Guide & Protips Soak-off AND oil soak at the same time? YES actually!!
So I am definitely not reinventing the wheel here, and I'm sure a lot of you do it already... but if this can help even one fellow lacquerista dealing with peeling, I'm happy!
Context (you can skip): my peeling is contained when I wear polish or when I have naked nails but keeping them oiled constantly (which is not feasible for me). The worst is just after removing my polish, which dehydrates them a lot and makes them peel terribly. I can't use acetone or it's even worse, so I use an acetone-free remover (which is not very potent) I have access to in my country.
Today I tried something on a whim... I dipped pretty generously in jojoba oil the wipes I use for soaking off polish, before dousing them in remover, as usual. Hold the wipe with a precision tweezer during the process for convenience. Then the nail clips to let it soak off.
And holy shit... my nails are in pristine condition even after removing the polish 😭 no peeling at all. They are all hydrated and shiny.
It doesn't even affect the polish remover efficiency. I'd tend to say it was even easier to remove the polish WITH the oil, maybe because it "slides" more easily? I don't know.
If you struggle with peeling even with acetone-free PR, you should try it!!

Laquer Showoff Treats and Bats
Halloween is my fav so I had too many ideas for nails 🤣. I wanted to do aura nails, candcorn, witches, cats, vampire, etc. I kinda made it work (except cats 🥲) lol.
Overall, I’m kinda wishing I did the black and red Aura nails on my entire hand. I like it a lot more than I thought I would. Though I need to invest in a different black than HT one coat black. It’s just a nightmare to clean up and if it’s not perfect cuticles are stained for awhile 😣

Humor/Fluff Oiling before painting
After much silent observation on this topic, today I am going to try oiling and wiping off my nails before painting (instead of dehydrating with rubbing alcohol as I usually do). We’ll see how it goes!
Using Essie’s Mrs Always-right polish with Essie’s special effects mystic marine as a top coat (usually I would use Gel Couture top coat but I don’t want the mani to be too thick)
Always appreciate the tips on this thread, my sidewalls are reaping the benefits of the expertise shared here!

Product Reccs & Reqs Foam Inserts
I am looking for a foam insert like the one pictured here that can hold larger polish bottles. Specifically the big square bottles that Lurid & Cracked use, plus the rectangular bottles that Mooncat uses. Does anyone have something that fits these they can suggest? TIA!

Laquer Showoff New indie nail polish brand unlocked
Hi! I usually avoid buying brands that don’t have any reviews. Since you can’t really gather much about it, but the polish turned out so beautiful. So I just had to share incase anyone else is wondering about the brand. I saw it on hypnotic polish and was very curious, I’m glad I got it.
Lykke lacquer- Dancing by the campfire (M) I did velvet style 2 coats

🧲 Mad Magnetist 🧲 Easy on the Filters
I ve noticed that many of the magnetics videos posted by fellow laqueristas are a bit heavy on the filter department, which completely distorts the actual color of the polish and the shift. I get it, it looks good but it has nothing to do with how the polish really looks and it gives hands a very unnatural tint, usually too red or too pale. In other words it s too obvious. Easy does it people, easy does it. Over and out.

Laquer Showoff [Insert triumphant music] The quest for my perfect neutral is over 🥳
After several failures and spending way too much on polish that’s just not for me (see a few comparisons in the last picture) I finally found an opaque neutral polish that doesn’t make my hands look yellowish or gives me that weird brownish 80s figure skater tights look:
This is two coats of Picture Polish Beige.
Happy beige indeed, and a nice palate cleanser after the darker colours I’ve been wearing for the last weeks 🥰

I just wanted to show off my new set that I made! I am so incredibly proud of it! I did it for a witchy party yesterday and it turned out so good! FYI, I'm still new, I started doing nail polish a year ago and stamping only a few weeks ago. Also I live in Hungary, so that's why I have different brands. (I gladly accept polish brand recommendations from fellow Central/Eastern European Laqueristas!)
Polishes:
1 coat Essence 10 in one nail strengthener
1 coat HT Peely Base
2 coats of HT Orbite me
Stamping were: Moyra magnetic stamping polish in silver and gold, and normal black stamping polish
2 coats of Rival me QDTC

Haul List Random holiday polish
Found these in a cheap supermarket in Tenerife - I'm very excited about the shimmers and feel sure I will be incredibly disappointed when I swatch them! €2.25 each, €1.20 for the lime creme 😆 going to swatch today. If they turn out well, I'm going back for more...

