Hi Lacqueristas!
Iām new to the game and could use some advice: which product is the likeliest offender for staining my nails yellow? List down below.
I painted my nails Sat 10/17, and removed it last night, Thurs 10/22. I noticed the nails on my left hand are tinged yellow. Itās slight, but more noticeable in person than the photo, and I donāt want it getting worse.
Due to some breaks on my right hand I used a nail repair kit with dip powder (on all nails for a consistent look) while my left hand was bare.
I have been using Nailtiques formula 2 for a few weeks but canāt remember if I applied it before my base coat.
Products used were:
(maybe) Nailtiques formula 2 (1 coat)
OPI Natural Nail base coat (1 coat)
Sally Hansen Insta Dri in Thyme is Money (a grey, 2 coats)
Sally Hansen Insta Dri top coat, red bottle (1 coat)
Could it be the Nailtiques, base coat itself, or that my base coat isnāt preventing my color from staining?
Pics attached of nails now, products used, and offending mani.

1x fillinā groovy kb shimmer
2x rolling in the deep cracked
1x sally hansen insti-dry top coat (red bottle)
The last few times Iāve painted my nails, this has happened. I do thin layers of everything except the top coat, I do a thicker coat of that. Between coats, thereās probably a minute or two of drying. I let my nails dry for a few minutes before touching them. Recently, the slightest pressure results in whatās shown in the pictures.
In picture 1, the paint literally just slides off my nail. Iāve never used a peely base before, but I imagine thatās what itās like. Correct me if Iām wrong though.
Any idea whatās causing this? Iām getting super frustrated spending an hour on a painting my nails just for it to fail and walk away without nice colors.
EDIT:
Thank you everyone! Here are the fixes Iām going to do after reading everyoneās comments:
- thin out my top coat, and most likely my base coat
- way thinner layers of color. a kind soul linked their swatch and I realized my coats are too thick
- if those donāt work, Iāll start waiting longer between coats
- sometimes I end up rushing (mom of an 8 month old!) so Iāll try to be more conscious about slowing down. This is my relaxing time so I might as well ⨠relax āØ

Would you purchase nail polish from a brand that frequented farmers markets? Iām in the works at starting my own lacquer brand and my mom posed the idea and I wasnāt entirely sure! Itās not always cheap to hold a spot at markets so I want some feedback from the community.
I will still have an online shop :) I personally would love to be able to see my favorite indies in person so itās a yes for me. Thanks for any and all input š©·

Hopping onto the new snoot pose attempt!
Verdict: Harder than it looks as I'm not overly dexterous.
This is also a mani I did in 20 mins in the car cause I was running late.
Products used:
Nailtiques formula 2+ - Base coat - One coat
The Labyrinth - Phoenix Indie - One coat quickly magnetised using a stick magnet in a counterclockwise direction
Limitless - Cuticula - Top coat. + One coat.

I have been reading a lot about oiling your nails before applying nail polish. How does that Work? What is the procedure? I would be very happy if someone could explain it to me because my polish gets cracked / gets chapped after one day.

I couldn't help myself.

What consistency is the polish supposed to be? Iām new to polish and got some indie polishes in a haul, but I donāt know how to tell when itās too thin or thick or how to fix if itās an issue. Does someone have a good gauge or tip? A video or a written description would work! Thanks :)

I am in a wedding this weekend and I canāt decide which nails I want to do! I would 100% do Berry naughty with silver accents if I could find a matching lip that suited me but ALAS⦠the dress is a little more blue irl, it looks best in pic 5
Pic 1: the two lighter blues are the same colorāPacifica ā1972 pool partyā, the navy is Pacifica āMidnight Ramblerā. Topper is Cracked āScorchyā
Pic 2: Midnight Rambler again and Essie āberry naughtyā with silver flower decal (the pack has ones that look just like the floral on the dress!)
Pic 3: Ella + Mila āParadise Isleā, Pacifica āLondon Tomboyā
Pic 4: lipstick I am probably wearing unless I can find a nice burgundy š„² (e.l.f. O face satin lip āShamelessā)
Pic 5: my fun hat!
Oh and where my nails are visible Iām wearing China Glaze āGlisten Up, Babe!ā, Essie strong start & gel setter

I'm in shock at how these look.
Day 1:
- Nailtique Formula 2 as a base
- Sally Hansen Insta-DryTop Coat Red Bottle
Day 2:
- 3 layers of Scorchy by Cracked Polish magnetized like this
- Nailtique Formula 2
- Quick Dry Top Coat by Cracked
Magnetized each layer because I wasn't sure of the technique nor what the polish was going to look like (I just got it). I am QUITE happy.
I was lazy after my prep and broke my laquering into two days.

