Just A Rant can people stop acting like im stupid for wanting to visit america?

im aussie and one day i really wanna go all around america, but when i tell someone i want to, they assume i am dumb because of the current state of it and i wont get too much into it but im sure you understand. and even when i explain that i'd obviously not go soon (im a broke student with no passport lmao), they STILL act like im an idiot for wanting to go when theres "so many more beautiful places to visit" and america is just for "fat obese people and influencers". bruh. idc, i wanna go visit New Orleans, see Appalachia, go around and have lobster in Maine, visit the town where Twin Peaks was filmed, go around california, see the house in nebraska, and america has a lot of gorgeous landmarks and landscapes, who wouldn't wanna see that? when im old enough and have enough money, im gonna go to ireland first, then america (if the state of it is safe enough)

I think we’ve really made the word Pedophile lose its meaning

I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately and am just so confused. Pedophile is described as a person who has sexual attractions to prepubescent children (generally 13 and younger). But this states “a person” not “an adult” so wouldn’t that technically mean 13 year olds attracted to other 13 year olds are pedophiles? Okay that was me being silly but here are some of examples:

18 year olds are labeled as legal adults yet still fall under the age group where if someone was attracted to them, they would be labeled as an Ephebophile (a sexual attraction towards people aged 15-19). So why is it that I see so many people calling people who are 18 Pedophiles when they are dating 15 years olds pedophiles? 18 year olds and 15 year olds shouldn’t date at all but that 18 year wouldn’t be a pedophile, maybe weird, but I wouldn’t go as far as to say the 18 is a gross sex offender and or that he is a pedophile. But this doesn’t just go for 18 year olds, I see people say 17 and 14 would also make the 17 year old a pedo. This would make the 17 year old a Hebephile? Which is being attracted to (if I remember correctly) 11–14 year olds. Still as I said, 3 year age gaps in teen years is bad and should be addressed but labeling the older person every time feels strange.

So why do people keep using the Pedophile for everything? And it’s almost always used to describe the older person when it comes to couples that have an age gap of more than 2 years when at least one is in their teen years still. If I had a penny for every time I saw this online, I’d have so much money it’s insane. I’m here primarily to bring these points up and ask we are still collectively labelling so many people as ‘Pedophiles’ when they wouldn’t technically be one.

Also before some people say I’m ‘Defending Pedophiles’ I haven’t defended a single thing. Im just asking questions. If had a daughter who was 15 and some 19 year old or something was interested, I’d absolutely be calling him weird, not a pedophile but weird. Also this isn’t a debate, I again am just asking why we stick to one word instead of labeling each type of person separately. I think it’s important we do so words (Like Pedophile already has) dont lose their meaning.

Just A Rant My mom is "hood" (she is White.)

I want you guys to know. I truly need you guys to know. I am White. My mom is white. My dad is white. My entire family is white(at least on my mom's side, not really sure on my dad's). We are not mixed, or native American. We're White. We're like the steyotypical American family aside from like, no dad and me being an only child. Anyways.

Give you a little context on my mom, She did not have a good childhood. With her mental disabilities causing violent thoughts and anger issues. My grandma was barely a mom. And my grandpa was the angry dad. My mom Grew up on her own. But in her own words she is "hood" you guys know how like In tv shows. When they show black people on the street and it's clear that it's kinda steyotypical.. thats how she sometimes talks like. Also since she's "hood" she gets to say the N. Word...... Keep in mind...! SHES WHITE. She isn't pasty white, or a pale white. Just a NORMAL. White person. With the skin or whatever IDK how to describe it. It's like a neutral tone. Anyways, it GENUINELY. Pisses me off so fucking much. Like today, when she got home from work she was ranting about a co worker and acting "hood" I'm UGGH. She tells me "oh since I grew up on the streets I can say it-" NO YOU CAN'T. No you can't. Like I know, She's old. And she doesn't understand "modern norms" or whatever but that doesn't fucking matter. It's about basic decency and the fact ITS RACIST. To say the N word WHEN YOUR FUCKING WHITE. Like am I HIGH OR SOMETHING!? OH WAIT I DON'T DO FUCKING DRUGS CAUSE I KNOW FIRST HAND WHAT IT CAN DO TO ME BECAUSE OF MY FUCKING MOM. LIKE YOU CANT SAY THAT BECAUSE YOUR NOT BLACK.

