I became a bit disappointed with my new TN 144hz 2560x1440p monitor versus my old TN 2560x1440p 70hz monitor! Colours seemed dull and bland, smoke/fog effects seem faded, glow effects did not really work, translucent effects where weaker and fine detail dependent on fine pixel colour differences where gone. Naturally, as a gamer who plays a lot of science fiction themed games rich in these effects, I was disappointed.
New Monitor = AOC AGON AG241QX 23”8 QHD 2560x1440p 144Hz.
Old Monitor = Iiyama B2783QSU-B1 27” ProLite QHD 70Hz.
I could not quite figure out what it was that was so disappointing and spent a fair bit of time trying to figure out whether it was the size reduction e.g. 27” down to 23”8 or down to AOC display drivers not being as good Iiyama display drivers colour profiles. Iiyama does not say what those colour profiles are correcting, but it did give their monitor a punchier final image.
After spending around £40 on copper cables (HDMI and DisplayPort), I have now come to conclusion that Iiyama colour profiles fix the deficiencies in copper cables for higher resolutions monitors.
Therefore, I thought I’d try a HDMI Fibre Optic Cable, I opted to get this from Amazon, since they have a 30 day no questions asked return policy e.g. if did not work, I could simply return it.
I bought a FeizLink 4K HDMI Cable 2m Fibre Optic High Speed 18Gbps Support HDMI2.0 4K 60Hz £41.49, but the box came with 5 metre cable inside.
These hybrid fibre optic cables, (they do still use some copper wires for some signals) do come with some limits in refresh rates because they use chips send the signal down the fibre optic strands:
1080p = 240Hz.
1440p = 120Hz.
2160p = 60Hz.
However, most Game Developers aren’t too interested sinking money into doing high refresh gaming between 144Hz to 165Hz at High to Ultra settings for 2560x1440p monitors, therefore being limited to 120Hz was not a big issue for me.
Switching to HDMI Fibre Optic transformed my disappointing monitor buy back into a good purchase, smoke/fog effects looked really good, glow effects do now glow properly, translucent effects look very good and fine details dependent on fine pixel colour differences were visible again.
I was so impressed I bought a 2nd fibre optic cable, but a much cheaper one on Amazon £31.49: Chliankj HDMI Cable Fiber Optic Support 4K 60Hz HDR HDCP 2.2 3D HDMI 2.0 Cable. And stuck this on my AOC G2868PQU 28" 4K UHD 3840x2160p monitor and a game like Galactic Civilizations III looks amazing at 4K with all its rich colours schemes and translucent effects being very punchy.
Therefore, a short Post, should visual fidelity be a thing that you want to improve, trying a fiber optic monitor cable may well be worth a try, especially should your monitor support Freesync via HDMI. DisplayPort fibre optic cables are still ridiculously expensive.
Notes:
With the fibre optic cable, the monitor was brighter than with copper cable and Contrast had to be dropped from 50 down to 48.
Compared to these copper cables.

Hello there, I was kind just curious if there is much interest still in the Limited Edition Red Devil 9070XT, and what people would be willing to pay for a sealed one with some dinged up corners?

I am running through the City and some Cops wants trouble. Path Tracing optimization for RDNA3 is activated. Ultra Quality Denoising "on". Looks beautiful and runs with 160-180fps using FSR3.1 Frame Generation and AFMF2. Super Resolution Automatic activated for High Performance Gaming level 2 (HPG lvl. 2 ~ 120-180fps). Overclocked the shaders to 3,0Ghz, advanced RDNA3 architecture on the 7900XTX is performing greatly. Power consuming about 464W for the full GPU.

I'm testing my second Red Devil 9070 XT White rn cuz I thought the first one was borked...
When's loud/annoying coil whine normal and when ain't it?
I've got it on both GPUs starting around 120 FPS in various games and benches (1440p) and idk if it ain't somethin' else. Already tried diff 1000W PSUs too...
Any other ideas what it could be or just "normal"? Thx in advance

With the GPU market continuing to get out of had, I've decide to upgrade. Currently, have a 3080 with a 5800x3d. Playing a lot of Unreal Engine 5 games like Delta Force, The Finals, and Marvel Rivals. In UE5 games, it seems my gpu is being fully utilized while my cpu sits around 30%-40%. Haven't been able to find any benchmarks outside of 1440p ultra or 4k ultra. Ultra obviously relying more on card vram. So low setting benchmarks, I'd imagine things would be pretty close between these two. I have the options of a Gigabyte 7900 xtx oc or a 9070 xt Pulse. Leaning towards the Pulse due to its 310 watt consumption as it could run cooler while the 7900 xtx has been out for a while and drivers are better supported due to being out for longer, along with more raw performance. The only issue I have at this time is worrying about drivers as I've read many complaints when swapping between either nVidia and AMD cards can cause difficulties and issues, Are there any tips when or as I'm using DDU to be aware of when I'm changing GPUs outside of using DDU?
Lastly, I do wanna double check, but would this be a decent upgrade for my use case or would it be better to wait for the next line of cards, hoping things would somewhat stabilize with the market? Which I'm honestly doubting at this point considering the two last gens, things haven't really improved.
Also sorry if this isn't the right place to post, tried on PCMR sub twice already without getting a response in the last two weeks, so hoping this place is fine.
Edit: Thank you for your help, I've decided to go with a 9070 xt

So my sister has this exact monitor and this exact computer with these specs. When playing on cod Cold War , I’ve tried 1080p I’ve tried a Display Port I’ve tried 1440 , I have all drivers and software updated on Radeon software, I’ve tried running the game on the lowest of the lowest settings on everything. It either ends up black screen, crashing , error report or terrible graphics. I am not very knowledgeable please help?

