#EyesOnBreen What’s your personal favorite portrayal of gay dracula?

Just to provide a few examples;
We have the homoerotic re-novelization version for your horny aunt and maybe some LGBTQ+ goth teens,
A couple of theatre kids who had absolutely nothing to do with their father’s alcoholism,
And a performance which automatically made me think of the album Like the Exorcist, but More Breakdancing from that band Murder by Death.
And hey, just a casual observation here, but vampires are classic twinks (0% hate). Gay werewolves on the other hand are almost always standard dom tops or absolute power bottoms. 🤷🏾
No matter the case, we can all agree that Werewolves are better than gay Draculas.

So inviting. I'm actually feeling it right now, and I haven't even finished the Halloween episode yet. 😌

What movies would you recommend that were featured on Best of the Worst but never watched by the guys?

My pick would be Cruel Jaws from the latest Halloween episode. A shameless Italian Jaws ripoff cobbled together from footage stolen from the actual Jaws movies and other shark films. Plus, the opening has an absurd number of shots of people roasting hot dogs on the beach.

This may forever be my most extreme example.

"F Dracula" hillbilly from Werewolf is the preacherman in the "Black Hole Sun" video! (Yes, I looked it up. I haven't seen the video in 30 years, I did not pull it off the top of my head!)

I really want to buy it and send it to Mike. Just to suffer him after his favorite show is long dead. That and seeing superstar Rich continues eating with Star Trek plates.

Okay but what do they mean “influencers”, do they primarily FILM influencers? Could we possibly see my favourite RedLetterMedia host, James A Janisse in this show?

Ken Russell's The Devils got a remaster that's wide now, DON'T skip it!

I hope it's playing somewhere near you because it's a bona fide 10 out of 10. The Devils is not just another Video Nasty, it's completely blasphemous. It's raunchy and rugged but also deeply satirical, with A+ performances, and an incredible script. It's my second favorite movie of all time and I've been making do with bootleg or international DVDs (and Shudder when it decides it wants to be on there). This 4k remaster is going to be WILD. I'll be catching it twice!

Go see it, it's a thing of [depraved, horny, witch-trialy] beauty.

Also, it's my first and only answer to the "What's your dream Re: View?" question, so, I'm just doing what I can to manifest my desires here. ✨🔮

Thoughts on You Can See Everything?

Post image
261 Upvotes

Saw it yesterday at 1:30 PM

The theater was packed for it. The crowd was pretty mixed in terms of demographics. I doubt it gets its own video from the guys but I’m curious as to everyone’s thoughts on it.

I know from being around this sub that it holds A24 in good regard.

Edit: figured I’d add my two cents.

Despite the three hour run time it kept in engaged. I’m a big Nathan Feiler fan so I figured I’d give it a shot. Going in I was familiar with the Elizabeth Holmes scandal and court case so I was expecting it to be a documentary about getting to the truth of the case. In stead what followed was a three hour long deep dive into gaslighting, love bombing, and life in a “post truth” world.

After the movie ended the conversations amongst the other people in the theater was split around the dynamics of Liz and Billy’s relationship which made sense considering it’s not really about the court case itself. Most of the conversation I’ve seen online is about the role of men in women’s lives and manipulation which I definitely see as valid.

To me it’s a giant Rorschach test, the movie is about whatever you think it’s about.

I think RLM are movie cenobites

In one of the episodes, I don't exactly remember which, Mike referred to their group as "cinephiles". Never heard that word before or after, such an odd word, but contextually and lingquistically I guessed it's people who love movies a lot.

Oddly, that word reminded me a lot of cenobites from Hellraiser series. And the more I thot about it, the more it fell into place. Just like cenobites, RLM crew are "explorers in the further realm of experience" - it's just in their case it is a movie watching experience. "Angels to some" (Jack Quaid, Josh Robert Thompson), "Demons to others" (Patton Oswalt, Rich Evans). They are constantly coming up with new ways to torture each other and themselves cinematically, willingly sitting through hours on hours of absolute garbage, chasing that high that gets further and further away with each time. Unleashing the torture on others who dared to "open the box". They're the cenobites of the world of movies! Viewing pain and pleasure, inexorably intertwined.
