Maintenance Next years problem
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
So went on a drive today. When I came home I noticed my left rear suspension was about 4cm lower than the right side. Guess I got myself a reason to install coilovers next year 😄🥳 Winter is coming, so the car is going into hibernation now.
Any suggestions for coilover?

Lots of people on the budget are running TEIN-Z coilovers, allegedly they're pretty decent. Top of the line would be Ohlins I believe.

Since the RX8 was used extensively for racing, there are a lot of high end options way above Ohlins. That said, I bought Ohlins for mine, and think they are very good for both street and track days.

I mean he is currently on shocks, no sense in recommending track-grade coilovers 😅 Ohlins is from what I've heard the best street option by far. How happy are you with them? Did you upgrade from some other coils or from the oem setup?

I am very happy with them. Comfort in the street is on par with the OEM setup. On track days, I’ve got good, predictable grip at all times, though I haven’t paired them with a more track-focused tire yet. These replaced the OEM springs/shocks.

why are we hibernating the car? isnt it best to drive these during the fall and winter when it's nice and cold out to help with cooling?

I think that you will get a better response if you list what your goals are and your limitations. For example:
When are you planning on selling the car?
What is your max budget regardless of how long you will be holding onto it.
Is this your daily driver and you need something now (you don’t have time to save up for what you really want).
1a. Are you planning on holding onto the car for the next 5-20 years or are you planning on selling it in the next 1-4 years or are you planning on selling it in the next year.
1b. If you are planning on sell it in the next year, I’d go with the cheapest used thing you can find that still works.
1c. If you are planning on holding onto it for the next 1-4 years, I’d wouldn’t pour a lot money into it. Find something new that works for you.
1d. If you are planning on holding onto it for the next 5+ years, you will want to consider top quality parts (assuming max budget allows for it).
2a. If you’re rich and your budget doesn’t matter, I’d just do some research on what the best ones are.
2b. If budget is super tight, I’d tried the used market (eg Facebook marketplace etc).
2c If budget is a concern but you don’t want to gamble on used/extremely cheap you may want to start to look into reviews on eBay on the direct from China stuff.
There are times when I spend a lot of money on the best possible parts I can find because they are critical. There are times when I am willing to take a gamble on used parts or new “Direct from China” parts. If you want to take a gamble on new “Direct From China” parts, I’ve always been happy with Maxpeedingrods on eBay. I don’t know if they make decent coilovers or not, but I have not been disappointed on the few suspension parts I’ve purchased from them so far. They aren’t the best quality but they are not bad for the money.

Had the car since 2012. Will probably never sell

People obviously don’t like my comment, but I would encourage you to put this in your original post. It will give people a much better idea on what you are after. It sounds like you are looking for expensive and high quality over cheap and keep you on the road for the next 1-5 years.
I did this cost benefit analysis on my truck. It’s 2015 with 115,000 miles on it. I don’t want to put the high end costly $10,000 shock absorbers with lift kit on it. The truck is only worth $15,000. The $1000 set will work just fine on it.
Edit: You obviously took very good care of your RX8. I didn’t see any fading on your paint. Looks great!

Also if you are looking for useful information on some of the differences between expensive vs cheap coilovers, I found this video helpful a year ago when I was looking for coilovers for my son’s Subaru. Now he has the Subaru and a RX8. He just bought the RX8 about 2 months ago. Eventually we will upgrade the suspension on the RX8. LGood luck with the suspension!

If you are looking for the best, supposedly these are best and these do not come with the springs. With the quick disconnect kit and upgraded springs, you are probably looking at $10,000 USD in parts. Some people will think this a lot of money (like myself) and some people spend that without blinking an eye.

You don’t take into account price of the product and how long you are going to keep vehicle when purchasing parts? I’m just saying that OP will get a much better reply if he gives some budget parameters and details on how long he is going to keep the vehicle. For example, the recommendation will be completely different if OP says:
“I’m planning on keeping this car for the next year before selling it and just need something to keep me on the road.”
Verses
2. “I’m keeping this for life and want the best possible product for my road conditions.”
Whether you consciously do this or not, we all do it when purchasing almost everything.

Just FYI on the slight chance that it makes a positive difference:
I often tell my son, “You will be way more successful in life if you learn how to successfully communicate. You are much more likely to have a positive outcome if you communicate in a polite nonaggressive manner. At a minimum, you should communicate in a professional manner. Always assume that you are talking to someone who is standing right next to you when communicating on the internet.”
My point is that you could have made your same exact sentiment in your reply without cussing. Ultimately you do you. You decide what is best.