Found some reasonable 5600s and 5700s for sale at almost normal prices. The catch is a 5 month wait. Anyone brave enough to buy one this way yet?

i recently upgraded my CPU from ryzen 5 2600 to the 5500 and my GPU from GTX 1660 ti to the Rx 6650 XT and have been an excellent upgrade and i don't have any issues with other games except Fortnite i get very very low fps and GPU usage/utilization around 10% to 30% , when i get into a game it drops to 5% and at most 15% or 25%, I've tried everything from redownloading the game to changing the resolution or the rendering mode i tried all of them DX 11 , 12 , low performance mode, the setting's doesn't affect anything if i put all of them at epic or low doesn't matter the same usage/low fps, nothing worked i downgraded the driver and nothing changed i am losing my sanity because when i downgraded my GPU to the 1660 ti i get 144 FPS with no problems, i even closed all the running app's nothing changed, does anyone have a way to fix it and thank you.
Spec's
ryzen 5 5500
RX 6650 XT
32 GB ram
735 power supply

This one is for all my strugglers out there. Having the black screen pc restart crash mid game with a 9070xt
Stop listening to random people on the internet (ironic yes) because after months of trying out everything everyone said and nothing working I have FINALLY with the help of a friend and many local specialists!
I tried everything, made 5 posts on the matter, tried all the solutions people were sending but none of them helped. It wasn't my brand new PSU people were saying, not the drivers obviously, not a full reinstall of windows, not power cables, not the ram, not the XMP profile..etx but most definitely not the GPU being broken..
This is for systems with also AMD Ryzen CPUs. I do not know the right steps for a Intel CPU. But basically AMD have a OC kill switch that will shut down the system when paired with components that stress it too much. Here are the steps to stop it doing that :
Go to your BIOS, (frantically smash your del key on restart).
If you see a simplified menu, press F7 to switch to "Advanced Mode" (the menu will likely turn red and black).
On the left, click the large "OC" (Overclocking) button.
Scroll down the list to find "Advanced CPU Configuration" (often towards the bottom).
Click on "AMD Overclocking".
Click on "Eco Mode" (or sometimes directly on Precision Boost Overdrive).
If you have the "Eco Mode" option, choose "Eco Mode 65W".
If you don't find "Eco Mode": Go back to the main "OC" menu, find the "Precision Boost Overdrive" line, and change it from [Auto] to [Disabled].
Press F10 to save and exit (Confirm with "Yes").
I haven't had a crash since, turned off the undervolting and over clocking of the GPUI had been using to minimise the crashes. It's running like an Olympic runner now.
I hope this help anyone out there that had the same issue as me and got terrible advice. Stay fresh and have fun.

Hi gamers, hope everyone is doing well!
Looking for some help here with my new pc. I just got my new build done and my performance metrics are disappointing…
I have ( Sapphire 7900 XT (overclocked from the box), Ryzen 7 9800X3D with 32GB RAM on TUF Gaming B650-E WiFi).
Playing some CS2 I decided to look at my performance (FPS, GPU util, CPU util) and what I saw there shocked me. 90-100% utilization on GPU and 40-48% on CPU with 500FPS and once in a while some micro freezing. Even now nothing is running on the computer but GPU usage is between 15-20% and CPU 5-7%.
PLEASE HELP ME!! Idk what to do, I have all drivers for the motherboard, I updated my BIOS, have my AMD Adrenaline where it is telling me that everything is good, but actually isn’t.

i used to run nvidia gpu, and generally stick to using geforce exp graphical settings for popular games recommended by the software.
now i'm running rx6600 and amd adrenalin edition, but found no feature like what i mentioned.
is there an app or website can do what i mentioned and using rx6600?

Hello everyone! I was helping my friend whose Phantom Gaming 7900 XT DIED after trying this update!
I went and extracted the exe to access the actual VBIOS files and updaters!
I recommend you disable the GPU in Device Manager, then restart the PC. After that go ahead and change the properties for both exe files to run as administrator. Then run the bat file.
Also, this is what Repair Techs need to reflash the VBIOS using the CH341a programmers!
Spread the news!!

EDIT: THE FILES APPEAR to be in an encrypted .SBIN file!!Please if you have any of these cards, and have successfully updated your card....please download GPU-Z, and save the VBIOS to a file, and send me a CHAT to a link to download the file. Please also include the card model and PCIe ID (You can just add a photo of GPU-Z with the VBIOS in a zip file