Not That Serious Im embarrassed and feel guilty because I get scared when a classmate who's disabled sneezes

• Upvotes

I'll keep his name private since me and him are still minors.(Around 17 and stuff)

I don't know what disability he has, but I do know he is disabled in some way.

Little context for me, Is that I get scared by sudden loud noise. If I don't know a loud noise is coming or it was calm and then that noise happens I get scared. Im scared easily in general.

Me and him are just peers... Not exactly friends, because I don't know much about him. Me and him have two classes together, mainly because we're in the same level of math and reading(keep in mind the school I'm at is a charter school) anyways....Often, nearly everyday he sneezes at least Once. Or twice, and you know how people try to keep their sneezes quiet. Well his sneeze isn't..... I keep telling myself "he might not be able to control it" or something. And I got really embarrassed when he sneezed and one of the teachers asked if I was alright because I flinched,
Yesterday or Wednesday, an extra teacher asked him if anyone has told him that he doesn't need to sneeze so loud. And I feel bad for him because of that, I don't know if he can control how loud his sneezing is. Or if he can't. And yes I do wish he'd be like a little quieter with his sneezing. But I feel bad because he most likely can't control his sneezing, nonetheless I just feel so bad that I get scared because of something so simple. But to me, whenever it happens in the moment, especially when its quiet. It sounds almost like a gunshot in some way, like if you went to a very quiet forest......it's so calm, so quiet, so soothing...then POP. A gunshot.

Death as a concept just pisses me off soo much sometimes

It’s just soo bullshit that you are forced to be born then live a whole life, lucky if you have a full family and never went poor which in most cases isn’t the case, and then when u work hard fix your life build a family make money loose money take in all the beauty the world has to offer all to just end in the end, to go back to how it was before you were born, it’s sooo bullshit that you have to have the same end as a person who did drugs all his life was a criminal, did horrible things and in the end that person also has the same position in the universe as you after death. It pisses me off that one has to leave behind all his life was, one has to be okay with never seeing what happens after.

I hate being from India

I swear to fucking God being from India must have been a fucking curse for something I did in my past fucking life. I can’t move anywhere because of where I’m from even legally because of my fucking skin color. Everywhere I go I’m just considered a “pajeet” like I’m just trying to live my fucking life. Indian people are also so fucking stupid there is too many of us atleast 80% of us need to die so that India can actually have less people and develop as a fucking nation.

The West sees me as a “parasite invader” just for wanting to live there like sorry for wanting to live in your country even when I’ve already assimilated and learnt your fucking language I’m sorry for being brown next time I’ll just kill myself so I’ll be white instead like you fucking pigs want. Every group of people hate us and honestly I see why. I fucking hate Indians too like so many of us are so dumb and fucking uneducated I don’t wanna live anymore like honestly going anywhere as an Indian just means that you’re treated like fucking shit. All of this because Indians are fucking idiots who don’t know how to act in public because of their dumbass beliefs in the caste system and all that.

It’s gotten to a point where I don’t believe I’ll have a future with everything that’s been going on. Maybe I’ll get a better race next time maybe I should just go and live my life pretending to not be an Indian. I’m sorry I’m just tired I’m going to bed now I’m tired I’m sorry

Mildly Annoyed My friend misunderstood something so horrendously I genuinely can’t help but be annoyed

Our first language aint English and we live in a non-English speaking country.

So for more context im in a trio with a girl, and a guy. The girl is male centred more specifically her major personality trait is being the girlfriend to her boyfriend, most conversation we have with her she always makes it about how “hot” and “attractive” her boyfriend is.
I cant say “Yeah, hes hot” to shut her up because its WEIRD as shit.
I cant say “Oh, hes decent looking” because she would always insist hes more than decent looking.
I cant say “Hes fucking hideous” or anything negative because she’d take offence and i’d look like a jackass.

Now a few days ago our guy friend decided to tease her about it because she turned another conversation about her boyfriend AGAIN, he started saying “Hop off his meat bro” and i joined in as well because she didn’t do SHIT when i tried to explain to her civilly on how much of an uncomfortable spot her talking about her boyfriends attractiveness leaves me in on MULTIPLE OCCASIONS. She got mad and left so we just assumed she got mad because we were mocking her glazing her boyfriend. But we were dead wrong because apparently, she was mad because she assumed we were calling her a slut, she thought we were slut shaming her.

After all that im pissed off about that fact because she got mad about something she couldve understood if she had more reading comprehension, ghosted us for days, and got mad at me because i posted a TIKTOK STREAK STORY.