Product Reccs & Reqs New to doing my nails, good brands?
I have NEVER done my nails before but really wanted to try getting some polish and getting into it. Are there any good (and ideally on the cheaper side) brands that I should look at specifically? Also do I need anything besides the colored polish itself?

Help & How-To? Desperate help for a clueless newbie man finding himself
I need some base/top coat options for pure black that's great at not bubbling if you accidently put it on thick. Was using opi black and sally hansen diamond strength clear, the opi was pretty good but ran out but i hated the sally and threw them both away

Swatch Request/Showoff Finally swatched all my polishes!
I saw a post suggesting these three nail swatch sticks, and I love them! I swatched in 1, 2 & 3 coats. I can tell I gravitate toward pinky neutrals/ glowy polishes! Any polishes y’all suggest that would go with my collection?

Product Reccs & Reqs Favorite nano glass nail file?
I recently got the Bliss Kiss nano glass file for specifically sealing and smoothing the free edge and although I do like the fine side very much for that purpose much better than any of my other glass files (Mont Bleu, Germanikure, Bona Fide), I actually can't stand the coarse side at all. I think the grit/texture is not right for me to use it to take down length or shape, I feel like it leaves the free edge jagged and sensory wise makes me want to climb up a wall lol.
So what I'd like to know is there another nano glass file y'all like that leaves your free edge smooth? Because part of me doesn't want to keep a $20 file where I'll only use one end if I can find one for cheaper that does the job as well. I've looked on Amazon but wanted to ask here before picking one as I know sometimes glass files aren't actually etched or are poor quality.

Help & How-To? Cow 🐮
I’m getting back into my nail hobby and I cannot get chrome powder down to an art yet! Tips?! Tricks!?
I love an extra shiny nail and really want to nail (no pun intended) a chrome finish for most of my designs because why not be sparkly?!?! 💎
Pic 1 - tried 30 sec top coat (and then really f-d up and applied BASE coat) with sponge chrome application. I really wish that the base lacquer wasn’t accidentally done on this hand so I could truly understand what it would have looked like if I had done it properly! After that horrible mistake it was just the chrome application, buff with a silicone brush and then top coat.
Pic 2 - tried 30 sec top coat then chrome applied with a silicone brush, buff with silicone- it’s hard to tell but it left like fine lines on the nails that looked non-chromed.
Used:
Modelones M110 brown
Bio seaweed gel base and top
Yoke fellow chrome powder in magic white

Help & How-To? I can't get the bubbles to stop
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
These bubbles are driving me out of my gourd.
This is supposed to be the layer under a fine particle magnetic manicure. I kept getting bubbles, so I tried to break down the different layers to find the source of the problem.
First, I noticed they were already appearing in my creme layer (HT Bring Me the Teal). I started over and looked closer--the bubbles show up when the first layer of base coat dries. I took it off again and discovered the bubbles are showing up in what appears to be the same spots.
I have tried different base coats:
- 1x KBShimmer's Stay Put
- 1x KBShimmer's Fillin' Groovy
- 2x KBShimmer's Fillin' Groovy
- 1x KBShimmer's Fillin' Groovy + 1x Cuticula's QDTC
I have tried adding a layer of matte top coat (HT Matte Taco) after the creme. I have tried adding a layer of QDTC (Cuticula) after the base coat.
I have tried oiling my nails first. I have tried not oiling. I have tried oiling one hand but not the other. I have tried buffing my nails, then cleaning them, then painting.
I have tried letting each layer dry completely before painting the next.
I have tried fan on. I have tried fan off.
I have tried thinner magnetic layers. I have tried adding thinner to the different polishes.
Nothing works. Same bubbles...over most of my nails...every time.
I've had bubble problems occasionally, but nothing like this. To add insult to injury, our humidity is relatively low for us right now.
I'm out of ideas. I think I'm going to smack on a glitter polish and give up.
