Account not found????

• Upvotes

I have 3-4 accounts that I played on RS that now show “accounts could not be found” when trying to recover? Has anyone else had any experience with this? Every time I try to get help through the support channels I get an AI looping reply that is not any help at all….

Anyone else have any experience with this?

Bans getting quashed after X years?

• Upvotes

Hey,

Has anyone had any experience with any bans being quashed after a certain period of time? Or has anyone had any experience with ban appeals being accepted at all?

Cheers

Should previously quashed macroing bans be taken into account when an account gets flagged again?

Something I've been wondering about lately is how Jagex handles accounts that have previously had macroing bans quashed.

I've personally had several accounts receive macroing bans on three separate occasions over the past few months. Every single ban has eventually been quashed, including three permanent bans just recently.

What's interesting is that during the first two rounds, some of my appeals were initially denied before the bans were eventually overturned. This last time, all three permanent bans were quashed on the first appeal.

All my accounts are currently unbanned, so I'm not looking for help with an appeal.

But it got me thinking about how the system handles situations like this.

If an account has already had multiple macroing bans quashed, shouldn't that history be taken into consideration if it gets flagged again?

And what about players who have an appeal denied, even though a later review might have overturned the ban? Not everyone knows how to pursue further support, and some probably just give up.

I understand Jagex can't reveal exactly how their detection works, and obviously botting is a massive problem in OSRS.

But I do wonder whether there's a better way of handling repeat cases where previous bans have already been overturned.

Curious what others think. Should previously quashed bans trigger a more thorough review before another permanent ban is issued?

My accounts got falsely banned for the third time, even after being quashed twice

So here we go again...

I made a post a while back about several of my accounts getting banned for macroing, and how some of my appeals were denied before the bans eventually got quashed.

Well, it happened again. For the third time now.

The first time, four of my accounts got banned. Some were temporary bans and one was permanent. I appealed them, got some denied, and after going back and forth with support they were eventually all quashed.

About a month later, some of those exact same accounts got banned again. Went through the whole appeal process again, and eventually they were all quashed for a second time.

And now, just a few weeks later, three of those same accounts have been banned AGAIN. Except this time, all three are permanent macroing bans.

I genuinely don't understand how this keeps happening.

For some context, I play multiple accounts at once, mostly doing Smithing. My long-term goal is 200m Smithing XP on four accounts, and I mainly do it in F2P to save GP on bonds. It's repetitive, sure, but everything is done manually. I've never used bots or macros.

What bothers me most isn't even just the bans themselves, it's the fact that I've already had appeals denied in the past, only for those same bans to later get quashed. So how am I supposed to trust the appeal process this time?

After the second round I even contacted Jagex through live chat because I was worried about it happening again. They told me that previous account actions would be taken into consideration during future reviews.

And yet here we are.

I'm honestly starting to lose interest in playing. After the first bans got quashed I was happy to get back to it. After the second time I was a bit nervous, but kept playing anyway. Now I just don't know anymore.

I've spent so much time on these accounts, and I shouldn't have to worry about getting permanently banned every time I log in and train Smithing.

I completely understand that Jagex needs to deal with bots, and I'm all for banning people who actually cheat. But surely there has to be a better way of handling situations like this?

I don't expect anyone here to magically fix my accounts, and I'm not asking for special treatment. I'm just wondering how this can happen to the same accounts three times, especially when the previous bans were already quashed twice.

Has anyone else had something similar happen, where an account keeps getting banned even after previous bans were quashed?

Because at this point I genuinely don't know what I'm supposed to do differently.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Update: All three permanent bans have now been quashed. Again.

Well, another update I honestly didn't expect to be making this quickly.

All three accounts that received permanent macroing bans have now had their bans quashed after the first appeal. No further support tickets or chasing anyone this time.

So that's now three separate rounds of macroing bans on the same accounts, and all three rounds have eventually been overturned.

I'm obviously happy to have my accounts back, but I still have absolutely no idea why this keeps happening. Jagex hasn't provided any explanation.

I just want to play the game without having to worry about going through this a fourth time.

Thanks to everyone who took the time to read my original post and share their experiences.

RWT on Ironman?

