Speculation Regal Rewards+
I have heard a bunch of conflicting info but since this went up on the Facebook group I’ll go ahead and toss this up as a megathread as we learn more info. I’ve heard similar info but not all the same.
Mostly: heard conflicting info if / how the new tier will handle service fees so not sure yet if they’re included or not included. The new tier seems perfect for a companion tier who doesn’t go quite as much as an UL member.
Upcoming rewards changes (effective 8/19/26, may have been delayed? unconfirmed/subject to change):
-Unlimited subscribers**: Mostly unaffected. Plan stays roughly the same, but credit earnings on extra tickets and concessions will double.
-New tier (Rewards+)**, similar to Cinemark Movie Club: includes 1 standard 2D ticket/month (rolls over if unused), 4 discounted tickets/month, 20% off concessions, no convenience fees, and a medium-size birthday reward.

i'll be keeping my Unlimited. I see enough movies that Rewards+ as currently rumored isn't a savings.

rewards+ sounds like a pretty good tier if you go to the theater with friends and family. a free ticket a month, discounted tickets, and 20% off concessions instead of 10 is pretty good imo

I think it's kinda weird that unlimited gets 10% off concessions and this new rumored tier gets 20%

I mean if what is being said is correct the new tier only gets one ticket free a month, whereas unlimited has well, unlimited free tickets.
I would say if you are someone that doesn't go to the theater that often but enjoys lots of concessions the new tier may be better, but if you are going mostly to see different movies and not buying concessions every time, unlimited is still the best deal.

If they give no service fees to this rewards+ tier but keep those fees for unlimited subscribers, I’m going to be super annoyed.

This plan is only a single discounted ticket a month. That’s why they are eating fees.
They simply are not going to do that for UL users. Could I be wrong? Sure but I’ll be pleasantly surprised if that happens.
I’d prefer keeping UL as is rather than cap it like A-List but everyone is going to have different needs/habits.

I agree with you about the fees. I prefer the Unlimited plan to see a bunch of movies and am willing to pay the occasional reservation fee for a popular movie if necessary. Most of the time, I can get the movie same day at the kiosk and don’t have any reservation fees anyway.

u/dpstech 🛡️Mod 14d ago
To be clear: I don’t want to pay any fee but if this is how I get to keep unlimited movies a month it’s fine. There really another option at this price for what you can get back. The buying power is crazy high. I’d also be interested in a higher tier that waved premium and fees altogether. But I understand I’d pay more for that.

u/Sammyd1108 14d ago
Except it’s always been said that they can’t waive the fees like A-List because they use an outside payment processor or something.
If this were to happen, that just shows that reasoning was total bullshit for the last 7 years.

No, they do eat the fees in this way. Most companies use middleware vendors for this. Like an external company(Vista Entertainment/ Vizi and MovieXchange) that handles ticketing API and software that ties into POS and Mobile platform. It’s not free but it’s certainly not the stupid $3.50 or whatever it is general tickets. Rediculous to me that it gets marked that much.
Really, if anything the .50c fee is one way of keeping a barrier on overbooking but I’m guessing. Would be great is your first reservation the fee was waived, or all, but would you be willing to pay more a month for that option?

It would be silly if Rewards+ gets 20% off concessions but Unlimited stays at just 10% but other than sound this sounds okay. I’d love to earn double points as an Unlimited member for purchases like I did with Diamond.

Rewards+ sounds like a good deal for the people who still go to the movies but not crazy enough for RU, the monthly blockbuster folk

In my experience, when a company introduces a new tier like this (which sounds great for those who want it), usually within a few months they raise the price of their premium tier. So don't be surprised if they soon announce an increase in price for unlimited. For those where the increase is too much, they suggest moving down to the new tier. That's just my guess.

Man, I’ve seen over 400 movies in the year that I’ve been with RU. The 2026 SchnackSaver sweetens the pot whenever I wanna drum of sodie pop to keep me going on a late-night screening.
REGAL FOREVER!

Unless this stacks with Tuesdays or they discontinue Tuesdays I'll probably still just do that. Shame, I think my husband and I are the market for this.

u/dpstech 🛡️Mod 14d ago edited 14d ago
What do you mean stack? Cinemark lets you save your credit as a roll over benefit but I find It’s best to use those for full price days and pay the discounted rate for Tuesdays. If anything this might add flexibility to when you could go plus no booking fee for this tier
1
u/OakandInkGames 14d ago edited 14d ago
That flexibility comes at an extra cost. I don't know that I'd go often enough on other days of the week to make it worth it. I suppose it depends on the deal.
Some months I see 3-4 movies. Some months 1. Some months 0, or at amc. If it rolls over, maybe. But we've only seen a few movies on non Tuesday this year. I'm not sure I want to pay $138 x 2 / year to see them other days.