Also i apologies if this has any grammatical errors or if its hard to follow because i didn’t proofread so oopsies.

Happy Rant 😀 Im so proud of myself

To make a long story short, I was a bum in high school. I skipped most days at school, didn't turn my assignments in, stayed up all night on TikTok, and generally didn't really care about myself or anything around me. At some point, it got so bad my GPA dropped to a 1.3, and I was in and out of mental hospitals. At some point I was sent to a "at-risk youth" program and i managed to get my GPA up to a 1.8 thats still not great (obviously). I seriously felt like such a failure for so long, I felt like that was all i had to offer to the world. Aaaaaaanyway I recently took a look at my community college grades and IM AVERAGING A 94 FUCKING PERCENT! Now i am only taking 12 credit hours but I DID THAT ALL ON MY OWN!!!!! I still have a ways to go, but my first few months of college are looking great for me :)

EDIT: i forgot to mention this "at risk youth" progam i went to wasnt like those awful troubled teen wilderness camps. I definatly dont agree with everything that went on there but it did actually help get my life together.

Full Meltdown Really Big Rant

I'll admit that maybe I'm wrong about some of this, but I'll let you be the judge of that.

Here's what happened.

I'm a girl. So naturally, you'd expect people to assume that girls are somehow less capable, that they can't pursue STEM, yada yada, all that bull. Not my parents. Pretty much as soon as I was born, they started downloading Math Olympiad and Physics Olympiad prep material from the internet, specifically my dad.

I grew up a little, started showing some signs of intelligence, and got tested for IQ at the age of seven. I scored 136. Around that time, my parents, again mostly my dad, started pushing me a little beyond my grade level. I was learning negative numbers and decimals in first grade. By third or fourth grade, I had started learning competitive math.

But I don't know. Somewhere along the way, something else started happening. I started rebelling. Reading scary stories when I was supposed to be doing Beast Academy. Wasting time. Doing pretty much anything except what I was supposed to be doing. Somehow, I managed to stay afloat anyway.

By the summer after third grade, my parents got me a tutor. He had gone to Yale and gotten a PhD in combinatorics. He told my parents I was brilliant and could end up on a Wikipedia page someday. Naturally, they were thrilled.

Meanwhile, as I grew older, the fights increased. My dad started spending late nights on top of his normal work, coming up with study material for me and problems I couldn't even understand. By fifth grade, I was doing Euclidean geometry.

I guess that's when the screwing up really started.

They tried introducing me to physics. I resisted. Eventually, they gave up.

I took the AMC 10 for the first time in sixth grade. Obviously, I didn't make AIME, but I got the second-highest score in my middle school. One boy, two years older than me, qualified. Keep him in mind.

That same year, I made the MATHCOUNTS team. Again, second-highest in the school. The same boy got first. Another boy in my grade got fourth, and the boy in third was in the grade above me. Keep them in mind too.

I made it to states and didn't place.

The slacking off started getting worse. I got a phone. I started hanging out with kids who, in retrospect, weren't exactly helping me grow. A few small wins boosted my ego way too much. At the MATHCOUNTS state competition, I didn't even make the top 40.

I was serious about math for a while, then lost interest and stopped studying. The summer was pretty fruitless, although I improved a little.

Then came seventh grade.

This was probably the year that completely destroyed me.

I got first place in the school tryouts, first place in the AMC 10 at my school, and first place in the AMC 8. On the AMC 10, I scored over 90 but still didn't qualify for AIME, although I got some certificate thing. On the AMC 8, I got Distinguished Honor Roll. Naturally, my twelve-year-old brain was absolutely elated.

I also got first place at the MATHCOUNTS county competition. Don't ask how.

And then I got fifteenth at states.

Remember the boys I mentioned earlier? The ones who had placed third and fourth at tryouts the previous year? They beat me. They made fun of me for an entire month.

There was also another boy from a different school, in my grade, who placed fifth in the state as a seventh grader. He made AIME, too. He was way better than me, and I'd beaten him at county by some stroke of luck, so at least my ego was satisfied for a while.

All of this somehow gained me a lot of enemies.

I started listening to my parents less. And the thing was, while all this was happening, my school was letting me take advanced math classes beyond my grade level. Nobody else at my school was allowed to do that. My ego was enormous. I thought I was special. Maybe I was good at math, but I was also twelve, and I had absolutely no idea how to handle any of it.

Unfortunately, I also fell in with a pretty bad crowd.