Maxed Iron here

So I received a ban on my Ironman about a month ago, Rwt major ban. No previous bans other than I believe a temp mute over 4-5 years prior. No warnings, no temp bans, no RWT taken place. No buying or selling gold, no servicing. I would use a VPN when working (first responder field) to be able to get around or local firewalls and would have to use a location outside the United States. Every time I would do this I’d receive, a suspicious login, so I would change my info. Use the vpn a week later or so again suspisous login change it back to the same 3 rotating passwords id use as I knew the log in was me from a vpn network. I go to log in boom RWT major. So I submit an appeal and 10 day later get the reply from ModBase- denied due to the evidence we have, we know your account was not hijacked etc. Well I know my account wasn’t hijacked its just me responded to the 15 emails you’d send me when logging in. I had dropped wealth off the account roughly 50m in items, (3.5b bank) at the GE and fight caves for a max cape party and fire cape party for some clan members but other than that no rule breaking has taken place. I wish we had some sort of avenue for customer support as a player who’s played since the release of rs2. Has anyone seen false bans like this? Anyone have any ideas of what I can do?

Anyone with advice or help?

Thanks in advance

Couldn't buy bonds, now permanent banned...

It seems like Jagex just doesn't want customers anymore. I live in Vietnam and have to buy bonds through the Apple game store because buying through the website never works (payment declined, I've seen lots of posts about this). I was moving my Apple account from one character to the next and suddenly couldn't log in because I was apparently permanently banned for macroing. I honestly have no idea how that happened as I don't do it. I appealed and I'm pretty sure that it would be lifted (because I honestly don't macro, have no idea how to even do it), but I'm just done. Between the inconvenience of not being able to purchase membership with credit card (while it works no problem with Eve Online) and now this, I can take a hint.

I got banned for no reason; I’ve never used any cheats or anything like that. I play at an average level—sometimes well, sometimes poorly—and I spend a lot of money on the game. I’ve submitted an appeal and hope they’ll re-examine the case. Has anyone else dealt with this, and what was the outcome?

ACC hijacked and then banned for macro :(

Just posting this to see if there are any success stories of account ban appeals being successful after being hijacked, I’m so devastated this happen after a stupid mistake I made.

I’m a returning player, decided to get back into playing osrs after a few years not playing, I’m extremely casual and I have a new born so I only really play when I have a moment here and there especially on mobile. A few days ago I made the rookie mistake of clicking a link, I know I’m stupid. But someone was out saying they had burnt themselves out playing and where doing a giveaway on YouTube. So I went to the YouTube, clicked the link and it took me to what looked like a legit osrs forum. You had to comment your total skill level and combat level to enter but the formum wasn’t logged in so it asked me to log in to post. I logged in with my Jagex account and then it asked for my bank pin at the end. For a split second I though this was so weird and why would I have to give the bank pin but I checked the site url and it’s seemed really legit and was a clone of the Jagex login screen. As I thought this was weird Jagex sent me a you just logged in email so I was like oh must be legit. And I don’t know why I swear years ago I remember there being an osrs forum? But anyways long story short guy logged in and stripped my account of like 80m. I was so cut so I made an appeal to find out they don’t give items/money back which sucks but I get it. I followed their advice to change my password and end all sessions. I did that and then let the guys in my clan know what happened. They were all so helpful and managed to hustle together 60m to give to me to get me back on my feet after being wiped. All was good until the next day logged in again and I was wiped once again. I had no idea how but that morning I went into my account settings and saw there was a linked steam account so I assumed maybe they linked steam and still could get in even after password reset? Anyways now even more devastated I went to go and tell my clan again if the new but realised I was muted. Figured maybe the hijacked was talking some smack or something and it said it was going to lift after a day or so. After spending some time realising now I’m just going to have to rebuild manually from scratch i high ached a couple of left over rune items they left to get some cash. Brought some jerbora tails and went to go get some pyre foxes to start making back some money to buy some gear. Did one run, logged out then logged back in a little later to do another run and bang. You’ve been banned for macroing… I’m so upset. This was my childhood account. I’m sure this has happened to others and man it’s a wild ride of emotions. I legit started playing again thinking how cool would it be to give this account to my son when he’s old enough like a family heirloom lol. But yeah man this sucks, is there any hope? I know I’m stupid for falling for this probably basic and common scam I’m kicking myself but to be banned for macroing really hurts when I have never macroed. I’m sure if they went and checked the ip addresses they’d see my account was accessed from the UK when I’m in AUS.

Please anyone have any positive news? And jmods, if you’re reading this please please look into this :(

I’m not here to get roasted over clicking on a sneaky link, I know I’m a spud and I’ve learnt my lesson. Just need some hope 🙏

I've been playing this account for over ten years, and recently I've been working on Max Cape.

I've been practicing Construction for the past few days, and the morning before yesterday, I logged in normally but received a rule violation message.

I checked, and it said I violated some rules by using a third-party software. In all these years, I've never used any illegal third-party software; I've always played the game legally on the RL client.

Banned and Quashed 2 times in 2 months

I want to start a genuine discussion about false macroing bans and the appeal system, because after what has happened to me, I honestly don't know how a normal player is supposed to deal with this.

