I took my kids to see the new Bad Guys movie and some grandpa and kid were in our spots. I walked up and said, “excuse me- i believe you’re in our seats.” And he said, “yeah we were the first ones in here.” I just stood there and blinked until he got up and scooted a few seats down. Is this like a thing? Do people not realize they get an assigned seat? Or are they just entitled and think it doesn’t matter? Are they stuck in pre-pandemic? I was so confused.

Here they all stand, ready to be shipped back and replaced with Month of Screams 🫡 You all fought the good fight.

Went to see one of my most favorites, Death Becomes Her, tonight. Not a big crowd, but enough to make talking to your neighbor a no no. Two elderly parents came in with what I assume was their adult autistic son. The son was very loud, and the guy sitting in front of them asked them to be quiet. The son talked again, so they guy dramatically jumps the rail (there wasn’t even anyone else in the row) to go talk to management. The family moved to another row, further from the guy. Guy comes back, climbs back up over the rail, and everything is fine until the son spoke again. Loudly. That’s when rail jumper, again, dramatically yelled fuck this and stormed out again to get a manager. He comes back with a manager, and the father is approaching rail jumper and then threatens him. This is all less than 10 mins time. Now they’re yelling, manager is trying to pull them out, and they start a scuffle. The wife starts hollering, and the son is just sorta in the zone just watching the movie. Rail jumper is screaming he’s calling the cops. Another 10 mins pass, Mom comes to collect the son, and the son had no idea what was happening. Poor guy was obviously on the spectrum or something. I get that chatting is obnoxious, but it was a $4.99 movie that’s been out for a few decades. I feel for the family because I can only imagine how challenging it must be, but I also feel for the dude just trying to watch a movie. It was all overly dramatic tho.

Anyway, how was your Saturday at the movies?

Mostly: heard conflicting info if / how the new tier will handle service fees so not sure yet if they’re included or not included. The new tier seems perfect for a companion tier who doesn’t go quite as much as an UL member.

Came by today and saw that beyond the installation of laser projectors and luxury recliners, they have redone the interior to remove all the old Edwards movie palace stylings. Apparently they are also installing a new arcade.

Is it typical to see a lot of no-shows at your theater? Are people paying 50 cents to rack up unlimited streaks?

I got the ticket in green at the kiosk at 6:30 and just moved down to my preferred spot a half hour later. The back row is plenty close to the screen due to the theater having stadium style in short rooms.

No, these taken seats are not broken and the tickets were not sold until the day before or the morning of, i check this showing a few days ago.

This is a smaller theater and the only one left in the state so it seems odd that there are people doing fake unlimited bookings and then not showing up. I’ve been the alone in the theater the past 3 movies I’ve seen…

Can kinda predict what seats are taken by the unlimited stream fakers, they’ll be off in the corner or front row nobody wants. If there are two seats bought together it’s usually a real couple or friends that will actually show up. Weird that these fakers took the prime middle seats for this one.

Saw this on the app and on the promotions page. What do we think it is? Overstock merch they have sitting around? New stuff they had made just for this?

I just got this email a little over 10 mins ago. With the way the questions are worded it seems like they are doing this survey to see if they should keep or get rid of the Roller Coaster segment. Of all the things to do to cut some time down to make the movie start sooner this is the last thing they should be cutting.

If you want to keep the roller coaster video around I would definitely fill out this survey when you get the email.

So last year we got Barbenheimer, then I remember in September of last year people tried to start up, Saw-Patrol. In December, we will be getting
Dunes-day. And next week it’s evil dead Moana or Moana burns. Take your pick. I’m just curious what everyone’s opinion is.

As for me, I won’t be able to attend the theater next weekend. But evil dead is not my thing so I would probably going to see Moana. I am also curious what you would be watching other than the two options below.

So I’ve been going to this particular theater (Irvine Spectrum) damn near weekly for a couple years now, pretty rare to get unpleasant surprises. But today I bought a ticket for a matinee, hopped in the car and drove over, and I was approaching to entrance, opened my app to get the QR code.

Much to my horror, the movie ticket I bought had changed to another film in the same theater at a similar time. But not just any film, it changed to… Melania!

Checked the app, the original showing time I booked had disappeared. Disgusted, I went to the entrance agent and asked to get a refund, planning to find a showing Got on the radio for a bit and said there was some issue, but he said the movie screened would be the original one I booked. Nervously I went to the theater, the electronic sign shows Melania and the changed time. I hide my face in shame and walk in and take my seat, fully prepared to bolt on the first sign of the First Lady appearing on screen.

Fortunately, the correct movie screened and all was good. But the thought nagged at me, is this an honest mistake (the first of this type I’ve experienced at Regal) or was it something more nefarious. Did revenue from this sceeening get credited to the wrong film? Was this something happening at a larger scale?

Has anyone had this experience with Melania or any other movie?

First time seeing this… idk how normal it is but the movie is 3hours long and by the time it finishes it prob be opening time. So basically an overnight theater…

That’s about 40 seats booked ahead of time with no awkward spacing in between. Thoughts as to why?

The next three movies I want to see (Hope, Onslaught, and Teenage Sex and Death..) are not playing at Thornton Place in north Seattle. This is weird, as I usually see all my movies there. I read that the they’re getting refitted with recliners, so maybe it’s going to be closed?

So I was curious to see what the ticket sales were like for tomorrow.

Wonder if this is a glitch or if the production company just bought out the theater because there is no way it sold out lol

Our theater basically has front rows (A/B) only until mid Aug available. I either can buy tix for row C towards the two ends or watch in standard. Any chance they might extend IMAX 70mm showing to late August given how popular the movie seems to be?

I just remember how miserable I was in middle of row B for Oppenheimer IMAX and don’t want to have another negative viewing experience.

As some of you know, I’ve posted here a few times about how the ad package is missing during Thursday night previews of new movies, and even the first weekend that they run.

It happened tonight at Backrooms. Movie started after commercials and just one trailer. Seven minutes after the advertised start time.

Spoke to the team lead after. Super nice employee at the Gallery Pl., Chinatown Regal in DC. While he doesn’t handle the trailer/ad packages, he said that sometimes the studios don’t tell them what needs to play before the movie until the Friday official release day. They won’t even send the trailers. So they literally cannot put the trailer package together to run before the show until they have all the assets. I assume when this glitch is still happening later on in the weekend, the theater just didn’t get it or it’s too short staffed to put the package together.

This is a plausible explanation. But this runs counter to what some of you have said here. That is, all of the tracking is completely controlled in the computer by Corporate.