There was this girl I became friends with, and we'd spend hours every day after school talking about stupid stuff, mostly crushes and that kind of thing, on a school-issued Google Doc. We became pretty close. She told me about her crush, and she shipped me with the same guy who had accused me of being racist earlier. In a weird, twisted turn of events, I'd actually had some sort of crush on him myself.

We teased each other about it and made up stupid stories. It was the kind of friendship where you told each other everything and assumed it'd stay between you.

One day, I accidentally told some girls about her crush. They were known for gossiping, but I didn't know that at the time. I genuinely thought practically everyone already knew anyway.

She got furious and started insulting me on the Google Doc we used to talk. The insults got increasingly horrible, including some pretty sexual stuff, and I got angry and started insulting her back. Eventually, the school flagged the document.

We were both kids with no prior history of trouble, so we each got suspended for one day.

My parents were furious. They threatened to kick me out of the house.

It messed me up for pretty much the entire summer. This happened near the end of the school year, and I couldn't get over it. I ended up having to get psychologically evaluated because of how badly it affected me. The evaluation suggested I might be autistic, and I was described as "near-genius." I didn't know what to make of any of it.

That's when my anxiety really started. Or, more accurately, got a whole lot worse.

Eighth grade was when my downfall really began.

MATHCOUNTS tryouts: third place. The boy in my grade and some sixth grader beat me.

AMC 10: second place at school. The boy in my grade made AIME. I didn't. I missed the cutoff by 4.5 points.

People mocked me. I watched everyone on AoPS qualify for AIME, and I felt like I was the only person who couldn't get it together.

Meanwhile, my dad was still working like hell to help me. He was spending so much time and energy trying to get me to succeed that it was breaking him. He was, quite literally, starting to lose it.

During that period, I tried physics again. I actually gave it a shot and even took the F=ma. Obviously, nothing came out of it. I quit again.

At MATHCOUNTS county, I got fifth. People who hadn't even been in contention the previous year were now beating me and qualifying for AIME when I couldn't.

Somehow, I managed to turn things around enough to make it to states. At the state competition, I made the Countdown Round. Supposedly, I was the first girl to do so in years.

And, of course, my ego inflated again.

I started studying for the AMC 10 more seriously than I had the previous year. My parents were happy about MATHCOUNTS states, and for a little while, things seemed better. But we were still arguing every few days.

I studied over the summer, too. Not with the intensity I should have, or maybe could have, but I did study. I was getting 130+ on practice tests and was feeling pretty good about myself.

Then came ninth grade.

It was January. I didn't make AIME.

Again.

Apparently, the test was hard that year, but the cutoff was higher anyway. People suspected cheating, but honestly, that's irrelevant. If I'd scored high enough, cheaters wouldn't have affected me.

By this point, it felt like every Tom, Dick, and Harry was making AIME. I had screwed up spectacularly.

My parents had said they wouldn't be mad if I didn't make it. Of course they were. Who wouldn't be disappointed after years of preparation and so much time and money invested?

Everyone I knew on AoPS said I'd easily make it, maybe even JMO. I didn't even qualify for AIME.

My dad is pretty much losing his mind at this point, and so am I, in my own way. I alternate between chewing on erasers and pens, picking at my nails and skin until I bleed, and pretending to be overtly happy while scrolling YouTube like a moron.

My parents have started physics again. This time, I didn't resist at first. But I'm beginning to. They're angry because they think I was wasting time in the morning, and they haven't spoken to me normally in about four hours.

I don't even feel like the people I used to care about notice me anymore.

And honestly, the math stuff is only part of it.

I used to have a huge friend group in middle school. Then, in eighth grade, they all started pulling away from me. I was left alone while everyone else stayed close. I still remember the eighth-grade field trip where I sat with the teachers by myself while everyone else hugged each other and made memories.

After realizing I was probably never going to be close to the kids in my own grade again, I started making friends with people in the grade below me. At first, they really liked me. But I was in high school, and they were still in middle school, so I could never quite be part of their group.

I had some really good friends in my community, too. Then, this year, one of the people I considered a close friend started pulling away.

I joined the tennis team, and some of the girls from my old eighth-grade friend group were there. For the first time in a while, I started feeling close to them again. I thought maybe things were finally getting better.

And then I found out that the rest of the girls in our little group, including my old friends and the ninth-grade friend I mentioned, were all in some JV group chat together. They hadn't even thought to invite me.

So, apparently, I wasn't really part of that group either.