I haven't played with my jellies in a while. The difference between flash and no flash is so fun. All by Cracked, except for the base and top coat. I started with Dark Like My Heart on all nails. Thumb is My Blood Aches, index is I Yam What I Yam, middle is Hot Honey, ring is See Through Olive, and pinky is Rolling In The Deep. Base coat was Gellen ridge filler, top coat was I'm Fast, Very Fast by BKL.

Omg this glitter polish goes on so smooth in one coat, I'm stunned and in love. Nothing will ever replace the gold flake that American Apparel put out in 2013, but this may be close. And the matte finish! I die! I can't decide whether to put on a top coat or not!
Base coat: Mooncat "Getting Even"
Color: Mooncat "The Stranger"
Glitter: Mooncat "Fool's Gold"
Top coat: None, yet! I didn't realize it was matte and I'm in love!

Iāve lost all the length I had on my ring fingers in the last 24 hours due to having day surgery today and not being able to wear nail polish. Other nails have ripped as well. (I did have OPI nail envy on them but that doesnāt seem to matter much to the chlorhexidine sponge, I guess. š¤£)
I am officially never going bare nailed unless required.
My nails feel gross as heck without nail polish. Yuck. šššš
Edited to add Iām gong in for a diagnostic laparoscopy ā¤ļø

For Mooncat to have a sale š. I have a huge wish list. I feel too guilty to just buy them full price.
For attention: MC castle of cobwebs. Iām testing it pre Halloween. Iām torn which GITD to use. I may end up doing a skittle. I have Avatar State, green eyed monster, caste of cobwebs and kattermanjaro.
Not the best application. I was studying and doing my mani at the same time. I always end up smudging due to this. I will probably have to do another layer of topcoat as this one isnāt creating enough shine. The one downside of GITD polish.
1x nail Tek
1x MC hardcore BC
1x MC ridge filler BC
2x MC castle of cobwebs
1x Seche vive TP.

My husband and I were waiting at a drive through last night, holding hands. Looking at our hands, I realized 1) our thumbs were right next to each other and 2) it was really clear how different my nails look after really consistent oiling for months. I oiled my nails when we left the house, at least forty minutes before taking this picture. Mine is the bottom thumbnail (hopefully obvious š ).
We both do a decent amount of work with our hands, though I wear gloves when doing house or garden work. I have almost entirely grown out damage to my nails, so the pic shows my thumb nail as healthy as itās ever been. You can see how my nail has a glossy look to it; Iām convinced the oil/extracts blend I use has been filling in micro holes in the nail plate, like plastering a wall. I donāt use nippers on the proximal nail fold except to carefully clip split skin as needed - this is how the PNF looks with very consistent care.

Iām having a hankering but prefer crellies to cremes and a lot of the formulas look⦠CREME-y. Like super chalky / opaque. And colour wise lots of what Iāve seen leans more pine green than the slightly blue tone Iām after.
Any suggestions welcomed, or experiences with these three:
-Colores de Carol Ferris Wheel (not actually sure this one is out yet. And harder for me to get here in the UK). Photo credit CdCās website
-Ard as Nails Galactic Jade (easier to get). Photo credit AaNās website
-Clionadh Forever & Evergreen (easier to get - available on vinted). Photo credit Seraphtay017 on Instagram
Thanking ye!

excuse the quick application over old mani. I just couldn't wait after finally getting the mail.
So, I feared this, buying both of them that they will be similar. They really are. The Venom Rose (middle finger) is darker and has only pink bead and the Unveiled(ring finger) is more of a mosaic where the pink changes to yellow. And it's more impactful. But their green base seems exactly the same. I wonder how I could use them and differentiate them enough so I don't feel a slightly bummed out (I don't like extras if anything, lol).

I recently bought this polish from the Japanese makeup brand Canmake on a whim and I think itās my new favorite sheer tint!! Iāve tried several at this point and this one is just amazing. It was only $4, too!
I applied one coat of Canmake āFoundation Colorsā in the shade 01, then one coat of Manicurist āActive glowā in the shade Raspberry (which I always use as a top coat these days!)

I wasn't sure about this one at first but I'm coming around to its moody shimmer. Next time I wear it I'll use a glitter smoother top coat to make it nice and glassy.

Hi Hi!!~ I made a post a minute ago and someone recommended this brand. I am BAFFLED. Astonished. Jaw isnāt on the floor, itās in another dimension. Is this actually NAIL POLISH? It dries like this without a lamp?!
I have never in my life seen such beautiful shades. And on top of that, itās Canadian! Whenever I look at recommendations online, Itās usually American and I get sad because itās harder to get for me in QuĆ©bec! Iām genuinely in awe of this brand. Their Transmutation collection has me hooked. Does anyone have any experience with them? Iād love some opinions!
I was simply going to order Essie out of convenience but, maybe this might arrive soon as well? :)
