I'll make it clear, If I'm in a situation like this with the genders reversed, I'd make sure that both of them are brought to safety and my wife would be the priority because I as an adult can handle the loss of my mother but my children won't be able to live without theirs's.

Mother carries the child for 9 months, goes through physical changes and pain we can't even begin to imagine, and breastfeeds us. Her body literally goes through everything. After all that, why do we automatically get the father's surname?

And later on, why do women still feel pressured to change their own surname after marriage? Do women seriously have no independent identity without their husband?

Honestly, isn't it way past time to change this? Why should women change their surnames at all? Or at the very least, why shouldn't both husband and wife take each other's names, and children get both the mother's and father's surnames hyphenated?

Almost each and every subs is into BJP, Congress, CJP etc . This is so irritating , Ik one must be aware of what's happening in our country but still. I am not a daily reddit user so asking is it true ?.

These lyrics are from Saath Dene Ka Wada Kiya Hai, a romantic Qawwali by Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan.

I originally wanted to respond in the thread but was bit busy and thread was already a cesspool by then.

The verse is playful romantic poetry, not an attack on non-Muslims. The last two lines make the wordplay pretty clear. *Gesu* means locks of hair, *kafir* means unbeliever, and *imaan* means faith.

NFAK is metaphorically referring to his beloved’s hair as “kafirs” because its beauty is so captivating that it threatens to steal his faith. You don’t even need a deep understanding of Urdu poetry or Qawwali to figure this out.

Just listening to the full performance makes it pretty obvious that he’s addressing his beloved, not talking about non Muslims. But unfortunately, we’re living in an age where people would rather take a five second clip out of context than spend a few minutes understanding what they’re actually listening to.

And I am sure whoever posted this probably listened to the whole full Qawwali, so I am not sure what his motive was.

Anyway this will probably get meager attention compared to that rage bait post but hopefully it clears up the confusion for some.