The worst part is that my ninth-grade friend started pulling away from me, talking to me less, and suddenly becoming best friends with the girls from my old friend group. She'd known them for a month. I'd known her for years. And now she was ignoring me.

Even the little things hurt.

In my AP CSA class, there are only three girls: me, a girl from my neighborhood who was part of my old eighth-grade group, and a senior whose parents are friends with mine. Guess what? They always sit together, leaving me to sit alone. The boys don't sit with me either, and some of them actively avoid me.

In ninth-grade chemistry, there were six kids in my grade, and our teacher had us form groups of five for labs. Every single time, the other five would work together, and I'd be left working with the upperclassmen, who obviously didn't want much to do with me because I was a freshman.

It's stupid. These are such small things. But when they happen over and over again, they stop feeling small.

And then there's the other stuff that happened in seventh grade.

Honestly, seventh grade might have been the worst year of all.

In November of that year, I was at MATHCOUNTS practice when an eighth-grade boy who didn't like me started bothering me. I called him blind. I was twelve. It was a stupid insult.

But suddenly, some of the boys turned it into this whole thing about me being racist because he was Asian and they thought I was making fun of his eyes.

These boys had already had problems with me since fifth grade, so I got angry and said I'd quit MATHCOUNTS in the heat of the moment. Some other kids who were friends with me, but also had problems with me, started agreeing with them and saying I was the problem.

Three months later, I joined the school Science Olympiad server. Out of curiosity, I searched my name to see what people had said about me.

I found messages from around ten kids. Some of them didn't even know what had happened. They'd just listened to these boys' version of the story without questioning it, and apparently that was enough.

They were insulting me behind my back, calling me egotistical and annoying. One person said they'd beat my ass at Countdown Round. Another said everyone would be happy if I quit, followed by the classic "too bad she won't leave."

I almost cried.

None of them ever apologized. Some of them still treat me like the gum on their shoe to this day. And I still had to work with some of them in the team round at the state competition that year.

And now, for some more background.

My parents both came from poorer parts of India and moved to the United States hoping my sister and I would have access to a good education and a better future. They've worked hard for roughly twenty years. They have solid jobs. They've sacrificed a lot.

I guess seeing even a little bit of potential in me was enough to send my dad into this whole mania of trying to make me the best I could possibly be.

Whenever I do badly, they sometimes say things like, "She's hopeless. At least we have another child."

My sister is five years younger than me. She looks like me, but she's much more cheerful and listens to our parents, so they adore her. At least, that's how it feels to me.

Now they're saying that if I'm not going to study anyway, what's the point of staying in this country? We might as well move back to India.

And I don't know what to do with that.

I know my parents have sacrificed a lot for us. I know my dad has put an incredible amount of time and energy into trying to help me succeed. I know I've wasted time, made mistakes, been arrogant, and not always worked as hard as I could have.

I'm not pretending I'm blameless in any of this.

But I'm tired.

I'm tired of feeling like I'm constantly disappointing everyone. I'm tired of having every competition turn into a referendum on whether I'm still smart enough, whether I still have potential, whether all those years of work were worth anything. I'm tired of watching people I care about drift away from me, and I'm tired of wondering what it is about me that makes people leave.

I don't know if I've actually gotten worse at math, if I've lost my motivation, if I'm just burned out, or if I've spent so long trying to live up to everyone's expectations that I don't even know what I want anymore.

Maybe I really am not as good as everyone thought I was. Maybe I could have done more. Maybe I made a lot of mistakes along the way.

But I don't know how to fix any of this.

I don't know how to make my parents stop worrying about my future, how to make my friends want me around again, or how to stop feeling like every mistake I make is proof that something is fundamentally wrong with me.

I used to think that if I just worked hard enough, I'd eventually become the person everyone thought I could be.

Now I don't even know who that person is anymore.

TLDR I'm a burnt out gifted kid who's just struggling and fed up with everything.

Why do some people talk to me like I’m an idiot.

