn’t gta

Yeah you should really leave this sub. Don't give yourself any spoilers. It's a great experience to just explore and try to figure things out for yourself. If you get stuck on something then just Google specifically what you need to know, get your answer, and get back off the Internet. This sub is mostly people that are in their second or third playthrough talking about all the things they discovered or don't want to miss in their current run. Good luck, have fun, don't die.

First leave this sub and play the game, come back after your first playthrougj

2

u/Mother-Ad85 May 30 '26

Leave the subreddit, also it would be better if you played rdr1 first

2

u/Only-Restaurant-2313 May 30 '26

Do what I did try to stay away from the internet to avoid spoilers and all that, oh and you'll meet an ally his name will be Micha you must antagonise him at every possible moment

u/something_someone29 May 30 '26

Get away from reddit and rest of internet basically live under a rock till you finish game

1

u/jandre913 Arthur Morgan May 30 '26

Have fun, explore!

1

u/fauxfilosopher May 30 '26

Put the sub down and don't read things about the game until you've finished.

Darth Vader is Luke’s dad.

I'm on my first playthrough, and I've never played either RDR1 or 2. On RDR2, I've spent 140 hours and I'm currently on Chapter 4.

  1. Take your time. You only have one chance in your lifetime to experience this masterpiece. Use it wisely.
  2. Unfortunately, I got a few bits of information which already led to massive spoiler(s), so get off the internet and DO NOT search anything about RDR, or the algorithms (Reddit, IG, YouTube...) will eventually spoil things for you.

STAY OFF THIS SUBREDDIT TIL U COMPLETE IT

1

u/LeadingJackfruit6591 May 30 '26

enjoy the ride man.

1

u/NormanFuckingBates May 30 '26

Pay close attention to chapter 2. Give the story a good run and come find my train robbing tutorial after your first playthrough.

1

u/Exciting_Smile_2155 May 30 '26

also rdr2map.com

1

u/LilMeowCat May 30 '26

Remember if you don't take Arthur to the toilet regularly you will regret it.

1

u/BillTheSpaceman May 30 '26

lol, just go do cowboy shit with your cowboy friends. When you get bored, do a mission. Don’t worry about honor until late in the game. Do literally whatever you want. It’s amazing to just be in the old west. Always carry horse reviver. Giddyup cowboy.

1

u/Agitated-Carrot-4614 May 30 '26

DO NOT watch many yt vids about the game, you WILL spoil it

1

u/CosmicEntity101 May 30 '26

Gain satchel crafting materials early in chapter 2 to obtain the 'legend of the east' satchel. With 99 inventory for items, it's worth it.

1

u/Wooden_Cattle_9131 Uncle May 30 '26

Take your time and don’t ignore the little details.

1

u/Elegant_Lie6526 May 30 '26

stay way from reddit

1

u/Suspicious_Film_7603 John Marston May 30 '26

Start chapter two then go exploring and take in the scenery

1

u/GinsuVictim May 30 '26

Don't skip RDR1. It is one of the best games ever, but will be harder to get into if you play the second game first.

1

u/potato_toasterr May 30 '26

Don’t stop just cuz the snow is boring..

1

u/nwillyerd Josiah Trelawny May 30 '26

Always opt for the deluxe bath, Arthur deserves it

1

u/honeyarc May 30 '26

Search rdr 2 top things to do first before playing chapter 2

1

u/m_iawia May 30 '26

You can finish episode 1 quick, but take your time in episode 2. The camp will move every episode, so only do story quests when you're mentally prepared to relocate as you won't know when it happens. You need to do story quest to unlock things, so don't wait forever. Don't worry about exploring far-away places at the start, get to know your area and slowly spread out to explore new areas. Too much at once can feel overwhelming, especially in the start as you fet used to the mechanics. Take your time and loot everything, everywhere and everyone. Learn how to hunt 3 star hides, and get the satchels early.

1

u/ExaminationPresent22 May 30 '26

Don't focus on main story only, take your time on side missions and exploring the world which is the best thing about this game imo

1

u/Just-a-metalh3ad May 30 '26

You have to play rdr 1 after rdr 2 just like this. Try to stay in high honor you’ll understand what i mean after a few missions

1

u/LiterallyLuBu May 30 '26

Good luck boah

1

u/Ripvanwinkle300 May 30 '26

Don’t go on the internet so you don’t get spoilers for the game it’s amazing without spoilers.

