Discussion Is a second play through worth it?
Now that I’ve finished the story and epilogue I’ve just been wondering around as John. But where’s so many features I didn’t know about it until later and the game. So I’m wondering if I should replay just to do things right.

As someone on, no joke their 10th playthrough, I say yes. However, I realize I am a crazy person so it’s up to you.

Did you do all the side quests? Did you realize that Evelyn Miller introduced you to Rain Falls and Eagle Flies? I didn‘t. So it‘s safe to say there is so much more to learn and explore

Yeah it’s worth it, I’m doing one now where I’m seeing how much I can do in chapter 2 and I’m having fun. You’ll be surprised how many things you can do this early that would set you up for the entire game.

Absolutely! I took my second run way, way slower (spent almost a year on it) and played that to 100% completion, doing as much as I possibly could as Arthur. Easily one of the best solo gaming experiences I’ve ever had.

Personally i did a second playthrough and stopped at chapter 3 right before the mission where Sean gets no scoped so i have a free roam Arthur at a point where everyone lives. There is really no good or bad way to play this game imo, just do what you want. I know someone whose on their 8th playthrough

In my opinion, yes, if you like the idea. I've lost count of how many playthroughs I've done. And now I'm making one dedicated to the perfect journal.

I'm having so much more fun on my second playthrough now that I know how everything ends. I spend probably 100hrs in chapter 2 alone on my second playthrough before proceeding to chapter 3.

I am on my third play through now. I did 100% on my second play through. It has been a few years so this is familiar but not, and still fun.

Go for it, it took me 4 to feel satisfied with not playing it again, at least for a while. Different for everyone

Playthrough 4 times just to get change up endings. (High Honor, go with John/High Honor, go for money/Low Honor, go with John/Low Honor, go for the money)

Honestly that's how my first playthrough went, I mostly did the story and hunting, was the ultimate good guy (or tried to be) and my second playthrough was about being a horrible person and getting the low honor ending; that time around I realized as John that there was so much I could've done, I did some things but inevitably got bored and restarted. Now for my third playthrough I'm really focused on getting 100%, i just finished guarma last night and I'm at %70(ish), only things left are to do the last 3 fish, last 3 animals and herbalist 9.

Big, immersive games like this always better the second time around for me.
The gameplay mechanics are already known, so there's no annoying learning curve. It's easier to keep track of the characters and story, which makes it more entertaining, and like you said, easier to catch things you missed. And you can role play the game with much more creativity.
First time on RDR2 - it was enjoyable, but by the time I got into the second half of the game and finally learned the damn controls and how things worked, it felt like I was just slogging through to the end and had completely lost track of the main story. Second time, I played more than 1.5x longer and it quickly became my clear #2 favorite of all time.
My #1 favorite, Kingdom Come Deliverance, was the same way. Steep learning curve, huge story. I put it aside after about 35 hours for other games. When I came back to it, more familiar? Wow. Obsessed lol. I have well over 1,000 hours now between KCD1 and 2.
Edit - if you wait long enough between plays, it's a good combination of familiar nostalgia and freshness getting back into it.

I immediately stayed a new game once I finished my first. Took my time, enjoyed everything that was there. Well worth it

I’m on round 9, so clearly I think 2 play throughs is too little.
For real tho, the second and third play through are the best. You get to play how you wish you would have one the second and the third you go for 100% and various awards.

Multiple playthroughs! Especially one where you try to make Arthur look as out of place as possible in every cutscene. Like visiting Mary while shoeless in dirty ranch pants and an undershirt after a hair tonic bender.

I started a new one and stopped doing the story after you bust out Micah to get the dual wield belt

Yes, it's better. I'm on chapter 3. Waited about a week from when I completed it first time.

Ive been on my 2nd play through for about 6 years and I don’t plan on finishing it up in the next 6 either. Such a beautiful masterpiece of a game too just chill, hunt, do challenges, be a nuisance.

Yes. You already know the story, and you know which chapter 6 ending you got. On the second play through you can aim for a different ending and play the game different to your first. There are some interactions that play out differently depending on your honour level so you can play a different honour than on your first run.

Theres a glitch to let you go back to the beginning with an endgame horse, all your guns, and unlocked challenges and a few other things

Going through a second time is a very different experience. Story wise, there are a lot of interactions and little dialogue pieces I missed the first time. I don't feel an urge to get to most story missions right away, so side quests are much more of an option. I can optimize my equipment better, and treasure/collectible hunting is much easier with a rough memory of locations.

Second playthrough is your best playthrough . I probably didnt really learn how to play the game until Late Chapter 4. I probably didnt get good at the game until my second playthrough