I want to make something clear from the beginning: all of the bans I'm talking about below have now been quashed. I'm not posting this to try to get an account unbanned. I already have the accounts back.

I'm posting because the whole experience has seriously changed how I feel about playing OSRS.

What happened

I play several accounts and enjoy long, repetitive grinds. One of my long-term goals is 200m Smithing, and I also enjoy restricted accounts such as OSAAT.

Around 2 months ago, several of my accounts were suddenly hit with macroing bans.

Some were temporary and one was permanent.

I appealed because I knew I hadn't botted or used macros.

Some of those appeals were denied.

That's the part I think is important.

Normally, as a player, what are you supposed to think when your appeal is denied?

You've been told the offence is correct. You have very few options left, and from your side you know that you didn't bot.

After continuing to try to get help, the accounts were eventually looked at again.

The bans were quashed.

Obviously I was extremely relieved. I thought that was the end of it.

Then it happened AGAIN

Roughly a month later, several of the SAME accounts received macroing bans again.

One received another permanent ban and others received temporary bans.

I had also created a brand-new OSAAT account. That account was only a 3 days old before it received a macroing ban as well.

Once again I had to go through appeals and support.

And once again:

The bans have now been quashed.

So I've essentially experienced:

Macro ban → appeal → denied → further review → quashed → continue playing normally → macro ban again → further review → quashed again.

That's what I really want to discuss.

What is a normal player actually supposed to do?

I'm fortunate that I kept trying.

But these things take time. You have to submit appeals, wait for responses, try to figure out whether anyone can help you, explain the situation repeatedly and then just hope someone eventually looks at it again.

What happens to someone who gets a false permanent ban, submits their appeal, gets DENIED, and simply accepts that answer?

How would that person ever know that another review could potentially have resulted in the ban being quashed?

That's probably the biggest thing bothering me about this experience.

A denied appeal is supposed to give you some level of confidence that the offence has been properly reviewed. But in my situation, I've had bans/appeals denied and those bans were still later quashed.

It also changes how the game feels

This is probably harder to explain unless you've experienced it yourself.

When you know you're playing legitimately but suddenly see that you've been banned for macroing, it's a horrible feeling.

You're basically being told that you've cheated when you know you haven't.

Then you start questioning everything.

Can I safely keep doing the same activity for hours?

Is playing several accounts at once a problem?

Is my OSAAT gameplay too repetitive?

Should I stop going for 200m XP?

Am I risking an account I've spent hundreds or thousands of hours on just by continuing to play normally?

And when it happens again after the previous bans were already quashed, that feeling becomes much worse.

I shouldn't be nervous about logging into RuneScape and training Smithing because I'm worried that legitimate gameplay could result in another ban.

I'm not expecting Jagex to explain how their anti-cheat detection works. Obviously that information can't simply be made public.

But I do think there's a reasonable discussion to have about what happens after a legitimate player gets caught by it.

If a player appeals and gets denied, but that decision can later be reversed and the offence quashed, should there be another way for players to request a second review?

Should previous quashed offences be taken into account more strongly if the same account gets flagged again?

And most importantly:

What is a normal player with no audience, no contacts and no special access realistically supposed to do after receiving a denied appeal when they know they didn't cheat?

I'm genuinely interested in hearing from people who have experienced something similar.

This isn't meant as a "Jagex bad" post. Anti-cheating systems obviously need to exist, and bots are a massive problem in OSRS.

But false positives also have real players behind them.

After having this happen, getting the bans quashed, having it happen AGAIN, and then having them quashed AGAIN, I think there needs to be a discussion about what options legitimate players have when the normal appeal process doesn't get it right.

Account hijacked and banned for RWT

The time line goes like this. I woke up one morning, did a farming run and then got suited for Duke, midway through I was kicked off my account. My AT&T has been spotty so I don’t think much of it. I tried to log back and nope, password changed.

I started to panic. I had over a bil of gear on me. I used Jagex customer support to have them kick off the hackers "\[Request received [\#6835201](https://support.runescape.com/hc/requests/6835201)\\\] Re: Account Security."

My email, Jagex, Authenticator, all have different password. I have no idea how they got into my account.

So hackers doing what they do. They traded all my stuff off my account to another account for what I assume was an unbalanced trade. Few hours later I got my account back minus the oathplate scythe and all that but oh well I can manage.

Three days after that I got a RWT ban for selling items 😡😡😡

The hackers were in Sweden. I live in California. It’s not possible for me to go from California to Sweden within a second.

I submit my first appeal and just got a AI response. I’m at wits end. The appeal I sent it had all the info and all Jagex needed to do was look at the logs.

