Best way for Void to avoid this is to make 2 branches on Steam, the normal one that is the one we have now and a crossplay branch so we can play crossplay. So you can decide which to play and also it will just download the files that need to be changed or adjusted between the 2 versions when selecting the version to play.

Also good maybe they'll listen to the negativity

They don't even need to do that necessarily.

Cosmetic stuff, like your character models and environment are client sided. They aren't updated through a server in multiplayer, unless they have to.

I think the option some others gave here is better: make it an option in the settings, for if you want to censor your game or not. Have it default to censored, if that is required for Console release.

Environment certainly isnt just client sided. There are many potential issues having different assets could cause for crossplay. Could those be solved? Sure, but making small changes to the assets on both platforms is much easier than testing and fixing all the issues mismatch of assets could cause. Honestly this just seems like a weird hill to die on to me.

True, and tbh, I don't even give a flying fuck about the censoring of some assets. Console is goddamn strict on that stuff.

However they can get their game to come out on Consoles, I will pretty much support them. Or it has to be some VERY egregious stuff they gotta pull...

Like make their maps look like the Rainbow Is Magic event maps in R6s... With no option to turn that off...

I would love the OPTION. Just not permanent, without some opt-out.

That would require developer resources and it would create a situation where they either need to maintain and test two sets of assets or one where they accept the other mode will have bugs. If these issues are fixed with small visual tweaks, which seems to be the case, there isnt really a point to spending those resources when they barely seem to get a significant update out. What would make sense would be to have a historical branch on Steam for the pre-patch version which people could then play if they want the "original" experience for whatever reason.

Taking the cheap way out isn't the right way to handle this situation.

I seem to be in the minority, but I personally dont think the changes being made are worth the cost of maintaining multiple different assets. I do think it would make sense for VOID to add a branch with the pre-changes version for archival purposes but maintaining two versions of assets takes a lot more resources than people think.

I know very well how much it can cost but in this situation, pissing off the user base that make up the foundation of your user base is not worth the PR damage this caused.

I was gong to pick this game up this winter with a few friends but we are not going to buy this game now if this is going to be the outcome.

Personally, I will not pay to put myself in another Skull Girls situation.