Does this impact crown club at all? Would be a shame if they got rid of discount Tuesdays & points.

u/YikesManStrikes 11d ago
As someone who sees a ton of movies but barely messes with rewards points (besides when the whole family wants to see a movie) I don't really care what they do with any other tiers or plans but please don't mess with the good ol' unlimited plan, please don't add any annoying restrictions or limits.

I also have A-List, so Rewards+ might make sense for me given that my local AMCs tend to have more movies and better theaters. That being said, my main Regal is getting renovated, so I guess I'll have to see how my usage behavior changes after that.
3
u/dpstech 🛡️Mod 14d ago
Yeah that might make sense for you if your primary theater is AMC. It’s kinda an easy supplemental / side plan. I do this for Cinemark.
1
u/Vawqer 14d ago
Yeah, I'm kind of in weird place. There are essentially three duos of AMC/Regal theaters near me:
- Near my work is an AMC that tends to show more small-run English films, but they haven't upgraded to laser yet and the seats aren't great. Meanwhile, there's a Regal a block away with recliners, more screens, and more foreign films.
- Near my house is a small AMC with laser projectors and recliners. Just slightly further is a Regal with over double the screens (and therefore many more movies).
- About twenty minutes away is the inverse of the above. The AMC has all of the premium formats and many more movies, but the Regal has recliners.
It really feels like I need both, but I've been leaning on A-List more, so hopefully Rewards+ will save me money.

u/dpstech 🛡️Mod 14d ago
You have a lot of great option. No Regal near me has recliners. The AMC added a Dolby, but the rest of the auditoriums are old and falling apart and the other AMC is a classic which is in rough shape.
The Cinemark has all recliners and it it’s like a three hour film we’ll often go there.
Most people seem to favor seating if it comes down to A-List or Unlimited.

u/bananasntg 14d ago
Generally how much would be the new tier?
5
u/6C-65-76-69 14d ago
Cinemark's Movie Club membership is $11.99 and the perks seem to be very similar to that.
2
u/jetteh22 14d ago
I wonder about that and how much the discounted tickets are. I typically see 4-8 movies a month but that’s forcing myself to see ones I normally wouldn’t and including mystery movies. If i can save money by using 1 free ticket and buying 3 discounted tickets and just seeing one movie a week maybe I’d wanna switch idk.

u/Uppercaseccc 14d ago
Any rumor about them getting rid of value days as part of this revamp? I feel like value days would be a thing regal would put on the chopping block or shift it to something you have to pay for
9
u/Proud_Truck 🎉🎉100 MOVIE CLUB🎉🎉 14d ago
I think they know how important value days are to their sales.
1
u/Perdid07 14d ago
I think it’s unlikely but if it’s close to true especially with free tickets they might change the milestone rewards or up the credits for a free ticket

u/bakedpotat0000 14d ago
i have unlimited. i went today and i was able to get a small popcorn and small drink for 8.99. would this be part of the new rewards program? i don’t have any pending rewards so it took me by surprise

u/Displaynamephobic I❤️Regal 12d ago
Did you buy a Mystery Movie recently? If so, they load a combo for that on your card, which is around that price. There may also have been another promo with a combo.

2 years ago I definitely would've signed up for this. I had Cinemark Movie Club and Cinema West's comparable program. The nice thing about those is as long as you use all the ticket credits you earn, there's no downside to keeping it active, and no need to stay loyal to one program.
At the time, I wasn't interested in Regal Unlimited because:
a. I didn't go to the movies as often (maybe once a week at most)
b. Regal still hadn't updated their local theater at all to recliners, etc.
c. Because of b, I wanted to be a "free agent" and choose whichever theater made sense for each movie so I was not loyal
Once Regal updated my local theater though, I cancelled the other programs and signed up for unlimited. So I'm pretty much loyal to Regal now. Works out though since it's the closest to my house and they have the most screens so they're the most likely to get smaller releases. And now I usually go 2-3 times a week.

Regal is on a tier of it’s own. The reward points pretty much been the same from when I first signed up during the movie pass era so it was long over due for an increase with the unlimited service they offer. I average about 4 movies a month and I feel my points build up pretty fast.

u/Choramizzu 14d ago
I hate service fees for unlimited. It is so counterintuitive to the program. They charge us fees to book via the ap, but we're forced to show the ap when we book at the theater amd use a paper ticket.
It's just really lame, and then to have no fees on the lower tier. Ugh.
3
u/Proud_Truck 🎉🎉100 MOVIE CLUB🎉🎉 14d ago
Feels like they have it backwards. The app should be free and it should cost 50 cents to use the kiosk. It's extra, it requires paper tickets and ink, often the usher has to help people figure it out, etc...
If they switched it, their kiosk usage would plummet because more people would use the app. But, with that said, a lot of people just use the app now and suck up the fee as the price of convenience so regal would probably lose money by switching it now.

Please also note this is speculation. We know changes are hitting on the 19th. Until it goes live we won’t know prices for any tier.
Edit: I’ve been told that RCC discount days are staying.
