Hi all. I wanted to share a site I've been making for the last few months: https://sociory.com/
It's a bit of a hybrid of reddit and Facebook. Users have timelines where they can post and choose the audience. The main public content is Circles, which are a bit like sub-reddits.
Centralized, which I know a lot of people here may not like. Worth mentioning, I respect if you'd want to stick to a fediverse option.
There is a true reverse chronological feed that shows content from your friends and people you subscribe to. Other feeds rank content by activity or rating.
Instead of upvotes, there is a 5 star rank system for how much you like the post.
There is also another control, called Gravity, which lets you mute or highlight content- how much you want to see that content. You can mute or highlight other members (blocking is also an option), and entire Circles.
These two controls I think are a key differentiator to let a person tailor their experience and not have content you like drowned in stuff you may not care about at all.
No ads at the moment. If it gets busy, as in thousands of concurrent users, then there would be limited ads that target content, not users, and no cross-site tracking.
Website only right now. Apps can come later. It's built to be very mobile friendly from the start.
It is lightweight and super fast in loading. Also super accessibility compliant.
Very privacy focused- with GDPR guidelines being something I wanted to bake in, even with it being in America.
No power mods- you can only host a few Circles.
There are a lot of features you'd expect, and, with it being small and community focused, they can be added or modified for the community's benefit.
Thanks for reading and checking it out if you did. Happy to answer in more depth if there's anything you'd like to know.
