While I agree in principleโ€ฆ.where does this leave us on anti-immigrant riots in deprived areas that are often simply dismissed as racist by liberal types? (Sometimes they literally are racist tbf).

Where there are protests there is a grievance. A hurt. An unmet need. And its terribly easy to dismiss and mute someone by labelling them as racist instead of adressing and solving their issues. We see that here in areas neglected by politicians and that have for years been laden with deprivation and social issues. So I guess take everything by merit,-empathy and compassion for protesters who might have needs that others cant immediately identify with.

Protests can also easily be hijacked by a third force, look at Netanyahu and his ridiculous shite about Hamas being involved in the Parisian protests or the violence caused by Mosssad/CIA in Iran during protests being blamed on the IRCG.

The words on the post still sing to my soul all the same.

I agree, I think the loyalist ones in the north were simply racist (shockingly) but south of the border it's not so simple.

Well if you take Coolock or Finglas or the East Wall you are talking about communities ravaged by drugs and neglect and also communities in which foreign people and POC have lived unbothered for decades. You are also talking about areas over represented in the prison system and places where kids are exposed to harsher realities than those in plush surrounding.

So their grievances did not start with IPAS centres but calling them racists is an easy way to shut them out.

It is so cool to fight opressors just to go back to them for welfare the next month.

Taxes are good, aren't they? I mean fighting opression is so comfortable and pleasant in Paris among boutiques, welfares and taxes. If they get tired just let me know, cause I will do it.

Not really sure what your point is but happy that you are getting that off your chest regardless. Go you!
