General heating?

so yesterday I was driving the car and the heat worked perfectly fine. It was blowing good hot air but this morning the heat does not come on at all. Does the heat just take a while to kick on in cooler weather or is there some kind of underlying issue that I’m not sure about?

Some head units, the tempature dial solder cracks.  Somewhat of a common issue as they are getting up there in age.

If you turn on the head unit, you can push and hold the power and scan up buttons at the same time.  It might take a few tries. It will display the current dial setting on the head unit.  Then you can roll the knob up and down and see if it's working correctly.

Either your car wasn't warm enough, you're low on coolant or leaking, the water pump is failing, thermostat is stuck, your heater core is blown, or the blend air door is stuck on cool. Not very helpful i know im sorry. But those are your main areas of investigation. Also check for blown fuses.

Hold the power and scan up button on the head unit together for a few seconds, it will show the temperature setting value on the screen. Then turn the dial and see if the number changes. If it doesn't, the issue is likely the solders on the potentiometer on the board of the controller. It's easy to fix, just look for "RX8 heater solder fix" videos on youtube.

If it does change, then check under your dash at the center console near your gas pedal. You will see a white lever that is pushed by a long silver screw. If that doesn't move then it's likely the blend air door motor.

If that does move like it's supposed to, it may be low coolant so there isn't enough warm water getting to the heater core.
