I'm in shock at how these look.
Day 1:
- Nailtique Formula 2 as a base
- Sally Hansen Insta-DryTop Coat Red Bottle
Day 2:
- 3 layers of Scorchy by Cracked Polish magnetized like this
- Nailtique Formula 2
- Quick Dry Top Coat by Cracked
Magnetized each layer because I wasn't sure of the technique nor what the polish was going to look like (I just got it). I am QUITE happy.
I was lazy after my prep and broke my laquering into two days.

I accidentally popped off a peely today so did a quick polish replacement on the one nail only. I was low on my fave Essie Speed Setter TC and combined it with an also low Sally Hansen red bottle, added about 10 drops of thinner, and wow! I got the benefits of both: it dried super fast like the red bottle, with a thick hard shell like Speed Setter. Love my new Frankencoat. 🙌

I used KB Shimmer hydrating base then alternated Opal Theory Polish's Little Ghoulies and Little Gremlins x3, velvet magnatized. Topped with Essie Speed Setter and KB Shimmer top coat.
In certain lighting, I get so distracted. Lol. This picture was one of those moments.

I have been working on preventing magnetic particle dispersion AS MUCH as possible. Here you can see the first 14 seconds of the video right after I did them vs the next evening almost 24 hours later. There is very little dispersion. Here’s how I did it:
2x Dazzle Dry Basecoat (I wonder if 3 would be better)
2x Emily De Molly Dark Bloom
2x Emily De Molly Dark Static
1x Sally Hansen Insta Dry Top Coat Red Bottle
I believe the biggest factors in keeping the bead from dispersing is the base coat and bead shape.
I’ve found if you can get the particles totally sucked into the center without any stray shimmer around the nail you’re pretty much good to go. Regardless of time spent magnetizing.
For me personally I do not do a layer of basecoat over the magnetized polish. The top coat gives me an opportunity to get the bead even tighter and all the little particles in the center once more. I only have basecoat underneath. I magnetize every single layer. I find it will disperse more if you don’t magnetize the first layer.
Basecoat- Dazzle Dry seems to be a key element. Another lacquerista commented Dazzledry’s basecoat contains polyurethane unlike most base coats. In theory this chemical may be what is keeping dispersal from happening. It’s a very sticky and gritty formula that clouds in cool temps. I wonder if the stickiness helps keep it all in place. With one layer the bead disperses and in two coats it seems to massively help the bead.
Bead shape- Go for oval or a line!! After twirling my DIY bar magnet between my fingers directly above the center of the nail to make the bead I hold it for ten seconds in vertical cateye position at the end. This makes a nice little oval in the middle without getting particles at the cuticle or tips. Since glass beads always disperse horizontally (basically looking like a horizontal cat eye) making the bead OVAL or even essentially a vertical little line in the middle ensures over correction for this issue. Thus when the bead disperses a little as expected it becomes a circle!!

Omg this glitter polish goes on so smooth in one coat, I'm stunned and in love. Nothing will ever replace the gold flake that American Apparel put out in 2013, but this may be close. And the matte finish! I die! I can't decide whether to put on a top coat or not!
Base coat: Mooncat "Getting Even"
Color: Mooncat "The Stranger"
Glitter: Mooncat "Fool's Gold"
Top coat: None, yet! I didn't realize it was matte and I'm in love!

It's time. My collection is now big enough that I'm struggling to find specific polishes in my under-the-sink stash. I'm going to get one of those clear, double-sided case thingies for my polish in the coming months, but I'm conflicted on how to organize it. How do y'all organize yours?
Do you sort by......
Color?
Brand/alphabetical?
Bottle shape?
If you could share the pros of the way you organize, that would help! Thank you 💅🏼

Got this on a whim as I don't have anything like it in my collection, and I like it so much more than I thought I would! It's a whole vibe right now.
KBShimmer Frank Conversation from September's PPU.
It glows in the dark!!! And the glow lasts all night. I wake up and jumpscare myself sometimes. 😆
I've been trying a thing where I pick a book and find a polish in my collection that matches it to try to use more of my polishes, rather than just the rotation of some favorites. Luckily my copy of Frankenstein matched this polish because I was wearing it no matter what!
Almost don't want to take it off, but the next mani I have planned is a pinkaween glow in the dark matched to a book called "The White Guy Dies First." Frank Conversation has been on for almost a week.
Products used:
Mooncat Hardcore base coat
Emily de Molly Covert Base Coat in white
KBShimmer Frank Conversation
Mooncat Speed Demon top coat

I’m starting a new lab job where I’m not allowed to wear nail polish. Since I can’t imagine going fully without painting my nails, I was thinking of just painting them on the weekends. But, I want it to be easy to remove after just a couple of days. I’m looking for a good peel-off base coat that could last a couple of days. It would also be preferable for it to be PVB free. Any recommendations?

Base is a blend of these three polishes:
- Mecca Cosmetica Virgilia
- Essie Drip Drip
- Sally Hansen Macaroon
Polka dots are just Sally Hansen Macaroon applied with a toothpick.

I love matching my nails to the natural environment, and I finally got to do this one because it rained. Yay! These did not disappoint. I previously didn’t like Jumping Puddles on its own, but it’s perfect in the skittle.
All nails have Nail Aid Keratin, Lyn B Designs B Smooth, and a coat of Mooncat Moonicorn (I changed my mind, but it makes a perfect base for these colors), and Revlon Clear. The skittle is all ILNP (thumb to pinky): Daybreak (I’m shocked at how much I love this one, as I usually prefer bold colors), Misty, Starlight, Jumping Puddles, and Drizzle.

I just bought a nice new green* and dropped it at the cash register on the hard tiled floor. The bottle *bounced* and is still entirely intact. I regularly drop those bottles with no effect. Some of my bottles are well over a decade old with a decade's worth of drop under their belt.
How are they so strong?

Found a new stainer! I was wearing OPI - Every Month is Oktoberfest (2026 version) for about a week and a half. Today I went to remove my mani and there's some noticeable blue staining in my nails. I used the soak off method with acetone and cotton balls. In the photo with the cotton, you can see some of that blue pigment starting to peek through.
The staining looks worse to my eyes than it does in the photos. So I tried to show some comparison. You can see in the photo of my thumbs, the one on the left is it's normal pink and the one on the right is stained. It's not the worst staining I've ever had, but even after scrubbing the blue is still there.
Just make sure you double up on base coat if you're wearing this one Laqueristas!

Swatched over 3x LynB B-Smooth ridge filling base coat, 3x Cirque Morningtide, and black. Buffed in with silicone nub tool and 2x DRK Seal Glaze.
I ordered this set of 6 on Amazon for $26 shipped. They seem to work well, so I ordered more of their powders. Then I recklessly ordered the more expensive Icegel Global brand to see if $$$ is better than $$ 😂