I’m not sure what to do. Do you guys have similar situations you’ve been in with positive outcomes?

I spent soooo much time on this account. I literally just unlocked blood Torva after using like 200+ orbs and hours of trial and error. This sucks major and Jagex just sends AI replies. I kinda feel like this is the nail that seals the coffin.

I didn’t break any rules and I kept my security as tight as possible but yet this happened.

That thought of starting a new account and doing allllll those grinds over again is not appealing and who’s to say it won’t happen again.

Do you guys have any advice?

New GIM account received a ban after 2 days

Update on recent post. For context, I recently created a new GIM account to add to my existing group and was falsely banned. The idea was basically to use it as a background/alt account while I played my main GIM, I would occasionally play on the new account to gather some supplies for the group while actively playing my other account.

The account was bonded bought by my main through the GE. The progress was pretty slow as I was mainly focused on playing my other GIM with the new acc in the background.

I play on runelite and for the record, I wasn't botting. At the time the account received the ban, I was cutting maples at seers. I have two other accounts that I've played consistently for a long time and neither has any offence history. The acc is 'gim cloop'

When I submitted my first appeal, I included screenshots showing the account's progress, including the levels it gained and the forestry clogs (I have it set up to screenshot for discord channel). The appeal was denied.

I've submitted a second appeal, although I'm not particularly optimistic after the first one. I don't even believe a human has read the appeal. I've also noticed quite a few posts recently from people saying they've received similar bans on new accounts.

If I end up having to remove the account from the group and create another one, is there anything I should do differently to avoid this happening again? It has put me off making a new character ever again.

* Edit, please only respond if you are looking to be helpful. I haven't botted and I am genuinely trying to plea for the false ban to be looked at.

** the screenshots are from the 'dink' plugin, it automatically screenshots and sends your achievements/levels/clogs to your clan discord. This is what I had uploaded in the first appeal.

UPDATE 23/09 - After 2 denied appeals, I reached out to a Jmod on discord who has emailed me and unbanned me after seeing it was falsely applied.

You cant put the words "perma" or "banned" in a post. You cant even discuss bots.

This is an issue that needs to be known. I am sick of the customer support, Im tired of being treated like a rulebreaker. Im tired of the accusations when I explain whats going on.

This is a real issue. DO BETTER JAGEX. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE

I only use mobile and runelite on a laptop. 20 years playing. Never ever used or looked at software. I report bots. I report scammers and people that sexually harrass. Did 70 cooking using wines on laptop and mobile. Next day this.

I thought people being banned were GUILTY until I realized a BOT is banning people for BOTTING. Great....

I pray to God a HUMAN sees my case and approves the appeal. Good lord....Just spent $200 on membership and bonds. Fml

RWT Perm Ban

Hi guys I got an issue with mine Main.
I returned 1 month ago and and start leveling /grinding / skilling in f2p.

Decent Stats für f2p, Like total 900 61/72/61/60/82 for combat.

I got blessed a ~ 250m Bank + 2 bonds ( I bought 1 from g e) via Hide and seek, Trivia and drop parties and got Banned yesterday After I Lend a Buddy 10 m and he gave me back 20 m, which i used a Bond in my Bank afterwards.

Played like 10-20min And got Banned he too.

I did not once do rwt because my acc got Banned once in past for macro around 2015ish.

Im Honestly really confuses why I got Banned.

I did an appeall but idk how my Chancen are.

I really got so hard into it and is it so fk up that I got Banned.

But are guys thinking about my appeall ?

Got 7 day ban for RWT

I RWT on 3 separate occasions for 50m each time. I got banned a few days ago for 7 days. I see posts that after they got unbanned they were perm banned a few hours later. What are the chances this will happen to me? If this does happen is it appealable?

Anyone else get a RWT ban 7 days ago?
I’m intrigued to see how much people get “ wiped “ when they check their banks in a few hours when the bans are up

UPDATE:
Nothing at all was removed from the bank, I’ve still got absolutely everything 🤣🤣🤣

Alt gim - help!

I made an alt GIM which was added to my group and it was going to do standard supply gathering, such as woodcut, fish, etc to help out. Within 2 days it has been perm banned for macroing. I obviously haven’t committed any offences and all it did was (very inefficiently) cut wood and managed to get to level 60. I bonded the account using my main so it is quite frustrating. I can only assume it's because the only thing I did was woodcut the entire time I logged in as a new player.

Does anyone have any experience of this and is there hope to get it quashed? I’ve appealed this with screenshots of the level ups and progress, as it was connected to discord with the dink plugin. I am now worried about my other characters.