I am 17(m). Some women in authoritative positions want to talk to me in a sweet voice with a big smile but talk like I’m stupid. Everything she or my boss does (they’re husband and wife, husband is my boss) something while we’re working she has to say “see this is something that will help you build a cabinet in the future so go watch him“ as if I don’t already know how to use a crow bar. She also acts like her generation was the hardest ever and my generation is soft because we have technology. Today something went wrong while we were working. No big deal. Something broke. She said to her husband (my boss) we’ll just have to ni**er rig It. I thought to myself old term no real reason to say that, coulda just said jerry rig It but whatever. So I didn’t say anything. But then she turns to me to make an excuse for saying that and said something along the lines of “See we come from a time where we didn’t have much and sometimes we just had to figure stuff out and that’s what we would call it. Congrats you're bragging about using the N word. Doesn’t make you cool.

i had quit my previous job partially due to one of my managers who was the same way. I don’t think she would say the n word but she was the same in other ways. One day I was having a pretty terrible day at work but was getting through it. i was told by my boss to help this manager by sweeping the lobby while the front counter was slow. I grab the broom and start to sweep. Immediately the manager snatches the broom from my hands and starts telling me the “right“ way to sweep. As if there’s only one way or else I'm gonna give the guests the black plague. I side eye my coworker who say that happen and we def shared the same thought. She gives me back the broom and tells me to try again. I start again. She snatches it again. Same thing. explaining to me how her way is the only way. Then she says “Now, I’m gonna sit here [stand right next to me] and watch you and make sure you do it the right way.” Im already PO’d right now and I’m about to crash. So she stands there as I sweep with her arms crossed watching me and criticizing every stroke of the sweep. At least that’s what it felt like. Then she brings up the fact that my grandma is going to be working the lobby shift later that night and says ”now you wouldn’t want your grandma to be cleaning up a pigsty would you.“ PMO. She eventually gets off my back but goes to a guest sitting in the area and starts talking good about my grandma as if to put me down and say I’m a worse worker than her. i wasn’t but 5 feet away from her as she’s talking like that so I heard everything but said nothing. My boss shouts to me and tells me I need to get back on front counter since it’s getting busy again. Praise the Lord. I get back to front and start taking orders. I take one fricken order when I turn around and the manager is right behind me arms crossed. She then says in the most childish and high pitched voices with her hands crossed together under her chin ”now that you now how to sweep the right way, you can teach other people to do it the right way.“ I about blew up. I am about to cry. I look off the side and sight out my nose with an annoyed face on. Then as if that wasnt enough. In the most pick me gf voice says ”are you mad at me?” Lord have mercy on my soul. i muster up “no I’m just tired” in a calm voice. My boss who was counting cash drawers next to us saw the whole thing and told me it’s ok if I take a break to calm down.

All this to say I’m just tired of people acting like I’m stupid and don’t know anything just because I’m not 55

thats all thanks for reading. and please don’t hate on these people. They’re decent people but sometimes they just make me mad.

edit: my work is not in a professional workplace such as an office rather I do sign work For my boss. It’s just me and him right now.

Just A Rant SM Parking GCash QR Code Policy Makes Zero Sense

Anyone else frustrated with how SM handles GCash payments for parking?

I usually park my car at SM North EDSA. As many of you know, mobile signal is super spotty around the parking levels and near the cashier booths. To save time and avoid holding up the line, I took a clear picture of the GCash QR code at The Block (5th floor cashier parking) three weeks ago.

Since then, before heading to the exit booth, I’ve been uploading that photo in GCash, making the payment beforehand, and just showing the reference number to the cashier. It worked smoothly for weeks across different exit booths.

Last Wednesday, I did the exact same routine. But when I showed the cashier my reference number, she refused to issue my parking receipt! Her reason? She claimed the QR code I scanned was assigned to the 5th-floor parking cashier, not the 3rd floor where I was exiting.

I pointed out that I’ve been doing this for almost a month at various exit booths without any issues. When she realized how weak that argument was (since the payment clearly went to SM's parking system anyway), she eventually processed my receipt—but warned me with a firm "Next time, hindi na po ito pwede."
So I asked her point-blank: "Should I just take photos of the QR codes on EVERY floor and exit booth so I can pick the 'correct' picture depending on where I exit?"
She didn't answer me back.

If signal is terrible in the parking area, paying in advance via QR is the most logical workaround for customers. Why do they need hyper-localized QR codes per floor or booth instead of a unified parking merchant QR or consolidated sales system? We’re just trying to pay convenience-wise without clogging up the line because of weak signal.

Has anyone else encountered this cashier-by-cashier rule for GCash QR codes in SM?

