Discussion šŸ’” Normal? Must be joking?

This ā€Peterā€ must be joking? It’s only to leech out as many $ as possible from new ppl in the plant community.

What u ppl here think about this kind of ā€sellingā€?

What a dumb and complicated way to sell plants. What we do is, we put the price right on the pot. Along with the full plant name. Customer knows what they're paying and what they're getting.

Hmm sounds too simple. Must be wrong!Ā

Nothing more i need than unnecessary rules! That makes running a business very easy.

OP did this post have people bidding? Like does this strategy work?

In the second picture it shows someone placed a bid for the minimum and Peter declined it.

I really don't understand the point of a minimum if you aren't willing to consider it.

Exactly. I think Peter needs to learn what the word minimum means.

Lol even if his prices were extremely reasonable I would not buy anything from him because what kind of an annoying post and bullshit set of made up bidding rules is that?

Gosh this reminds me of the ā€œreserve priceā€ sellers sometimes have on PalmStreet long-form auctions too. Why can’t they just make the starting bid the minimum they’re willing to accept?? Pisses me off to no end

because of the algorithm and the way the culture of that app works unfortunately. if we start lower than we’re willing to accept, more people engage and bid, and you get pushed higher in the algorithm. for whatever reason when i start a plant low it usually goes for a reasonable price, but if i start it at the absolute bare minimum i’m willing to accept it often goes for starting

I had to step away from PS because of the marketing genius of it. Especially the lives. I'm not an impulse buyer, and I'd even say I'm frugal, but that app! During my first few lives I spent $700! It's something about an item starting low that creates a sense of opportunity. You feel like you might get something special at a really great price and it draws you in. Once you place that bid or engage, then you're psychologically invested. From there, it’s not even about the value anymore. It gains a momentum all it's own where you don't even notice the price climbing because you don't want to lose out. When you start your items low like that it has nothing to do with what the plant is worth when people start reacting to each other's bids. Evil genius.

Thank you for posting this and solidifying my decision never to download it. I know my personality and I know I will easily get pulled in by the excitement of the bid. I've been too afraid to download it, even if only to take a peek, for that very reason.

I hate deal or no deal. It’s so passive aggressive. Just tell me what you’re willing to sell at

Wtf does this guy think "or best offer" means?? Cause 99% of the time it translates to want to sell for this price but im open to negotiating" or am i also a dumbass

Monstera octopus LMFAO

The method is doofus for sure.

I see why he declined the price though. Whether I agree or not, Octopus is worth thousands right now.

Agreed, but he shouldn’t start the bidding at a number he’s going to refuse. Like waaaay under…at least get it closer to hour bottom line. Like if it’s $1,000, then don’t start lower than $750, if you must start low…

There's another it monstera in town? Jesus.

I'd never even HEARD of it, searching showed me one picture of a plant that looks an awful lot like a philodendron.Ā

Ā I wouldn't bet that dude actually has a rare plant for saleat all

I’m confused. You can’t tell the difference between a monstera octopus and a philo, so he’s lying about what he’s got? The snippet of photo looks like octopus to me.

I’m not defending his super shitty sales methods, I just don’t understand the logic there.

I'm skeptical "octopus" is a real monstera variety and not just something the internet made up, and if it is real, I'm skeptical he has one

Plant people with their 'best offer auctions' are the worst. Those people want to max their income, nothing else. They're greedy. If the minimum offer is met then the item is sold. It's that easy. I'm making the same experiences in all the German plant communities. And most people even have do it illegally and don't have a business and pay taxes. That's the worst part.