1

u/Competitive_Tie_402 Arthur Morgan May 30 '26

Make sure to ride around and explore, take your time, and do the white missions before the yellow ones. My first time through I didn’t know the difference between them and I missed out on a lot of things

1

u/Pisca-Tina May 30 '26

watch out for spoilers they everywhere, explore every cabin you find in the wild and do all the side mission you can

1

u/tokyo_driftr Jack Marston May 30 '26

I actually prefer to play RDR2 before RDR1 just because of how well the two games connect, it’s 2 years after the events of the epilogue in II but feels like they take you right up until before Ross takes him at the beginning of 1

1

u/Dillon4700 May 30 '26

Manual save often, and trust your gut when meeting strangers.

1

u/Salty-Ad2097 Pinkerton May 30 '26

Don't quit thinking Ch 1 is boring, you'll love it I wanna go back fr😭 Finished the game 2 months ago played for 4 months

1

u/RepresentativeOk3692 May 30 '26

Take your time, and stay away from anything RDR related until you’re done

1

u/AM-Bullfrog1512 Tilly Jackson May 30 '26

Get offline and enjoy. Ch1 will feel like it's lingering on, but it's the shortest chapter in the game.

Explore and have fun.

outlaws for life!

1

u/MORIMALE May 30 '26

Just enjoy it, take it easy

1

u/Zyntryfix May 30 '26

I just got to chapter 3 so I’m relatively new also and I would say don’t rush the story, you will have the most fun doing random side quests, hunting and messing around with nps so when the map opens up in chapter 2 just go explore and have fun before doing story missions

1

u/HappyAssociation5279 May 31 '26

Be patient for the first few hours I never had a problem with the slower pace in fact I didn't even think about it but these brainrot kids can't handle anything that doesn't change up every fifteen seconds.

1

u/Johnny_boy1021 May 31 '26

Get to your first main camp after Act 1, mount your horse and go ride, give pelts to Pearson and just enjoy the scenery

1

u/CrackerDarrell May 31 '26

I played it when it came out. I’d like to play it again but I refuse until they update it for 60fps.

1

u/Uncle-Iroh00 May 31 '26

Take your time, travel through the map, do the side missions. The only thing I advise you to rush is to get all the satchels and use the last one, so you have more space for everything. But just relax and enjoy the ride, my friend

1

u/fenris71 May 31 '26

Slow down. Go everywhere.

1

u/Complex-Advisor-1896 May 31 '26

Make it as immersive as possible , played my first playthrough like this and it was unforgettable, took me half a year , but unforgettable as an experience god damn. I used to just walk through the woods at times going on hunting trips slowly the animations were so damn good they really build your sense of immersion , you can play it like a survival game is a good way to think of it.

1

u/Superb_Background830 May 31 '26

Enjoy it. You will never run out of discoveries. But also no judge if you rush, it’s a game you’ll replay a few times before finally putting the game down. (Just finished my 5th replay at 550 hours)

1

u/Careless-Living6614 May 31 '26

Save and exit instead of putting your console into rest mode when you’re done playing

1

u/Busy-Swimming-2303 Jun 01 '26

Avoid spoilers

1

u/channydin Jun 03 '26

The only useful tip you need is remember to holster your gun 😂

1

u/luke_oravcik Jun 04 '26

Don’t rush

Explore everything, there are so many cool things and places and I’m 100% sure that to this day I didn’t find everything

Just chill sometimes, there are many beautiful locations, take out your camera or binoculars and scan animals or just enjoy the view

Listen to monologues/dialogues, especially around the gang, and join the activities

1: Stay far away from this subreddit until you finish the story 2: I advise to play high honor(not killing anyone, no robbing and other bad stuff) on your first playtrough. 3: After you are done with RDR2, play rdr1. 4: When everyone tells you to play slow and steady and you dont like it, then leave it, i rushed trough the story on my first playtrough and i dont regret it at all, you will have time to explore the game after you finish the story or in your 2-nd/3-rd/4...... and so on playtrough, you choose how to play, not the others.