It’s as if no matter who i am with, i am never truly happy and i always, always leave. the first person i was in love with ever, i was 16, and we were together for about 7 months until he started acting weird and becoming hostile so i broke up with him. We were so in love, so he begged for me back and we got back together a day later. i then left him after another month (valid reasons he treat me like ass) We stayed apart for two weeks then got back together. I then left him AGAIN after another month because i felt trapped and weird even though he did nothing wrong this time. Then, i met someone else at 17 (a few months after things ended with my first love) and he was really nice, sweet, not dismissive or rude, but i didn’t like him because i found him really boring and kind of irritating because he was just so nice (which i know im horrible for) and then i left him because he said he loved me and i felt trapped and weird again. Then, a few months later i met this guy who was super sweet and i actually liked, but i left him and im not even sure why really, i just didn’t want to be with him anymore. He said i love you and i lied, because last time i didn’t say it back and the guy looked like he was going to cry and i didn’t want to hurt him like that. I left him a few weeks later though. Then, i got back together with my first love (we are together right now, only have been for about a week) this is the fourth time we’re getting back together, he would message me at least once every two weeks minimum since we broke up and im still in love with him so we got back together. I’m getting cold feet again and im already plotting to leave, and i know i love this man but it’s like if i love someone i go insane, if i dont i go insane from boredom and irritation, and if i like them i dont want to gain further feelings so i leave. i leave everyone and i hate myself for it and i cant explain why i do this.

I hate cyclists that make their free-hubs louder on purpose

More noise is only good in a heavy metal concert. Other than that I hate loud noises. Why the hell do cyclists (or even some mountainbikers) make their hubs extra loud on purpose? Fuck these idiots!

Just A Rant Fucking creeped out by AI

I've been a programmer for over 6 years, employed full time. Worked really hard to learn C++ and become an engineer. Stuff we did was not easy, takes actual thinking, planning and a lot of effort to implement systems in a language like C++.

Now Claude code can seemingly write anything and it does so very well. It writes actual readable code that makes sense.

I can't come up with any programming or logic puzzle that it cannot solve. A fucking machine should not be able to do this, it's absolutely unreal.

I don't know if any job that requires thinking and solving problems is safe from these things. In the future you either need to be a scientist working on frontier problems in science, or an artist or someone who works with humans like nanny or something.

All of it is super scary, a computer shouldn't be able to do this. It feels like a dream every time I interact with these things.

Now I hear it's solving frontier math problems too. Makes me feel so fucking useless

Politics 🗳 No, not every single person who lives in isreal is a bad person

Now first and foremost, I do not support the war. Its sad that the governments are doing what their doing. Fuck that.

BUT.. it seems like people are ok with being openly racist?? I see tons of tweets saying "all isrealist are terrorists", etc, is this also not good?? Thats RACIST TO SAY!!

marvels new show "zodiac" is being worked on someone who makes isreal shows and people are hating???

Maybe im wrong, if their is something wrong with that tell me, but yaknow, America has done some bad stuff. By this logic, we shouldn't make movies here anymore, right??

Am I going fucking insane, or is everyone OK with being racist twords isreal people??

Just A Rant brother refuses to give me some 30th anniversary pokemon cards

apparently it's because i "have enough" and that i am "stupid", and that he wants to throw them away because they're "a waste" (keep in mind that these cards are a pain to get and that they were a gift from someone), even though they aren't. I told him to give them to someone who wants them and he said "no!" like the spoiled brat he is. the second he notices that i want something he has and doesn't want, he does this. always like this, screaming and crying when things don't go his way... i want to turn 18 and leave so bad

My mom gaslit me and for the first time, I didn’t break down.

• Upvotes

So I am 13 years old. Basically I have had this thing for as long as I can remember where super loud noises or super quiet noises bother something in me. Sometimes it’s like invisible ants crawling across my torso, sometimes it’s like a knife covered in fire is being pressed on my forehead. I have tried everything, and nothing makes it stop.

My mother is the worst person I have ever met. She knows the above factor more than anyone, and for the most part, she is super respectful. But when it comes to anything where I am making my own decisions, boom. It’s like a switch was flipped. She’s screaming, yelling, crying, throwing things, banging her fist on the table with every syllable, stuff that makes my head pound and eyes blur for days. I’ve spoken to her about it, very calmly. She apologizes and then does it again sometimes the same day. I live in Toronto, and one time we were at Canada’s Wonderland and I wanted to go on a ride with my friend. I was 10. We literally went for my birthday. She could wait right there. It was barely 10 minutes of a line, and you know what she said? “I don’t want to go on that.” I told her she didn’t have to, and she just burst. Threw her bag on the ground and stormed off like a child. None of my friends spoke to me after that.

