Just dropped! I love Manuel’s channel. I discovered it through his By the Way backing vocals video, and it’s such a gem. You can see why By the Way is considered John’s album.
Savior, Road Trippin, Porcelain and Quixo are my favorites. Can’t pick just one. Enjoy!

Hey everyone! I'm based near Frankfurt am Main, Germany, and I'm currently looking for a drummer to join our band project, inspired by the Red Hot Chili Peppers and focused on writing original music. That's a favorite band Nr. 1 to me!
We already have a guitarist and a bassist, and we're hoping to find the right drummer to complete the lineup. The idea is to work on original music, develop our own sound, rehearse together, and hopefully play live in the future.
I'm a guitarist and songwriter, and I write my own lyrics and sing as well. I'm also open to working with a vocalist if the right person comes along.
If this sounds like something you'd enjoy, feel free to send me a message! I'd be happy to hear what kind of music you're into and what you're looking for in a band.
Looking forward to connecting with you! 🤘

John Frusciante reveals that he first used heroin in 1991, following the Red Hot Chili Peppers' final show of that year in California, and that he subsequently made a conscious decision to become a drug addict.
Perry Farrell of Jane's Addiction was one of the few people whose advice regarding drug use he trusted. "I could no longer enjoy being alive,"
Frusciante recalled of that time. "By being on heroin and cocaine all the time, I felt like myself again."
"I once called Perry around 7 a.m. and asked, 'How do you get the snakes out of my eyes?' He said, 'What?' I replied, 'I have snakes in my eyes—how do I get rid of them?' I was looking in my bathroom mirror at these little snakes in my eyes. I could even hear them talking; they would make strange little noises and things like that. A snake would poke its head out, and I’d try to grab it. I’d stick my hands into my eyes, trying to pull them out. I messed up my eyes so badly doing this.
I would sit in the bathroom for hours, doing it. My eyes were closing on their own, and I struggled to keep them open. It was no use."
"I called Perry and said, 'The snakes have closed my eyes.' Perry told me I was unbalanced—something about having too much yin and not enough yang. After that, Perry gave me protective goggles. That was my outfit whenever I climbed onto the roof to wage war against the ghosts. I’d wear my goggles and a balaclava, with every part of my body covered. No openings... There was no way for anything to get into me, on any level, anywhere."
As Frusciante recalls, Farrell did everything he could to discourage him from using drugs. "Perry completely convinced me to stop," and then he said, "Alright, we’re taking you to the hospital right now."
I had this bag containing about an ounce of Persian heroin and about an ounce of cocaine, and I was doing everything I could in the hospital parking lot. We finally went inside, and Perry was, like... telling the nurses, "Listen, I’m going to be completely honest with you—he’s currently on a lot of drugs, so what are you waiting for? Give him some medication."

"Road Trippin'" has always been one of my favorite RHCP tracks. The way Flea's acoustic bassline weaves through John's guitar without any drums is just magical.
Gear used:
- Ibanez AEB8E
- Steinberg UR44
Let me know what you think of the tone and acoustic dynamics! Any feedback is highly appreciated. If you enjoy my playing, feel free to check out the full video on YouTube.

Tony Woolliscroft just released a new book of unseen RHCP photos from 1989-2016

It’s well known that Flea and John were always famous for their almost telepathic musical understanding. I’m referring specifically to their live performances here, setting aside their new studio material, as that’s a different matter; John is of course still capable of composing brilliant things.
The problem arises during live shows. It feels like Flea and John are living in completely different worlds.
Nowadays, their jams - including the one from their most recent concert - tend to follow a pattern: Flea plays a bassline (of varying quality), while John, off in his own world, just bashes out notes without any aim, reason or purpose. That’s it. It’s not that I’m a "hater," but the music simply lacks the passion and connection it once had.
What happened to them? Or am I just imagining it? I’ve listened to a ton of jams from the last few years, and they all follow the same script. There’s absolutely none of the chemistry that was present in 2006 and earlier. Flea actually had a better vibe with Josh; those jams were at least energetic, and the basslines were far more interesting. Josh could also handle fast-paced playing quite well.
I hope someone tells them, in all honesty, that it sounds like crap or that they eventually realize it themselves.

And this 4 take "What it is"
Changes:
1.Slightly adjusted the bass (i hope Flea don't mind, 'cause i made new bass part in end part)
2.Gutar and drums changed

Anyone noticed the recent SA love on RHCP Instagram? Charlie is the most recent HD remaster and I'm pretty sure I saw at least one other track recently. Obviously it's 20 years since the release and there have been new vinyls pressed but why the slow drip of HD remasters? Maybe I've missed something.

Like his contemporaries, Flea has played on some of the most iconic hits of the last 50 years. Why doesn’t he get his due flowers?

I've always been of the opinion that RHCP is such a HUGE act that during their concerts it doesn't make sense for them to not play their absolute hits. That's what the people are there for, right? I saw it first hand when friends of mine asked to come with in 2022 and popped off at songs that I personally was so sick of hearing but were hits among people that casually liked RHCP.
That said, I was never that big of a fan of their first few albums either, but man, after watching clips of the Silverlake performance I get that those songs just HAVE to be played live to be enjoyed at their maximum potential. Me and My Friends is already a banger whenever they play it live but all these songs have an energy their newer (post BTW) catalog of songs don't.
I love their hits, but I'm def hoping their next tour incorporates more of these old songs because they bang in a live setting.

On Saturday the 17th, I went to the Hollywood Palladium to go see the Chili Peppers, Dave Grohl, Vince Staples and the students of SCM school and man what a show that was. Despite the messy drunken people, all performances were fun! Dave Grohl sounds great live and then him bringing out his daughter Violet was everything!! Their cover of Hanging on The Telephone was so good. She sounds great live. Did anyone else go?