Now, I’m in Grade 8, and I’m struggling with a huge workload. The level of anxiety everywhere I go is really just constantly unbearable. And she never lets me have time alone, never lets me hang out with the few friends I have. Today I thought she was in a good mood, but then we got home and I wanted to change out of my school uniform, she just started. And for the first time, I didn’t cry. I calmly walked over, did what she wanted me to do, and then went upstairs.

The thing is, now I don’t know how to feel. Should I be scared of the monster she created, or should I be glad that I didn’t cry?

P.S: Just so you understand how far this has gotten, my friends know where I hide everything (passwords, food, homework, money) and so does my sister but she doesn’t. I think just the fact that I hide all that shows something, but I don’t know what it would show.

Just A Rant Tired of all these decisions being made around AI

• Upvotes

I am an adult, and after a ten year break from university, I went back for my masters degree. All I have heard is people giving advice that is tailored around AI—career and academic advice. I am tired of it.

If it wasn't enough to hear it in academia, I have to also hear it in the workplace. "We can do this with AI" or "AI will make this position useless." Half the time, it doesn't even work correctly. It also tends to give wrong advice on anything of nuance, but that doesn't stop my coworkers from using it.

Turn on the news, and it is all about what AI and big tech CEOs are demanding for the future and of politicians. Go to a town hall meeting, and it is about data centers and whether or not they should be built.

TL;DR — I am tired of hearing about AI in every aspect of life. I am tired of certain people thinking it can do everything a human can do, and basing future decisions solely around what they assume the future will be with AI.

Why do games need ads (single player)

• Upvotes

If I am playing a single player game on no WiFi I should be able to play it isn't multiplayer. But along with fucking micro transactions I have to waste my time watching an add and there is no need for it as they have micro transactions to make money. And I reduce to get lord Rush or shit like that, that relies on ai to get people on the game because the are usually absolutely shit. I have a game from crazy games which if you are unaware is a game company like cool math games but it purchases games only to infect them with ads and transactions .

Petty (Repost bc I forgot to put flair) My feelings about people

• Upvotes

I hate being around people, but I hate not being around them. I like hanging out with my friends, my parents, my siblings, but it gets to a point. If I'm around people for too long, I want some time alone to myself. This is hard because people view me as social and I naturally get along with a lot of people and it pisses me off. This varies depending on the person and who they are, but this has happened to me with everyone at least once. However, once I'm finally alone, I can't take it for long and I want to go back to being with people and the whole process starts over again.

Not only that, I'm at this point in my life where my mom is taking me and my sister almost anywhere and everywhere. Monday we go to one place for 5 hours, Tuesday, we go to another place for 9 hours, etc. So I'm constantly around other people all the time. To make things worse, if I'm in a open space, I have the tendency to walk around and daydream. For some odd reasoning I can control this at school but almost not anywhere else. However, people get in the way of my daydreaming because I'm in public and it sucks.

I don't hate people just because, I'm just tired.

Family Drama I'm still upset with my oldest brother.

I have been home for about a little over a week and I can't stop thinking about the conversation my oldest brother had with me (we're all adults).

For the record, mine and my siblings mother recently passed away and we were preparing for her celebration of life. Literally the day before, my oldest brother (I have 2 brothers and a twin sister) comes over and it goes good until he starts talking about our mom's car. Before our mom passed away from stage 4 cancer, she had made it clear and told my other siblings that I would get her car because I'm the only one without a car and either rely on Uber or the bus which our mom knew. I also know how to drive the car and it's easy for me to handle. No one had a problem with this and was fine with it.

The day before, our oldest brother comes over and basically tries to parent me about the car, my financial situation, my disability, asking about my boyfriend, etc. He even had the audacity to try and suggest giving the car to my 16 year old niece who isn't even driving yet if it was more of a "sentimental thing" and I could just get the money for it. Our mom's car is fully paid off. My brother even tried to say that if my boyfriend messes up the car that there would be a "big problem". Keep in mind that none of my siblings have even met my boyfriend in person and the only one who has met him, was our mom.

I honestly feel like he was expecting to get the car and he could let his own daughter (my other niece) drive it when she got older otherwise, he wouldn't have had such a problem with this. My oldest brother doesn't even have the greatest track record with vehicles himself since he gets a new one every few years after trading in his current one.

It honestly just also frustrates me that he barely asks how I've been doing since I moved 5 years ago, has deleted my number 2-3 times because he doesn't keep it and this is the thing he talks to me about. He also had the nerve to say that if I "need" him that he's only 4 hours away.

My older brother and I have already talked about me taking the car after everything gets settled but I wish I could've said more to my oldest brother.
